This book is fabulous! I recommend it for anyone interested in becomming an Emergency Rescuer, EMT, or Paramedic. The author does an excellent job of explaining body systems and the impact trauma can have on them. It's in-depth, but not overly technical. It is easy to read and understand. I have learned a lot from this book in a short amount of time. It explains step by step the assessment, diagnosis and difinative care needed for a wide range of injuries, as well as the level of care given depending on your level of training. It was recommended to me by a Paramedic, and I have recommended it to others! You won't be disappointed! BUY THIS BOOK!

Ideal for graduate students in bone health
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

This is the first time I have seen a book dedicated to exercise and bone. Usually bone books are about medication, biology, etc. and then they pay lipservice to exercise. The authors are to be congratulated on providing a very readable, beautifully illustrated and yet authoritative text for those of us doing Master's degrees, Honors degrees, or even PhDs in the field of bone research. I imagine that graduate students all over the US are eternally grateful for having all this information in one place. It really clears up those comples issues such as how to interpret DXA scans, why results of different exercise studies differ and the problems of stress fractures, amenorrhea etc.

It even has research suggestions for a wide variety of students - see the later chapters.

My boyfriend is a fitness leader and he loves it because it provides evidence-based exercise programs for women and men of different ages and abilities.

Well done authors - thanks from the bottom of my heart!

...how much information is powerpacked into this pocket type booklet. It is a grand reminder for the most vital and commonplace ailments, and I wouldnt' miss it for the world. My shelves are bent with Hoffman, Duke, Ody, and the likes, but my travels are accompanied by this little treasure. Chances are if you are in a bind and can't remember, this will save the day. Fit for beginners as well as long time practicing herbalists, and a wonderful gift to open newbies eyes into the grand world of herbal healing. The only problem is to keep it. Don't let it leave your sight, it's one of those which won't come 'home' again. Best by more then one. This book won't cure major illness, but it'll sure patch up the daily scrapes!!

Not only is this a must read for those suffering from PTSD, it's a must read for friends and family who want to understand but really don't. After being diagnosed with PTSD, I was unsure of what that meant, why I was so greatly effected by my traumatic experiences and why I felt so weak at times when I never use to feel that way. Why? As the book explains, it is a "normal reaction to an abnormal situation". And because of that abnormal situation, you get injured just like someone who breaks a leg. The leg heals, but you must guard it and protect it until your strength is restored. And your strength can be restored, given time, work and your desire to heal!

There are accounts of 10 individuals that had their own PTSD story to tell. The book includes a chart of their traumatic experiences, which you can refer to when needed. Following their stories and reading the positive outcomes helps you gain the confidence you need to continue the fight to overcome PTSD. Their stories gave me the feeling of "I am not alone", "Wow! That person suffers the physical ailments of PTSD that I suffer" and "It is possible to recover! Here's proof"!
