As a man I didn't know what to expect from this book. I've know Gary and Delores for about 19 years. I remember getting the
call from Gary when Delores was diagnosed with breast cancer. I couldn't believe it. I had no idea what she went through.
I consider myself a close friend but she never let on what she had to endure. I would see her during this time and she always
seemed to be herself, laughing and being direct as those of us who know her can attest. I could see her growing closer to
the Lord even more during this time, but she has matured to be a powerful woman of God. As a man reading this book, I couldn't
put it down. I could only imagine if it were my wife, mother or sister. I also realized the power in this book that truly
ministered to me in the trial that I going through right now. I felt her witness. Most people can see it, but I actually felt
it lifting me to go on a little further. I know that this book is about her bout with or should I say her VICTORY over breast
cancer, but to me it served as source of strength and awareness. God Bless Delores and her family and I appreciate the details
in the book because they helped me to see that sometimes it's necessary to bare yourself so that God can get the Glory that
He deserves.

I encourage you to read my wife's new book release entitled "Suspicion of Malignancy". The book details Delores' battle with
breast cancer from the point of diagnosis to healing and recovery. Please consider purchasing a copy for yourself, significant
other, or a friend. Let's support Delores' message by spreading the word that early detection does save lives! Delores is
a living Witness.

This book is phenomenal! I read it cover to cover in one night. Burgess does a wonderful job in explaining her bout with
cancer, she opens up regarding what she went through personally, how her family dealt with it and most of all how her walk
with God lead her through. I most especially appreciated the fact that she gave tremendeous details about her conversations
with God, her love of God her husband's love of God and support of her, unconditionally. The section on frequently asked questions
at the end was especially helpful. This book is a great aid to anyone with cancer or anyone who wants to be a great support
to a friend or family member experiencing the same.

When I first began reading the book I could relate to how Delores felt being a mother myself. After watching my dad die from
Cancer her book gave me a better understanding of how he must have felt and what he was going through during the time of his
illness. Her faith in God is truly untouchable. How she explained each step of her walk through this healing process was
remarkable. Letting people know that is okay to share with those who love you what you are going through is so important.
It is also important how she stressed how she became informed about the illness that was attacking her body and did not just
take the doctor at his/her word. Knowing about your illness is so important, because if you are are unfamiliar about your
illness then you can not make accurate decisions about your recovery. I truly wish her and her family the best and pray that
this book is a blessing to the next person that reads it and helps them through whatever they are going through.

This book is an excellent abbreviated reference for anyone dealing with hematology/oncology (nurses, pharmacists, residents).
It has a very logical format and is updated annually. The prior year version is on-line for free (currently 2001) on cancernetwork.com.
The references for chemotherapy regimens are helpful and the explanations of radiological and surgical procedures are easy
to understand. By all means, it does not replace William's Hematology or DeVita's Oncology references, but is definitely
a great place to start.

I am a patient of Dr. Gersh and am one of the case studies presented in the book. It is now five years + since diagnosis.
My prognosis gave a 10% five year survival rate. I believe my result was helped by the doctor and his methods!

Thirty years ago, I worked at a local Health Food Store for five years. At that time, the owner's wife was diagnosed with
cancer. My boss read everything he could find on natural and nutritional therapies for this condition. After discovering Dr.
Kelley's book, "One Answer To Cancer", he arranged to fly out to meet with Dr. Kelley personally. They had a very inspiring
visit, learned all they needed to know about the natural cancer treatments, enzymes, and diet, and came back home. They were
both in their sixties at that time, and followed Dr. Kelley's dietary and supplement instructions in every detail for the
first year, then went on the "maintenance" program afterwards. Although one of them recently had a slight stroke, and the
other has suffered some age-related hearing & vision loss, they are still mentally alert and in good health today, still living
independently in their own home, and are both approaching their 93rd birthdays this Spring of 2004. If anyone out there is
doubting that Dr. Kelley's program really works, it is not a "racket" or a scam, it is a legitimate treatment option. Just
ask my former employers, Blanche and Glenn!

The book is one-of-a-kind. It has collected the experiences from innumerable mistakes, near-misses and pitfalls in one of
the important branches in diagnostic medicine in one tasteful book.
It is easy to find your way around in. The book is well indexed. The clues to alternative diagnoses are displayed logically, but it takes you some time and thought to really appreciate what the differences are, the reasons for which is obvious: otherwise the entities would not appear in this book!
I think the included look-alikes entities are well chosen. The practitioner will meet the problems often, in my experience at least monthly. Probably we do it even more often, without realising that we should have given more thought to the alternatives. Therefore it will pay to go through the book when you buy it, which you should, to be aware of what sore experiences colleagues before us have made.
SO why not five stars?
The quality is a bit variable between chapters, although none are poor, though! On one occasion identical pictures have been used to illustrate two different conditions. The organisation of the entities within the individual chapters is not always quite "logical". On the other hand - is that possible? Probably not. The intention of the book is above all to warn us against the most common howlers with serious consequences in diagnostic pathology, and help us out. An organ system approach alone might be enough.
So I may go to four stars and a moon!
When you have got it, you will not wish to be without it again. The book deserves to be read to pieces.
And hopefully Drs Al-Sam and Lakhani will repeat their "Course on Pseudomalignancies" again soon. If you are lucky, register early that is, you will get it for free!!!!!!!!!!
But don't bet on that - there are many smart pathologists around that will nick your copy.
Have a good time with this book and become a better and more reflective pathologist.

Too many errors

The plethora of errors (typographical, grammatical, technical) raises the possibility that no serious editing/proofreading
was performed on this edition. In addition, many tables were printed too small to read without the assistance of a magnifying
glass. The technical quality of the karyotypes was surprisingly suboptimal. While I was using this text as a review for
an upcoming board exam, I had the advantage of knowing the identity of pertinent breakpoint identifications and could recognize
incorrect designations. If this book is being used as an introduction to hematological malignancies, much inconsistency and
confusion will ensue. I do not recommend this book.

As a PhD graduate, beginning my Clinical Molecular Genetics fellowship, I highly recommend this new text as a review of the
known cytogenetic and molecular abnormalities, causing hematological malignancies. This is a continuation of the great series
of books from Dr. Gorczyca, who realizes that there is a shift in hematopathology away from plain morphology and special stains
(covered in his Atlas of Differential Diagnosis in Neoplastic Hematopathology) to flow cytometry (as covered in his Flow Cytometry
in Neoplastic Hematology) to this latest book, concentrating on the subcellular level. Such shift will soon be confirmed by
the new WHO classification of hematologic malignancies that will be based more on molecular and cytogenetic abnormalities
and less on morphological findings. This is a great time to purchase and go through this well-illustrated review before the
new classification takes effect (probably early next year.) Beware of the brave new (molecular) world!

religion too. it is no stars out of five, dont waste your money. I want my money back.
