My 3 year old son brought me his "You and PKU" book to read the other night. It gives us a reason to discuss his PKU and
why he eats what he does and why he needs to ask a grown up before he eats a food.
I wasn't sure he would ever want to read it, but he picks it out as his bedtime story about once a month. I think he likes that it is about him - as he is the only one in the family/friends that has PKU so it must be all about him! (he is 3 afterall)
We sent a copy to day care so they could talk about why he drinks Super Milk and eats differently than the rest of the class. It gave the teacher a chance to talk about not only his PKU but the other kids allergies, etc.
