This book helped me through the hardest time of my life. It exampled what I was going through and why I was going through it better than any other book I read on pregancy.

I thank God every day for my little gifts and having the strength to endore the pregnancy and the birth. This book helped me through both. I would recommend it to anyone expecting a multiple birth.

My husband and I are expecting twins. We have read about five different books regarding pregnancy, birth and raising multiples, but this was the best book by far. It includes an incredible amount of practical information, including a great set of check lists that will help you prepare for birth. This is the book that I recommend to every couple that I know who are expecting more than one baby.

The absolute MUST HAVE book for a healthy twin pregnancy!!

I am convinced that this book is responsible for my making it to 38 weeks and delivering such big, healthy twins (7.5 and 5.5 lbs!). The thing I loved most about the book is that it focuses on what YOU can do to impact your pregnancy and it kept me focused and positive throughout. It seems every time I left the doctor's office I was in tears due to all of the warnings about twin pregnancy, but Dr. Luke's advice was positive and calming without being scary or dwelling on those things that are out of one's control. Following Dr. Luke's advice on rest and diet enabled me to stay at home and enjoy a relatively uneventful pregnancy with my high risk identical twins. I felt as though the advice on twins in the other pregnancy books was way off and even my doctor's office seemed to miss the boat regarding nutrition, treating my twin pregnancy as a regular pregnancy plus five or ten pounds. I followed Dr. Luke's advice - not my doctor's - on nutrition and it was this book that opened my eyes to some potentially damaging medication interactions that my doctor's office didn't mention. With this book, I felt as if I had my own personal twin specialist guiding me through the pregnancy and I felt very validated for all of the things I was experiencing that weren't typical of a "normal" single pregnancy. Buy this book! I tell everyone I know about it. I even suggested that my OB get a copy for her practice! Thank you, thank you Dr. Luke, I will always be grateful that I came across this book when I did!!!

Great resource about pregnancy- not so much about birthing them!

This book was a great resource to providing information on how to have a healthy pregnancy with twins. I just wish my Doctor could have read it too!
One thing it didn't help with so much was the means by which to get the babies out in the safest way. I ended up with a c-section and after lots and lots of research have come to the conclusion that it was unnecessary, especially after having my first singleton all naturally.

Carried my triplets to full term because of this book!!!!!!

This is THE ultimate in navigating the waters of a triplet or higher pregnancy. There is so little information on higher order multiples and this it IT! An easy read and it gives you the information you need to have a successful higher order multiples pregnancy. SO informative. I followed her eating plan, not to the dot, but as best I could.... basically eating all day anything/everything I could stand/keep down. My triplets were born at full term all weighting over 5lbs and roomed in with me like a singleton and we all came home together!!!!! I honestly do not think my pregnancy would have been so successful without this book. I can not recommend it enough. I bought and read all the multiples books on the market to date and if you can only buy one
(even if you are just pregnant with twins) I would recommend it, but it is especially essential for triplet/quad and higher multiple order moms to be.

Excellent Book!!!

This book was one of the keys to my healthy twin pregnancy. True, it's hard to follow the nutritional advice to the letter, but you just do the best you can. I promise that if you're not a big fan of meat, you will get used to it when you know that you're helping your babies grow. The book also contains nutritional advice for vegetarians. I started out at a BMI of 18 and carried my twins to 38 weeks (scheduled c-section, never went into labor) with no complications and no bedrest. Both were born at about 6.5 pounds each, spent no time in the NICU, roomed in with us at the hospital, and came home with us. Doctors, nurses, etc were impressed at their size and health. The advice in this book drove me to make sure that my workweek did not exceed 40 hours (with a note from the doctor and a desk job which made it possible), and my husband handled literally all household chores starting around 30 weeks when I really needed to have my feet up after work. Dr. Luke says not to expect to work past 28 weeks but I think it's possible if your managers are supportive, if you can stay off your feet, and if you can limit stress on the job. I worked up to 37.5 weeks. Drink water, water, water! My only trip to L&D due to having more than 6 contractions/hour were due purely to dehydration. If you're expecting twins or supertwins, get this book! I was reluctant to buy any book on multiples until I passed my 12th week (didn't want to jinx myself with all the scare on vanishing twin syndrome), but this book has lots of info on maximizing the outcome of your pregnancy as soon as you know you're pregnant with twins/multiples so if you're not afraid of buying before 12 weeks, then this is a must read. Also contains helpful advice on surviving the first few weeks at home with your new babies.

I bought this book because the triplets: Austin, Grant and Sabrina are all in my 4th grade class now. Their parents wrote the book about raising them, and they are terrific parents. The triplets are all very bright, well mannered and creative. Bill and Sheila have definite boundaries and the children are well behaved. I never had multiple birth children of my own, but if I knew someone who did, I'd definitely pass on this book to them. I can't believe all the creative ideas they came up with to deal with three babies at once. Definitely a book for parents of twins, or triplets or more!

I am expecting triplets and thought this book was rather entertaining. It is a reality check for all you parents expecting three! I belong to a local triplet club, and the stories they tell me are very consistent with the author's. Read this BEFORE the babies are born (when you have lots of time) so it helps you prepare logistically and mentally. At first I thought the tips were basic, but the next day as I was thinking about the book in my head, I remembered some rather valuable tips that I had never heard or thought of. I am also going to send away for the freebies - seems like a very complete list. I also love all the side quotes that are scattered throughout the book. The authors are very down to earth and keep it real.

I bought this book based on the positive reviews I saw here at Amazon, but I was very disappointed when I read the book myself. I have 6-month-old twins and although there were some useful tips here and there, I feel that the book is really geared more toward triplets and higher-level multiples. The biggest example: this book barely addresses breastfeeding (very do-able with twins; much more challenging with triplets and more) and instead spends a great deal of time offering advice for coordinating the preparation of bottles and formula. While it is wonderful that those of you with 3+ have this book, I don't recommend it to parents of twins.

Good basic info to read when your babes are little

I read this when my triplets were 6 months old (boy, boy, girl) - sleeping all night and I actually had time to read something. I'd suggest buying this and reading it before the babes arrive. All of the addresses for free stuff they list are GREAT! I sent to all of them and probably got $800 worth of free stuff. The enfamil formula was worth it alone. So write out all of your envelopes BEFORE they are born then just copy your birth certs, and zoom -- free stuff. The UPS guy was wondering what was up at our house as I got boxes daily. Some of the other tips I figured out along the way too, but should have read this book during my 3 months of bed rest. So buy this book was soon as you know you've got the BIG 3 coming and buy bibs every time you see them!

There's a lot of twin books out there, but very few for us triplet folks and believe me, when you and your spouse are each feeding one -- the 3rd always knows it and that's when you belong to the triplet club. So grab any info you can for triplets because they've got you outnumber and they know it very young. The triplet connection is a great website too. This info is also provided in this book.

I have no doubt that this book is great for the first time mother, but for someone who has had a child previously, there was not a lot of new information. There is a lot of good basic pregnancy information here, but much of the multiple pregnancy info could be concluded from singleton pregnancy books and good common sense. I wanted specific information on what I could do to prevent pre-term labor, how much to eat and what, and my limitations. This book did not enlighten me very much at all.

Great book. Right on target.

When I was pregnant with my twins, I was looking for a book that was very factual. I wanted the facts, I wanted the numbers, and I wanted it in a straight way. This book does just that. It's no sugar-coated description of a multiple pregnancy and its possible risks. I would greatly recommended to all expecting multiples.

However, as much as I thought I was prepared, I really wasn't. My twins came 2 months earlier and spent 6 weeks in the NICU. I kept referring to the book as the babies were resting in the hospital. They are now happy and healthy and very active 19 month olds! Good luck!

The complications with a multiple birth can hardly be tackled in-depth in any one volume, but this book does a great job balancing common-sense medical wisdos and spelling out the innumerable risks to mother and babies. Your OB-GYN can point you to another book that deals with your specific medical problems. As a present for being stuck in bed-rest,I gave my wife: "I SLEEP AT RED LIGHTS: A TRUE STORY OF LIFE AFTER TRIPLETS," by Bruce Stockler, and she loved it. The funniest and most hopeful book about the troubles of multiples and parenting in general. Good luck to all mutiples parents!

I bought this book the day after I found out I was having twins and didn't put it down my entire pregnancy. This is a wonderful book. It's written with the unique joys and trials of a multiple pregnancy spelled out clearly. The author is factual and friendly without being preachy like some other pregnancy books I read. It covers both the emotional and physical aspects of a multiple pregnancy and does a great job of preparing the reader for labor and birth(s).

I discovered this book about halfway through my pregnancy and was so disappointed not to have found it sooner! It is by far the best twin pregnancy book I have read. A twin pregnancy is such a unique experience and after reading a general pregnancy book or two, you find yourself with lots of questions left unanswered. I kept asking myself, "But how will this be different for me?" Nancy Bowers has the answers. This book is well-organized, well-researched, and covers all aspects of multiple pregnancy in an honest, forth-right manner. Part III "The Joys and Challenges of Being High Risk" can be a bit overwhelming. Here, Bowers reviews the possible problems that can arise during a multiple pregnancy, however she is not alarmist about it. Rather she frequently points out that statistically most of the problems seldom occur. I found it informative and was glad to have the risks spelled out; others might find it somewhat frightening if not kept in perspective --most multiple pregnancies/births are normal and healthy. I'm now 33 weeks pregnant with my twins and reference this book all the time. I had my husband read it and he found it an informative, easy read. We are about to be first time parents and welcome all the info we can get on this very unique experience. Truly a must read for all parents expecting multiples!

I have read several twin pregnancy books, and this one is the least informative by far. The author focuses on her own pregnancy, while putting a little too much emphasis on her opinion that almost all twin pregnancies result in preterm labor and time spent in the NICU for the babies. Though there is a greater risk of preterm issues, they shouldn't be the focus. I just recommend other twin books and there are GREAT ones out there!

How do I even start...I found this book to be informative, but also to be the laughter that I've needed for months. The author uses a lot of humor and reality based writing for her readers. I think having had a child previously I was able to relate to her sense humor while pregnant and through delivery. Even if you do not find this book to be informative enough for you, I can promise it will be the laughter that you have needed for many months. I tried reading on my breaks at work and would laugh so hard that I had to stop. I would then try to explain to someone why I am laughing and would laugh so hard while trying to explain that tears would just role down my cheek. Thank you Dr. Rachel Franklin for the real life reading.

Expecting for the first time and learning it was going to be twins, I was very anxious about what to expect and how a twin pregnancy would be different from a "normal" pregnancy. This book covers with humor and medical knowledge the reality of twins and what to do to prepare both mentally and physically. Many books are out there, but this quick read is a reference you will pick up again and again.

Finally -- a book about multiples pregnancy that doesn't make you wish you'd joined a convent! I bought this book the day my husband and I discovered that we were expecting twins; thus far, it's the only resource I've found that presents the joys and potential problems of multiples pregnancy with a positive outlook and an even-handed approach.

Medical information is plentiful (as you would expect), but this book is anything but clinical in it's presentation. Think of it as the "girlfriend's guide" to multiples pregnancy. Overall, it's an excellent resource for anyone expecting more than one, and a godsend for couples like my husband and me, who will be first-time parents.

As a mother of triplets, I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is important for mothers of multiples to know that there are other people out there who understand their situation. I can especially relate to the chapter in which the author describes some of the ridiculous questions that people will ask you when they see you with triplets, many of which are extremely personal! I highly recommend this book for any mother of multiples.

This is an excellent book! As a mother of twins, I ordered this book because I was curious of how it would have been with triplets. I almost devoured every page of it, together with my breakfast (my only "free time" of the day)! Other than the lupus, everything is so close to what we have experienced with the twins and an older child! I even bought this book for a friend, who is expecting twins, because Mrs.Hall gives you a great description of what raising multiples means.

Great reading for those planning to have children, those who aren't planning to and for those who already have them. This book covers the joys and tribulations of a problem pregnancy, and the arrival of triplets. Mrs. Hall tells their story matter-of-factly and with humor. It includes a chapter written by Mr. Hall telling his side of the story. Keeping their sense of humor has been a major factor in keeping their sanity when faced with birthing and raising triplets. They have done an excellent job with their children and educating others of the joys of multiples. I hope there will be a sequel to this story. I'd enjoy keeping up with their adventures! A must read!

My husband bought this book when we found out we were expecting twins and so I decided to read it too. It really is more of an overview on the subject with very little detailed information for mom. I read it in an afternoon and didn't find it helpful in detailed nutritional information, indepth discussions on birthing options or logistics for after babies arrive but its posative and upbeat tone is perfect for alaying dad's fears and giving him a good brief of what's in store without all the additional information that mom would find useful but he may find pointless. Written in more of a "for dummies" format it is a quick read but if you rely on details you will probably want to research a different book.

I sent this book to my best friend who is expecting Triplets next year. I went to visit her the other day and found this book (with oodles of page flags) on her coffee table. She says that it is one of the 2 most helpful books she has gotten on her multiple pregancy-- the other being a buying guide. I scanned through the book and it is all about how to do things effeciently for parents of triplets. It really just gives you the advice you need for doing everyday baby tasks with 3 babies at once from diaper changes to feedings to taking a shower when you're alone with 3 babies! For instance, one piece of advice was to change all diapers at once- even if only one is dirtied as it helps establish a managable routine for the parents. Another thing I liked is that the information is provided in bullet, short paragraph style and the points are made in a concise manner. I am sure that is handy as parents of triplets probably don't have much time to read! She said that this is definitely a must for new parents of multiples! It gives you a heads up on those little things that can be so difficult when multiplied by three that one wouldn't even think of on the front end. I'm proud that I gave her the right book!

My husband bought me this book while I was on bedrest awaiting the arrival of our twin girls. I was eager to soak in as much info as possible before they arrived. What I first noticed was how dated the photos inside looked and as I read on I realized that the book was orignally written in the 1980's with perhaps a few later revisions. The stats that were quoted about things like twin birth rates, mothers returning to the work force and even baby gear were terribly outdated. Like some of the other readers, I did think some of the basic twin information was somewhat useful, but I was definitely disappointed that it was not more current.

This book didn't provide much useful information on how to survive the daily life with twins. It's focus is mainly the emotional health of the family-- which *is* important. But I was wanting a book that would help me deal with the trivial things we take for granted before having twins. It is a nicely laid out book-- I loved the pictures. But the information *I* wanted just wasn't there.

Good to look at but leave it in the store.

It does have a few funny answers to the questions that moms of multiples seem to get a lot! It was fun to look at and read for the enjoyment of it..

As an expectant mother of boy/girl twins, I am dying to read anything on the topic of being pregnant with twins and the issues you face once they have finally arrived after the nine long months of anticipation. At this point, both my husband and I have read this book and have found it to be not worth the money we spent!
Hindsight being 20/20, maybe we would have reconsidered the purchase of this book had we noticed that the author is not a doctor or psychologist, rather an journalist who seems to revel in writing pseudo-psycho babble on child rearing.
After I was done reading this tome, I was left in tears fearing I would be a disastrous parent because I am not planning on breast feeding (personal choice I have a right to!), I am planning on going back to work after the twins birth, ad nauseum with things Ms. Novotny told me would make me a bad parent.
The book overall doesn't have the tone/manner of being a book of 2002, let alone one from 2000. If you clearly look at the pictures incorporated, you see adorable children in strollers, cribs, etc. that would horrify the CPSP (Consumer Products Safety Commission) as they clearly do not represnt products that are up to code with todays safety standards. (This as well should have been a clue, while I was perusing it in the bookstore!)
Overall, I felt my money was wasted and that I should have spent my [money] on something cute for the babies to wear.

Triplet Mom puts this book to the test....

The concept of this book is a good idea, but I think it falls short in many areas. The times printed for on each day cannot possibly meet everyone's needs, it would be better to leave this area blank so the parents can write in their own schedule - I spent everyday crossing out the printed info for 3 pages (1 for each kid) then writing in the times I needed. As a new triplet Mom I really didn't have the time to spare.

We ended up making our own forms on the computer, it seemed like such a waste to have a page per day - per baby. We preferred combining all 3 babies on one page per day, it was a quick reference for tired parents just trying to make sure they have kept all of the babies fed and changed.

Please don't waste your money

I spent the [money] thinking this was just the ticket. What a waste. I am getting my money back. The charts make no sense. There's not even space for separate notes on each baby. It is useless for me (I have triplets). I'm sure it was helpful for the person who designed it, which is what I am going to do now - design my own.
