Patrick Hafner's book, "Injury Afoot" is the best I've found that has so much great information about Plantar Fasciitis in ONE PLACE! With such a common foot problem, so nice to have multiple possible solutions to try. My feet feel better already!

Well this is a great resource for one of the most vexing running injuries I have ever had. The information contained here will definatly help put anyone on the road,(the long road) to recovery. I know many non-runners who work on their feet, teachers, nurses even coaches and non-atheletes who would beneifet from this text, in its entireity.
I also recommend more the book, "The 5 Mintue Plantar Fasciitis Cure", which is more to the salient point of the singular componet of relief.
Please note WHATEVER you do or try you MUST BE VIGILANT in your approach, this injury requies long term rehab, 6 months to life would be about right.

"Injury Afoot" contains very readable explanations (with pictures) of 30 different, non-invasive ways you can treat plantar fasciitis. It's made more interesting by examples and anecdotes from the author's life. It has a prominent place on my bedside table, for easy review of the stretches and other recommendations.

The advice in this book WORKS!

I suffered for over a year - even took two cortisone shots (yikes) - and I could barely walk from plantar fasciitis symptoms in my left foot. It felt like a searing-hot poker was shoved in the bottom of my foot. Riding in the car or even sitting at my desk, the foot hurt all the time.

After implementing many of the tactics in this book, I can truly say that I am now back to hour-long walks without limping and pain, and have no pain whatsoever when sleeping or even when rising from sleep or sitting long periods.

Simple, straight-foward, well-rounded info

Having searched and searched for a plantar fasciitis cure, it's clear that not one single solution works for everyone; what works for one person does not necessarily work for someone else, and it might be a combination of things that finally does the trick. I like the idea of having various simple things to try, and having all those items in one place is a huge time-saver. The book "Injury Afoot" doesn't make you think there's a quick-fix for plantar fasciitis (since there isn't one), so you're not going to have false expectations of what's ahead of you. Also, this book is affordable!

Here's a fantastic book that really gets to the point about plantar fasciitis. It contains a wealth of information that I'd expect to spend a lot more money than its price to get. There's a detailed but non-intimidating or boring description of the condition, how to treat it effectively and how to prevent its return. The material is based on scientific evidence and the book even includes a chapter-by-chapter comprehensive list of supporting references. I found such detailed authentication very impressive.

The author targets the facts and presents them in a way that is easy to understand. Illustrations, organized charts, boxed paragraphs and chapter summaries appear throughout this book. They helped me to visualize, comprehend, and remember the essentials for the self-help process.

I particularly liked the question and answer format used to lay out the facts. It set a friendly, congenial tone to my reading experience which helped me with the learning process. This style and the easy-to-understand explanations gave me a comfort level with terminology that otherwise might have been intimidating or boring. And I felt like I stayed on track as I read because the author seemed to anticipate what my next question or concern would be. Invariably they appeared along with answers and solutions within the next page or so. The book has a very well-organized, logical flow of thought and information from one chapter section to the next and on to the following chapter. In my opinion, besides containing comprehensive information about plantar fasciitis, there is no question that the book's author has the instructional skills to effectively present it to people in a crystal-clear style that allows them to understand it and feel better as a result.

I highly recommend this book to anyone experiencing or concerned about plantar fasciitis. It is truly a bargain for the high quality book and comprehensive information you get for its cost.

I have spent a lot of money on my foot with this problem. After reading this book and doing the recommended treatment. I am healing. I have had Plantar Fascitis for over two years. This is the only thing that has worked for me.

I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars only because of the cost. I had tried many suggestions found online, from my Dr. & even from a PT to help my Plantar Fasciitis. This book has one simple exercise that takes a total of 5 mins. a day and it REALLY WORKS. At first I was skeptical because it is similar to a stretch given to me by a PT but the secret seems to be in the timing of when you do it. I won't say anymore so as not to give away the author's secret! As other readers have stated, the book also offers information on the topic in a quick & easy to read format. Although I hated paying so much for a short & simple book that I won't use again, the relief of pain is worth far more than the price of the book!

This pamphlet/workbook seemed a bit overpriced for such a small book, but it's worth every penny. The therapy described in the book is effective and easy to accomplish. I have some trouble with the stretches described first thing in the morning owing to general stiffness overall, but have discovered that I can use a proStretch device (also available at amazon.com with supersaver shipping) to accomplish the morning stretches. It almost seems unlikely that the exercises in this book can be so effective as they are. Yet only two weeks ago I was worried about how I would be able to manage this fall's teaching work up on my feet. Now, I don't have any significant plantars fasciitis pain at all. In addition to these really effective simple foot stretches, the book evaluates other therapies for treating PF by researching medical studies. The author concludes that additional helpful measures include calf stretching and some arch support in shoes (I chose Tuli diamondbacks - very effective and small, also with free supersaver shipping). If you are really suffering from PF, I think this is worth your time to try it.

I practice ballroom dancing a lot. After a lot of dancing, my arches would hurt. Well, after reading this book and putting the ideas into practice, my arches don't hurt any more. I have even been to a week long dance camp and not had problem; while others were soaking their feet and complaining a lot. A wonderful and practical book that helped me a lot.

Don't waste your money. I did and was sorry. And to add insult to injury I was overcharged by the distributors, BCH Fulfillment.

The book could have been written in a single evening and contains mainly childish line drawings and blank "separator" pages.

I bought the ebook version of this and was disappointed. It is a workbook format which presents a understanding of why plantar fasciitis occurs -the tendons and ligaments are strained because they are doing work meant to be done by muscles. The "foot arch muscle" gets weak and so the foot arch collapses causing plantar faciitis and other conditons. So you strengthen the "foot arch muscle". The "foot arch muscle" is not in the foot but in the calf and you are supposed to keep it tense and "walk the right way" - toes pointing straight ahead. oh and you can do calf raises - up on your toes and down. that's about it.

Overly simple and full of mistakes.

Book Review: "A New Foot Health Solution" by Dennis Denlinger

I strongly do not recommend this book. This is an old book created by an architect/engineer who used shoddy analysis to derive a couple overly simple techniques. His engineering background evidently didn't help him much, as Mr. Denlinger makes a number of gross biomechanical mistakes in this book. He attributes flat feet to "under pronation" and a "high arch" to "over pronation". Quite the opposite is true - flat feet are pronated too much and high arches do not pronate much. Denlinger does not understand the very *definition* of foot pronation, which is fundamental to the it's role in plantar fasciitis and it's function of the arch. He also attributes the "main arch muscle" to the peroneal tendon and related muscles, which is also grossly incorrect. Tightening the peroneal tendon everts the foot which relates to pronation and flattening of the arch - it does not support the arch.

In 84 pages, he wastes a lot of time describing how he "discovered" his technique and gives very simplistic descriptions of bones, muscles and tendons that would be appropriate for a 5 year old. In his "workbook" section, he states "Muscles move the body around and can move other things around..." Then he asks, "give three examples of things muscles do (like running, lifting, etc.)." Unfortunately (or fortunately) he does not give answers to his questions, so I guess I'll never know if I answered this correctly.

What is his "secret"? In a neutral position with toes pointing straight ahead, you press with the ball of the foot to the floor in such a way that you "create an arch with your foot". And the only exercise he suggests is "toe raises" to strengthen the "arch muscle". He does not provide any stretching exercises.

Denlinger gives an inexcusably misleading lesson in functional anatomy and only offers a couple simplistic exercises. Exercise and stretching can be beneficial to foot problems, but you won't find quality information in this book. Plantar fasciitis is caused by many different things, and a podiatrist can provide you with stretching and strengthening exercises custom for your situation. All of the plantar fasciitis exercises are also easily found for free on the web.

Louis S.

This book is a complete waste of your money. It is written for a simpleton. This book lists on Amazon for an exuberant amount of money making one believe the content must be valuable, with the intent that you will buy direct from author's site believing you're getting a deal. I was suckered!
I found myself feeling as though I was reading a book for a 4th grader. Both my wife and I laughed that I was suckered into buying this. The 1st chapter which can be downloaded from the author's website is fairly well written making you believe the book may have some intrinsic value however, it is a total let down once you view the rest of this book. There is better, (if better can even be suggested?) more accurrate information for free on the internet if you simply search. I would have returned my copy but it was not worth the time or effort. I threw it in the trash so dissappointed. If you are suffering from arch pain as I am, this book will not solve your problem. It does not even provide enough education to justify selling it. This book is nothing more than an explotation of one person's realization 15 years ago that arch pain can often stem from having flat feet. There is not much more to the book than that. I would have rated it zero, but the rating system only goes to 1.

44 pages of information? You wish. In fact, there are 13 pages of printed text, with an average of two sentences per page. I can repeat all they say in the book right here, in my review. Rest, apply ice, stretch (they don't even say how), buy right shoes, go to the doctor. And if nothing helps, you may need a surgery. That's all the book says. There are not many more details than I just told you.
Very, very disappointed. Total rip-off. Do not buy.
