Sam Rocks!

I saw Sam speak at Mark Victor Hansen's Mega Speaking Event and I can tell you, she knows how to captivate an audience. Sam has a genuine style that comes across as sincere, professional, and experienced.

If you've never seen her speak, you're missing out. Sam delivers on content, humor, and info that each of us wants. She helps people re-evaluate their thinking in order to connect in a personal way with your audience by re-creating statements for personal branding.

Sam will teach you how to be creative in away that's practical. Pop is not about hype, it's about bringing your message to your people in a way that is unique and powerful at the same time.

I found that POP is for anyone who wants an edge over the competition because it's not about cheesy tactics to woo people, it's more about reaching people with the essence of who you are and transforming it in a punchy way in order to attract people to what you are selling/marketing.

I recommend it because it's valuable for people wanting to cut to the chase and grab the gems.

This is an amazing book! Sam shares with her readers new ways to grab our audience's interest and attention. She really does know how to help people get noticed in a crowd. This book has shown me how to positively inspire others to read my book, LifeChimes: A Collection of Simple TruthsLifeChimes: A Collection of Simple Truths, when they are looking for simple ways to stop zapping their energy. Because of Sam Horn's book, my work as an author and a motivational speaker has been made so much easier. Thanks Sam!

An awesome book for jazzing up your writing and speaking. Sam Horn crams so many ideas for creating buzz and imprinting your message and brand in the minds of listeners and readers that I found myself making checklists as I ran through the draft of my last book trying to find places I could use her principles and ideas. It's not all about marketing either. She has great ideas on the use of stories and quotes in your writing, how to create memorable content using lists and alliteration, and plenty of other techniques to make your writing come alive.

It's easy and fun to read as Sam is very clearly one of her own best students. Her writing is tight and wonderfully informative with no filler. The ideas are things nearly anyone that has to communicate (verbally or in writing) can use right away.

I felt a little bit self conscious rating this 5 stars: every other reviewer thus far has given it 5 stars as well. But 5 stars it is! I'd say that's a pretty clear message about the strength of the material.

It's the best marketing lesson you can buy for $15.

Imagine swimming in a deep cup of dark brown coffee. The smell of the thick liquid tantalizing to the olfactics, the taste rich and bitter all at once to the buds on the tongue, the visual of the slopping liquid so mixed with light creams and dirty mochas that it creates such an immense combinations of feelings deep in the mind. The emotions and feelings brought about from this book, are felt just as the feeling of, perhaps, swimming in coffee.
It's hot and sticky, steaming and burning, deep and dark, troubled and comforting, rich and bitter, light and dirty, staining to the mind and scalding to the senses. You're reaching for the edge of the cup (the pages) every second that passes, only to fumble back into the darkness so comforting and mind-numbing. This book will wrap you in it's liquid so drenching and overwhelming, you will beg for more.

One of the best books of prose you will ever read.

'Coma Therapy' is both hopeful and cynical; witty and serious; and brings all the boyish charm in the world with every brightly delivered line. With each story, Victorino pulls you into his past and makes you taste every detail as if the memory was yours. The entire book leaves no room for disappointment, and keeps you entertained until the very last word. From simplest of experiences to the most epic of events, whether it be about turtles in a pond or an unforgettable friendship with a drug addict plumber, 'Coma Therapy' flashes you a devilish grin and practically dares you to read on. And if you have any sense in your head, you will.

Victorino takes on the world in this book. With stories about sex, lies, death, drugs, love, friendship, and religion, it covers the spectrum of all human emotions and thoughts. I smiled, held my breath, laughed and was nearly brought to tears (not an easy feat, mind you). Currently on my fourth or fifth time through I still do all of those things. The descriptive nature of his writing, and the journalistic diary type content will keep you reading it over and over. BUY THIS BOOK.

Coma Therapy is a window revealing the true inside of an amazing author who hides nothing. The incredible sense of bare emotion and honesty written on each page hooks a reader deep into their heart, leaving no chance of release. Eric Victorino is an amazing artist and inspiration; Coma Therapy is my evidence.

Eric Victorino is one of my favorite vocalist/lyricist and this is his first stab at a book of thoughts, stories, poems, and ideas.

"Come Therapy" is easily relateable and most of the stories are short, concise and void of any babble.

Eric rants about many things including apathy, the truth about being on the road, our need for true and sincere feelings and relationships, meeting the "devil" and how their are "monsters everywhere."

He helps you see the beauty in the little things in life.

You can feel every word and after reading this you will definitely not feel lethargic, unconscious and unable to feel as if you were in a coma. You will be alert, appreciative, and ready to arise to the occasion that is life.

Simply put "Coma Therapy" is a journal of thoughts and stories about life and all its' splendor and sadness but it never dwells on the sadness. Come Therapy appreciates the sad, happy, dirty, seedy, and beauty that is our life.

5 out of 5 and everyone should buy this and then check out his new book coming out very soon.

De Lillo's White Noise is a modern classic. What I especially like about this edition (Viking Critical Library) is the extra material: articles and critical essays on the novel. Reading it was like taking a small course in cultural studies, or something... recommended!

I've sometimes asked myself why I don't get a library card and save the money I spend buying books. This book answered that question, because the reviews and essays featured in this edition provided such insight and enlightenment that I was inspired to return to the novel again and again for a more penetrating read.

The novel itself is beautifully, brilliantly written; DeLillo is a master ironist. Though I thoroughly enjoyed the novel the first time, I highly recommend revisiting it after reading the critical essays (which were so informative that they were quite enjoyable reads themselves).

If you're going to read White Noise outside of a college class, this is the edition you should get.

USEFUL FOR AN INEXPERIENCED INVESTOR. PRIMARY POINT IS TO FOCUS ON THE LONG TERM AND DO NOT RESPOND TO DAY TO DAY EVENTS COVERED IN THE MEDIA. SOME USEFUL INFORMATION ON WHICH STOCKS TO BUY AND WHEN. GOOD BUYS ARE FREQUENTLY NOT THE "BEST" STOCKS BUT RATHER THE ONES GETTTING THE LEAST ATTENTION FROM ANALYSTS AND THE MEDIA.

Another great book from Bernstein. This one is more accessible than Style Investing and has some great financial planning tips/exercises. After the last 2 years in the markets many investors should reasses their tolerance and goals and Bernstein gives a nice framework to do that within.

This is an outstanding book---the best I've read in 3 years. I particularly like the discussion of risk--how the general perception of risk differs form the investors point of view. And how the investor's perception of risk can be misinterpreted by the broker or financial consultant. A great discussion of value verses growth stocks and which do better under which circumstances. I learned alot by reading this book.

This is the best book I've read in several years. It is thought provoking and backed up by data to show which stocks do well and poorly over time. Alot of the information is counter-intuitive--i.e. shows how your gut instinct is often incorrect. I particularly like the book's discussion of risk, and how the conventional view of risk differs considerably for the average investors view of risk. I plan to reread this book soon.

I strongly recommend Richard Bernsteins Navigate the Noise

This readable book explains very important concepts (risk/reward, asset allocation etc.) very well. Serious long-term investors would be well advised to navigate the noise (I would suggest shutting off CNBC as a start), read Richard's book, and then create a diversified portfolio that is expected to help them fund their long-term liabilities (education, retirement etc.) while matching their true risk tolerance.

Justin Locke, who played eighteen years with the Boston Pops and other orchestras, has penned this collection of anecdotes and reminiscences from his days as a professional musician. His claim is that double bass players, of which he was one, have a unique perspective, because no one chooses to play the bass when they start--the decision tends to be made for them. While he is probably luckier than many musicians (he didn't have to audition to get into the Boston Pops, for example), by and large his observations on musical and career matters ring true, especially about practice and taking auditions for major orchestras. His funny stories didn't evoke a lot of outright guffaws from this reader but plenty of chuckles. There is some name-dropping but it's kept to a minimum, and the gentlemanly Locke mostly resists the easy temptation of conductor-bashing. Overall, his tales contain many moments to which musicians who are not superstars but nevertheless plugging away at their careers can relate. I can think of a lot of people to whom I'd recommend this volume.

Well, I got "Real Men Don't Rehearse" yesterday afternoon and it was finished by bedtime. It was GREAT! I couldn't put it down as I related to so many of the experiences Justin wrote about (I'm a freelance oboist). I was in tears reading about the charter plane emergency procedures. "BUCK-LE, BUCK-LE......OOOOOOOH" HAHAHAHAHA Now, I have never had the pleasure of touring with a group (I'm in South FL and there just aren't many touring groups, if any, from this area). The closest I have come to "touring" so far is a high school band trip (MANY years ago) to D.C., and the airplane ride Justin described sounded like what the clowns in band would pull. They never grow up, do they?

Thanks for a great book. It was a nice way to unwind last night.

I loved this book! I myself am a musician and bought this for one of my musician friends for Christmas. I started flipping through the book and knew I had to get a copy for myself. Lots of fun stories that both musicians and non-musicians would enjoy. Gives you an "insider's look" at the world of professional musicians. The chapters are short enough that you can read one or two before bed. (Although I just wanted to keep reading!)

I read so many books, that I often read and forget them a week later. Not this book. Static has stayed in my mind. Many of the concepts Dr. Martoia shares in this book can change the way you see the people around you, and the language you use to talk to them about important things in life. I keep hunting down my copy to remember points. To me, that has to be the mark of a book that impacts my world.

Communicating Christ with Clarity

Review Date: 2008-03-03
Are you interested in learning how to share Christ with others in a way that doesn't come across as arrogant or demeaning? Do you really understand how words like "gospel," "born again," "saved," etc. come across to someone who doesn't follow Jesus Christ? Words like these have become part of our Christian heritage, but when we use them with people they doesn't always communicate what we're trying to communicate!

As a Worship Pastor, I found this book to be both incredibly timely and incredibly pertinent to the state of Christianity today. Dr. Martioa weaves a narrative from his own experiences to illustrate the foundational principles of learning how to communicate our faith in Christ clearly, without the "baggage" associated with some of the standard "Christian terminology." It's a smooth, easy read that really challenges those who claim Christ to learn about how we represent Him when we talk to others. The words and phrases we typcially use, which make perfect sense to us, does not send the message think we're sending when we use them. To be effective in sharing our faith, we've got to learn to communicate in a language and vocabulary that makes sense to the people who are receiving it. "Static" will start that process in your life!!

If you are tired of reading something that promises to be fresh, but just is not, then STATIC is your next book. It truly is a fresh twist on the words and stories that Christians use. It takes what we have thought the text to mean and helps us find the truth without reading more into the text than that is there. Static will cause you to re-think how you view sharing your faith. It will help you find answers instead of just raising questions that leave you paralyized. Static helps us see that the Churchs need for relevance is not just "being culturally connected" it is about taking the language of the scriptures and connecting them to the human story. Ron Martoia has written a piece that every Christ follower needs to take a good hard look at. Great Job Dr. Ron Martioa.

We received Don't Wake the Baby when my daughter was 2 and we immediately bought Wake Up Sleeping Beauty as well. My daughter still loves these books -- she is now 5 -- and my now 2 year old daughter asks to read them over and over again. The books are so charming, that my husband and I don't mind!

This is a book with tabs on each page which causes the characters to move and accompanying sounds to occur. The storylines are funny, the movements are imaginative, and the sounds are terrific. The only problem is that it's easy for little fingers to tear the tabs and pages with their enthusiasm or, in our case, sheer repetition, even though the pages are heavy stock.

This book is great! I first got one for my daughter when she was about 2 (and a real Daddy's girl!). She loved it so much she'd go to sleep with it! The pull-tabs are pretty easy to move, even for her, but most of the time I have to do it for her and help her resist the temptation of tearing away at the parts that stand out. Well, having been somewhat unsuccessful in doing that, we now have to get a second copy for her little brother! But not until after we wore out the battary in the book first!

What an attention getter!

My baby boy Emre, loved this book since he was 12 months old. Now he is 16 months old and he is still crazy about it. When I take this book out, he gets involved in it for at least half an hour. Nothing else can do that. He imitates the sounds and loves to pull the tabs. Of course the figures got pretty damaged with such pulling and tearing but still it works. And the book is quite good in making the mother role an independent one, and making the father the care taker at home, at least for one night.
I deinitely recommend it.

This book can be read very quickly for the impatient baby, or savored for the older toddler. The pictures are cute, and the main adult in the story is the father. My toddler liked the presence of the dog and cat. She enjoyed the book since she was 8 months old. It is not one of her favorites now at 2 1/2 but we still read it occasionally since it only takes about 2 minutes to get through. The rhythm and rhyme flow well.

This would make a great baby gift!

The illustrations are lovely and provide lots of scope for discussion and I Spy games. This is a terrific book and I would be surprised if your child didn't enjoy it tremendously!

Then I read "Break Through the Noise," a tight, applicable-to-all-industries, tip & technique-packed instruction manual on how to connect with even the most reticent or distracted of Prospects. (And few Prospects are as reticent or distracted as our target customer, the middle-management engineer!).

Read this book, and you'll never engage in "hand-to-hand" Marketing the same way again.

Elisa Southard and her great book: Break Through the Noise helped me to succinctly articulate what it is I do. So many words, so many ideas, so much noise -- she helped me wade through the muck to find not only one pearl, but an entire strand, all the while keeping those I want to reach in mind.

I am a party consultant by trade with several large accounts, and this book has provided some fantastic new activities. It is difficult to think of new games and concepts when you have been in the business for a while, so it helps to have an outsider's ideas. The psychic and seance activities are unbelievably innovative! We have modified some of the activities to tone them down for corporate accounts, but the concepts are still very strong and easily adaptable. Considering my hourly charges, this book was a bargain.

Wild, crazy, FUN!

I got tired of bikini contests, but it's really difficult to constantly think of new and fun things to do with people. So I did some homework and --tadah!-- I found this crazy book! In the past 4 months, I have worked non-stop and have enjoyed quite a success, due in part to inspiration and general kooky behavior described in this book! I now own TWO copies of "Make Some Noise", one which I carry with me to all gigs, and one that I leave at the club, and they're both well loved and dog eared. This book has been a source of ideas for mayhem and merriness for me, and I would like to keep on keeping on! I am anxiously awaiting the sequel... HIGHLY recommend this fun book to anyone in the entertainment business, whether you're a DJ, band, bar manager, or party planner. You won't be disappointed!

I picked up this book a few months ago for some party game ideas to use at my DJ events. I have to tell you I've had things spilled on it, the pages are ratty, the cover is now torn, but I make sure I've always got it with me because I've used this book countless times. Some of these contests are hilarious. I've generated many referral sales and picked up a few nights at a local nightclub as a result of the chaos that the things in this book have caused! Make Some Noise is an invaluable resource for DJs and bars. Also recommend How To Be A DJ by same author - even more awesome marketing tips!

Two thumbs up; three if I had another!

Forget about bikini contests, banana eating contests and all that silly stuff everyone else has been doing the past 10 years. It's no wonder the club business is suffering - it's been incredibly BORING! "Make Some Noise" finally brings some new and sometimes pretty wild contests and promotions to light. I run a mid-sized bar in the Philadelphia suburbs, and this book has been a big part of helping build some really fun nights. We're about to try "Midget Wrestling", and my advance ticket sales have been better than any band I've had here in years. "Barbie Girl" was a total scream! And the local police got involved with "The Sobriety Olympics", which they thought was a great idea to teach people how too much alcohol can impair your judgment. We've even had people go out to their cars, remove their spare tires for a prize! Most of these ideas are sooo out of the box that they're just perfect for this industry. I can't say enough good things about the insight provided by Make Some Noise. Definitely recommended reading for anyone looking for fun stuff to do. Two thumbs up; three if I had another!
