This book is a must have for every mother. It provides evidence, research, statistics and facts about vaccines being given to our babies and the damages they really do cause. I am raising a vaccine free child and I am constantly put down for it but once you know the truth, it doesnt matter what others think because you know that you are giving your child the best start. Hopefully you get ahold of this book before your baby is born so you can avoid these dangerous vaccines altogether.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. It is the most informative book I have ever read. The forward alone is worth the cost of the book, it is excellent! Seriously, before you take your kids back to the pediatrician, read this book. You will be thankful that you did.

This book is packed with research, statistic and lots of valuable information that I didn't see in any other vax related book.
It should be a must read for any parent

My wife and I are going to be new parents soon, so the subject of vaccine safety is important to us. With all of the information on the Internet (pro vs. con), it's hard to find a good resource in one place. Mr. Miller's book answers the mail, as this book is a well-researched and invaluable resource to have at your disposal. Miller has clearly done his homework, citing hundreds of studies, documentation and personal testimonies. He clearly cares about getting to the truth of this debate and in the process, has done his readers a great service.

As concerned parents, we have been researching the safety and effectiveness of vaccines for many months. We participated in a presentation were the speaker was one of my favorite researchers and authors on the topic, Neil Z. Miller. He is a medical research journalist and natural health advocate and author of numerous articles and books on vaccines. Miller is also the director of the Think Twice Global Vaccine Institute. He has a degree in psychology (with an emphasis on statistical analysis) and is a member of Mensa.

The presentation was about two hours and only touched the surface on the extensive amount documented data he has discovered through government, medical and scientific journals. He started researching vaccines before his son was born over 23 years ago. What began as a parental endeavor for information turned into a public awareness crusade.

He tells us most of the vaccine information that the public is told is misinformation and propaganda. Accurate data is not released through regular media outlets.

During the presentation they polled the audience on various questions. We learned that the U.S. has more vaccinations than any other country in the world and we also have the 42nd worst infant mortality rate in the world.

Dr. Baylock, a well known neurosurgeon has documented damage in children's brains due to toxic overload from vaccines. He wrote the compelling foreword of Miller's latest book.

The "idea" that vaccines will keep our children safe is like playing russian roulette. Miller advocates parents being fully informed and know that they have freedom of choice, especially when it comes to the health and well being of their children. "Don't count on your doctors to give you all he information." Miller warns. He suggests looking at each vaccine independently and that is exactly was he has presented for all people in his book: Vaccine Safety Manual for Concerned Families and Health Practitioners.

We live in a pill popping society where there is a drug for every ailment, but we have more chronic conditions and diseases than we have ever had before. Drug companies continue to make drugs and vaccine manufacturers will continue to make vaccines. They will put pressure on the FDA to say that they are safe and the CDC to recommend them to the schedule. Currently families that follow the recommended schedule are giving their children 36 drugs by 18 months of age. "We are injecting healthy people with unhealthy substances." Miller said.

Miller says, "There are more vaccines in the pipeline". The next big push is for adolescent and adults vaccines, even vaccines for those with addictions. There are no studies done on combination vaccines and how they react with one another. Not to mention any reactions with other environmental, drug or food chemicals or toxins.

"This is not hearsay. I have documented all of this information." Miller says. The FDA and CDC have a 12-15 member panel. The FDA determines what will be licensed and the CDC will then recommend it to the schedule.

Congressmen Dan Burton held congressional hearings to investigate these committees. There were clear conflicts of interest including, members that owned stock or patent to a vaccine or they were paid consultants to the vaccine manufactures.

In June of 2000 there was a `secret' meeting of top officials from Big Pharma, FDA and CDC. There they discussed the evidence that vaccines were harmful and instead of alerting parents they spent the rest of the weekend on how they were going to cover it up. Miller also addressed some common questions including mercury being removed from vaccines. In 1999 AAP said mercury was going to be removed from vaccines; however it was not required for the current stock of vaccines to be returned or destroyed. Three years later to balance that out, it was mandated that children get multiple flu vaccines that had high concentrations of mercury (thimerisol the chemical that contains 50% mercury).

Many parents choose to space out vaccines or create their own schedule. Miller thinks there may be some merit to it. He gave a drinking analogy. The reactions are different if you have shot after shot of tequila or have 1 tequila shot that night out with your friends. He still warns that if you decided to space out or do single shots the vaccines still come with significant reactions. There is no testing or screening to know if a child has a predisposition or may have a reaction.
We do know that more and more children are having reactions and autism is on the rise. The good news is for parents that choose not to vaccinate there are either religious or philosophical exemptions available.

Miller tells us that Autism rates surpasses cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. This is a true epidemic. He also mentions the flu statistics are false. "More people die in this country from asthma and malnutrition than the flu." Miller also spoke of the link between vaccines and asthma, mercury and autism but was very clear that mercury is not the only problem. "All of this information is documented information," he repeats.

We are conditioned to believe that vaccines are safe and vaccines are effective. If this was true children would not be having reactions and dying and people that were vaccinated would not get the disease. This is clearly not the case.

Another astounding bit of information was about the Polio Vaccine. There is an industry that raises monkeys and then kills them to use their kidneys to develop the polio vaccine.
Monkeys carry several viruses and one in particular, SV-40 is known to cause cancer. Numerous people were infected and cancer rates have increased 20-30% around the world.
This virus is also transmitted similarly to AIDS.

Since mercury is still present Nov 2008) in some vaccines, this book is essential reading for anyone who uses vaccines for themselves or their children. With an objective eye, reporter David Kirby presents both sides of the mercury-in-vaccine controversy so you can understand each side and see their motivations, experiences and reasoning before making up your own mind. The book is a skillfully told tale of mysteries and secrets, cross-purposes and showdowns. It is a story of passion, determination and struggle on both sides of the fence. It's an interesting, enlightening, and amazing read.

I think this book does a good job of trying to account for both sides of the issue (the author states in the opening section that he still believes the vaccine program is the most important public health initiative). But you cannot overlook the disturbing governmental and pharma coverups for the sake of saving face and benefiting billions of dollars respectively. What these poor parents have suffered with their children and the children themselves! It is no wonder the public has a serious trust issue with the vaccine program as it stands even today.

I don't like how it was written. Very hard to read. I expected more facts rather then a story line. The book makes it hard to focus on the facts because your flipping back and forth between 10 different families and their stories. However, the information provided it very useful. Lots of research and facts. Very interesting.

A must-read book for anyone who's interested in knowing what may cause autism in some children. Whether anyone believes Mercury causes Autism or not, the fact is it should never have been in vaccines where it's injected into tiny babies. Not only is mercury toxic, but so is aluminum, antifreeze and other toxic ingredients in vaccines, to name a few. Monkey/human tissues in vaccines can also alter the DNA's of our children. It's no wonder children are at such a high risk of having autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc without a genetic cause. I truly believe the synergistic effects of all these toxins in our vaccines, food, plastics, and the air we breathe is the direct result of these disorders. Toxic chemicals are so ubiquitous in our environment and why add to that by putting it in vaccines. At least in other countries like Europe, they take a precautionary stance that if something "may" cause harm, then it should be banned. Here in America, they want absolute proof that harm is a direct result of certain toxins. We are treated as guinea pigs by the huge chemical/pharmaceutical companies out to make a profit and our children are the greatest victims. With the rising rates of cancer and autoimmune diseases (such as autism & diabetes), we should all be proactive in letting our government know that we want safer products, whether it be vaccines or toys. I urge all of you to read "Exposed" by Mark Shapiro to learn more about how our beloved country is the dumping ground for chemicals banned in other countries. While the EU has become the environmental leaders, we have become the environmental loser.

I just had to console a mom in tears because of this book. She knows her child should get vaccines, and is at real risk without them, but is so fearful about getting vaccines. This book does a great job...of seeming to be researched and referenced, but the data does not support the assertions made of the risks of vaccines.

Great for conspiracy theorists, people looking to assign blame, and doctors who want to make money selling their book. Really unconscionable!

This book is a little out dated. New information and new vaccines are out and being given since this book has been out. Overall, this book is okay. I think it needs to be updated.

This is an EXCELLENT book. My son was a perfectly NORMAL, beautiful little boy until he received his MMR vaccine. Within 24 hours he had all the hallmark symptoms of autism. He and his little brother are close in age, so my younger son received vaccines for the first 6 months of his life. The result? AUTISM AND PDD-NOS!!! If I had read this book, my boys, myself, and the rest of my family would not be suffering the way they are now, and our lives would be totally different. This should be REQUIRED reading for any new parent!

Finely written, well organized information. Great tool for empowering parents to make appropriate choices for their own children, with a wider range of information than what you typically recieve from the medical community.

This book is so out of date that I don't think any pediatricians use the vaccines or techniques ( such as stacking vaccines) they warn you about. All this book did was scare me. I did learn a few things about vaccines and were to get the latest information. Overall not worth the time and the scare.

This is a very densely written book full of detailed points and references about the P in the DPT vaccine. It seems to be a factual and detached perspective on the P in the vaccine.

For parents who need to be convinced that vaccines do not work, this book would be helpful. If you already know that vaccines are deadly poisons, then you do not need to read this book. The author's also do not discourage vaccinating, but leave it open ended, even though it is obvious that vaccines are a lie, with deadly and profound consequences.

I wrote a book to describe how to have superbly healthy children, and it requires that you DO NOT vaccinate them. Vaccines are in complete opposition to what wise medical doctors have found throughout time, that immunity to disease has to do with how we live, not from shots of poison. There is a risk that comes with everything, even taking a peaceful walk in the woods, does that mean we shouldn't? Vaccines DO save lives, do some more research on real medical literature written by people more knowledgeable on the topic than the author. It is absolutely inconceivable, and egoistic not to vaccinate your children and it would prove to be a complete disaster in the long run. Talk to, see and stay with a person that has Diphtheria, Tetanus or Pertussis for a few moments before you make the decision. Trust me the diseases still exist and they will and might get back if people made the decision not to vaccinate and THAT is scary!

What is wrong with people? Why do you think there is some conspiracy to hurt children with immunizations?

The development of vaccines is the most important invention in the history of medicine. They have saved millions of lives - that is a fact.

There is always risk to any medical treatment - but parents who do not vaccinate their children are putting their children at risk for serious medical problems. Please do not put your trust in one or two people on the fringes of medicine who lack even a basic education in medicine. Why would you listen to such counsel? I truly do not understand...

When your car breaks down, do you take it to the grocery story? When your pipes get clogged, do you call your banker?
When your child is sick, do you take him to a political historian? I certainly hope not.

The author of this book has no medical education other than medical history. It was written with a political bent.

If you live near an old cemetery, just take a stroll sometime and look at the dates on the old headstones from the 1800's and you will get a first-hand look at the pre-vaccine era.

And if you decide not vaccinate your children, never let them leave the United States -- at least they benefit from herd immunity here.

I read this book after I had already planned on not vaccinating. It still was a blessing. It has some heart wrenching stories about real families who were damaged by something that doctors say(really lie about) will protect you. My son had an adverse reaction to a vaccination. The doctors are either mis-informed or LIARS!!! Greedy for gain and they could care less about you. But I as a human being, who knows nothing about you is giving you advise: READ THIS BOOK AND OTHERS, DONT BE A FOLLOWER, YOUR CHILDRENS LIVES DEPEND ON IT, YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS ONE DAY, DONT EVER VACCINATE!!!!

I wish I had read this book before I had my daughter vaccinated,unfortunately she died right after receiving her vaccines in 2001,they tried blaming it on SIDS(very easy cover up) but I hired a lawyer and proved it wrong,I didn't get any money nor did I want that as it won't replace what I lost,I wanted to prove a point.If parents only knew what was in these vaccines and how alot of these aren't really needed they would be appalled.There is a reason they make you sign a consent form in the Dr's office and every state has a Vaccine Injury Compensation Program(VICP) and a VAERS(vaccine adverse event reporting system)in place.Alot of Dr's won't even vaccine their own kids because of the dangers and Dr's get paid a set amount of $ to administer these shots to our kids.Read this book please,all the side effects that our kids experience after receiving the vaccine are NOT normal.If I only knew then what I know now.One more thing,when the schools and daycares tell you that they can't enter without the vaccines,don't believe them,there are very easy ways around it,my son goes to school no problem without them and is healthy as can be.

Despite its title, Stop the Shots!: Are Vaccinations Killing Our Pets? does not advocate stopping all pet vaccinations, and especially does not recommend stopping all vaccinations that protect from the most widespread and deadly infections like rabies, parvovirus and canine distemper for dogs, and panleukopenia and rhinotracheitis/calcivirus for cats. Yet award-finalist author and pet lover John Clifton logically and rationally argues against so-called conventional wisdom, such as vaccinating against diseases that pets will never be exposed to (like Lyme disease for a pet that does not live in or won't travel to an area infested with it) or the use of annual booster shots. Chapters discuss how vaccines work, the health detriments to over-vaccination such as increased risk of pet cancer or curtailment of the pet's immune system's ability to naturally fight off diseases, factors to keep in mind when deciding when the proper time is for a booster shot, and much more. Enthusiastically recommended for animal owners and would-be owners as an informative aid to decide the right amount of vaccines to protect one's pet and keep it as healthy as possible.

I just read this great book and it confirmed what I already knew.
It makes perfect common sense and lets the reader think "outside the box"!

I was able to keep my beloved Basset Hound that had Addisons Desease (Autoimmune Disorder)five more wonderful years because "I stopped the shots" while vets constantly tried to convince me not to! Great book!

Not a very long book, but well researched. It's hard to write a long book on just one subject. I wanted to get other opinions on vaccinations because I had a dog who reacted to her shots and developed an autoimmune disease. I spent much money on trying to save her life over 3 years. I now have her great-niece and do not vaccinate (puppy shots only). So much information out there regarding the pros and cons on vaccines, raw feeding, etc. This is just one on vaccinations only.

Most pet owners don't know the harm they are doing by vaccinating their pets yearly. They are putting their pets in danger rather than helping them stay healthy. Read this book before giving your dog another vaccine! And find a vet that supports your decision not to vaccinate and a vet who will do titers.

An easy to read,informative book that should be compulsory reading for all pet owners.

In 2001, the United States came under its first-ever serious biological attack, when envelopes containing anthrax began to be received by government officials and media people. In the United States Senate, Bill Frist, the only M.D. serving in the Senate and a long-time proponent of readiness against bioterrorism, leaped into action, making himself and his website a clearinghouse of information about the situation. In 2002, Senator Frist compiled his information on bioterrorism in this succinct and easy to understand book.

The first chapter of the book is Senator Frist's timeline of the 2001 anthrax attack. The second chapter focuses on what the average American should have to prepare for a bioterrorist event, which contains information on what you should do, and what you should have (largely a standard disaster kit). After that, the book has six chapters on viruses and bacteria likely to be used by bioterrorists (anthrax, smallpox, plague, tularemia, and Ebola and other viral hemorrhagic fevers), including what they are, how they are recognized and a threat analysis of the organism. Finally, Senator Frist looks at chemical weapons, and what the nation needs to do to be more prepared for future bioterrorism.

I have read several books on bioterrorism of late, and this one is the most down to earth, and practical book of them all. It is not meant to alarm the reader or provoke action, but merely gives out the pertinent information, so that the reader can understand the issues involved. If you want a simple analysis of bioterrorism, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Bill Frist may be the Senate's only doctor, but he's no expert on bioterrorism. His opportunism in the wake of a serious tragedy is appalling. I know some of the Senate staffers who were exposed to anthrax, and many of the things he wrote in the book - and said at the time - simply aren't true. For example, Frist claims that Daschle staffers called his office for advice the day their letter was opened. Untrue. Frist was also known to have said after the death of Robert Stevens in Florida that there would never be another death from inhalation anthrax in America. Wrong - there were four more within a few weeks, and there might have been even more if some had not taken additional antibiotics and/or the anthrax vaccine (something Frist irresponsibly advised against). Frist loves to portray himself as the expert on all things medical, but he lacks the expertise to write this shallow, self-serving book, and he lacks the integrity to tell the truth.

But the answer it seems is not exactly what we would expect. Rather than locking ourselves away in our suburban communities, duct-taping our windows and doors, Frist suggests rather that we switch from a diversified portfolio to one which will profit most from the coming crisis. His no nonsense approach to crisis investing includes chapters on shortselling, margin calls, and inside advice on pharmaceutical stocks.

I have worked in the field of Bioterrorism for 2 years now. I personally feel that books like this pose a certain danger. There is no quick fix for most types of bioterror, in the same way that duck and cover is no kind of real response to a nuclear blast. There is no real "family guide". The best protection is: 1. Establishing a good relationship with your family physician and 2. Preparing the standard disaster kit your family should own for the much more likely disasters- earthquakes, fires, floods, hurricanes, etc.
In a bioterror incident, it is your public health and medical systems that will protect you. Period. Make sure they are funded properly in your region.

This book takes a survey-like look at the state of vaccines at the beginning of the 21st century, with each chapter focusing on one disease and the vaccines available for it. Each chapter is short, from 3 - 10 pages in length, and covers the history and science of that illness, and the history and science of the vaccines for it. The history portions of each chapter includes the source of the illness, its affect on human history, how it spreads, its symptoms, and biology. The vaccine portion includes a famous trials, and the names of the individuals, scientists and patients involved in making the vaccine(s). Most of the major infectious diseases are covered, such as polio, smallpox, chickenpox, and whooping cough. There are few exclusions, these primarily being the more recent ones, like the vaccine against cervical cancer. Another nice feature of the book are the appendices, which cover the legal aspects of vaccine usage, and how vaccines are tested in clinical trials. Overall, the book is quite complete, and quite readable for anyone with some science background. The only thing missing is a comprehensive timeline of events.

Dr. Link gives an overview of the history of vaccination and immunization, and ethical issues raised by this. He also has a chapter devoted to known vaccine failures and worse; the best known was the Bundaberg disaster in Australia in the 1920s, involving a batch of bacteria-contaminated vaccine. There were also examples of polio vaccine that gave people polio, and hepatitis spread by smallpox vaccination.

He describes the diseases they prevent and what they did to people, since most of us have never known anyone who had some of them, and why people should or should not take the vaccine. He also debunks the vaccines-cause-autism thing, but does admit that the P component of the DPT vaccine does cause neurological damage in a small percentage of people who take it. This is well known in medical circles. There was considerable skepticism raised about the chicken pox vaccine; he saw no indication in giving it to healthy children, and I have to agree. There are also chapters about anthrax and smallpox vaccination and the problems that have arisen from them.

The back of the book has the suggested vaccine schedule; he also gives provisions for spreading them out should the parents wish to do so.

Some people may not agree with what he says, but he's old enough to have encountered many of the diseases nobody gets nowadays and that is his only agenda.

This book is very current and gets to the point on all the various things that parents worry about with respect to vaccines. Well written and very useful!

Excellent review regarding this very controversial subject. It shows well-documented evidence that vaccines do not cause autism and all the other illnesses fueling the flames on Oprah. A must read for people who approach this subject honestly.

This book was published by Immunizations for Public Health, which is sponsored by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). That's fine if you're okay with standard medical propaganda. The intent of this book is NOT to provide an honest assessment of vaccine risks, but rather to assuage parental anxiety and convince you that vaccination is safe and effective. If that's all you want, then you can save your money and simply visit any pro-vaccine website and follow their recommendations. Other books are available that will provide honest, unbiased data to help you make informed decisions. For example, the Vaccine Safety Manual summarizes vaccine studies from around the world. The Vaccine Guide is commendable as well.

This book does an excellent job of explaining how causation is shown or disproven through medical research. After doing that it takes you through a comprehensive review of what is known about risks of vaccines. It also shows how effective vaccines have been in reducing multiple life threatening illnesses. If are thinking of not vaccinating your kids, this will make you think twice.

As a parent of two boys I had many questions about vaccines. I was confused by all of the alternate points of view on the safety of vaccines. This book helped clarify ALL of my questions and makes me feel confident in the choices I make to vaccinate my kids on time!
