This book is a compilation of case studies. It is a technical read for a patient of acupucture going through IVF. There is a ton of valuable information in this book, it's just very hard to get through it if you aren't trained to decifer all the lingo. For a doc, I'm sure it's an easy read!

Butterflies & Magical Wings is an extraordinary and powerful story relating to infertility. The story is so heart warming and beautifully written. The illustrations throughout the book is so very captivating. This book will really touch the heart of parents which have experienced the journey of infertility and chose third party reproduction to create a family. This book will enable parents to share with their children the story of their wonderous creation. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!! Hats off to the author!! Thank you for writing such a beautiful, personal story.

A very nice introduction to a discussion of a delicate issue

The front flap reads, "`Butterflies & Magical Wings' is a tender story about a sweet and beautiful butterfly named Flutter, who, with her butterfly partner, Milo, tries repeatedly but unsuccessfully to become a parent. Flutter befriends Sima, a kind butterfly with sparkling pink spots determined long ago by a wise old butterfly to be magical spots. Sima generously offers one of her sparkling pink spots to Flutter, hoping somehow it would help Flutter and Milo have a baby butterfly. Although never done before Dr Bella, the butterfly doctor, Flutter, Milo, and Sima team up to merge science with miracles in a courageous, determined attempt to pioneer a new road to achieving their quest. Ultimately, the reader, along with Flutter and Milo, is left to wonder whether Sima is, truly a butterfly...or is, in actuality, an angel."

Both a mother's unique tribute to the surrogate who provided half of the DNA needed to create life and a tender explanation to her young and growing child of her exceptionality, `Butterflies...' is unique. Amy Margolis' loving testament must certainly be one of the very few children's-style books that dares to address the complicated involutions both a woman alone and a couple together must navigate before, during, and after the process of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) using donor eggs.

Whew!

`Butterflies...' is optimistic in its undertaking considering the complicated and sensitive subject matter, and does a reasonable job dealing with the subject of IVF using donor eggs. Margolis' tantalizing premise and Natalie Marino's colorful pictures come close to creating a landmark children's book. However, when reading the story to its intended audience, `Butterflies...' lacks the rhythm, structure, and language to make a meaningful impression. At times, it is unclear whether the story is intended more for the adults who were the principles in the IVF with donor egg decision-making process or the special little humans who are the products of the efforts. While the metaphors of the butterflies, Flutter's desire to create life, and Sima's donation of one of her sparkling, pink, magical spots has the potential to become an engaging children's story, the introduction of Dr. Bella abruptly personifies the tale and `Butterflies...' never returns to its dreamy unreality. Marino's illustrations have a "What Dreams May Come" (a reference to the 1998 motion picture starring Robin Williams, Annabella Sciorra, and Cuba Gooding, Jr.) feel to them. The pictures tend toward fine art, which does not neatly fit with the children's book theme and the butterfly characters are also frustratingly humanized. The book design and the curious illustrative approach mesh poorly and are suggestive of vanity publication.

In all, the book just does not seem to click as much as it could. Still, `Butterflies...' could be a very nice introduction to a discussion of a delicate issue within the context of loving parents to their special child, and there are not many other vehicles like `Butterflies...' to make that breach.

Reproductive technology fails for 80% of the people who try it, but all you ever read in the press (which relies on the advertising dollars of pharmeceutical companies)are the success stories. Very important reading for anyone considering fertility treatment.

This book is great at laying out and discussing a variety of issues related to infertility, the complex technologies used to treat it, and the emotions that arise from these things. However, I was continually frustrated while reading this book because I felt that the author did not analyze very well the things she said. She would point out interesting comments made by couples seeking fertility treatment, but then give the same anaytical comments over and over again about the different couples' feelings. Also, I felt she was too biased and critical in her assessment of fertility treatment. It seemed like every couple (indeed, virtually everyone in the book was a married couple, very little representation from anyone else) felt the same way, ultimately -- disillusioned, doubtful about themselves, cynical about the process, and overall disappointed, even angry and bitter. This has not been my own personal experience, and I have a hard time believing that everyone in her large study sample was so dismal. It just wasn't a sophisticated, layered analysis. But it will probably be interesting to non-academics who would like to get a foundation for some of the negatives associated with infertility treatments, and with having problems with infertility.

This simple title hides a complex book that you must read if you are suffering from ED. The things described here are not to be found anywhere else and the information is amazing and accurate. It doesn't matter what you wanted to know about erectile dysfunctions this book will provide the answer. A great book, but bellow the level of the greatest book you'll ever read "Volume II - Natural Penis Enlargement: New methods of avoiding and curing impotence, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction safely and inexpensively. ... An excellent resource on the subject. Even the lay person will be able to get something out of this text. I advise patients suffering from this disorder, such as Dave Kennedy, should read at least the first few chapters.

Many people try to cure impotence by different methods which might resemble the torturing methods from the Middle Ages so don't put your health at risk with methods from friends or other strange methods. Curing impotence is a very important issue, but people should know that there are some natural risk free methods that won't have any secondary effects. These methods are described in the book "Natural Penis Enlargement: New methods of avoiding and curing impotence, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction safely and inexpensively. NEW Secrets that your doctor won't tell you, No Pumps, No Pills and No Gadgets!" by Platinum Millennium and I recommend it for every guy out there who desperately tries to solve his problem.

In an upscale suburb of Sydney, Australia, Anna and Mac seem to have it all as they are the perfect married couple obviously in love with one another while also succeeding in at their respective work. . However, being DINKs (double income no kids) has bothered both, but especially Anna. She has become obsessed with having a child, but seven years of infertility has left her depressed and turning to alcohol for comfort; he turns to other comforts and longer hours at the office to avoid her.

In another nearby suburb, bookstore owner Georgie moans her lack of a love life. She wants a relationship in the worst way. When she meets Liam at her bookstore, she thinks she found Mr. Right. However, she soon believes he is not even close to being ALMOST PERFECT.

The key cast members including others besides those above make for a warm contemporary Australian drama. The story line is driven by the needs and desires of the two women, whose actions inadvertently damage their relationships with the respective men in their lives. Though everything ties up too neatly in spite of so much angst, ALMOST PERFECT is a strong character study.
