Another readable and current presentation from the Liturgical Press series! I particularly liked the photos from the holy
land (my favorite place in the whole world!). The author pithily summarizes the highpoints of each passage. As a pastor,
I find the text an excellent prep for homilies. It lets me be focussed and creative at the same time. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent compilation of current evidence-based practices from a inter-disciplinary approach -- orthopaedic surgeon,
physiotherapists, podiatrist-- to treatment of knee pathologies. Its authors are practitioners and researchers who are specialised
and reknown in this field of work. It covers topics from the anatomy and biomechanics of the knee and patella, the various
aetiologies and pathologies of the knee and patella, and treatment of the conditions. Related aspects like radiography and
electromyography are also covered. What is really attractive about this book is it is based on research evidence, which have
been up-to-date, and includes lists of references, and many illustrations. It is a comprehensive, pertinent and readable overview
of the patella disorders and their managements that allows one to further explore areas of interests using the references.

Paul and Roman Mithraism?

Per the editorial review:
"In his own writings, Paul draws from Mithraic vocabulary and symbolism."
That's interesting, considering the earliest Roman mention of Mithras was by Statius (ca. 80-92 AD) and modern scholarship places the earliest known Roman Mithraic bull-slaying monument to ca. 100 AD (see Richard Gordon, "The date and significance of CIMRM 598 [British Museum, Townley Collection]", JMS 2, 1977-8, 148-74) and Paul was dead by then.
If this author was using the outdated work of Cumont to develop this untenable theory - well, that's simply embarrassing. The controversial theory of David Ulansey offers no earlier concrete evidence either as all he has to go on is the second hand (or made up) account of Plutarch who connects the Roman cult with some Cilician pirates ca. 62 BC. But beyond this unsubstantiated literary reference the only concrete evidence for the Roman cult appears in the latter part of the 1st century AD...after Paul had "flourished."
