Review Date: 2007-10-06

Simply a must have for all parents. Wolfgang Rietig reveals in a short and precise style all secrets parents try to find out when they fist hear about that mysterious "sudden infant death". What is it? What is the reason for it? Can it also happen to my beloved child? - And most important: What can I do to prevent it?

There are many books who claim to present the causes: Smoking, the positon the child sleeps at night etc. But it is more: It is the way how you as a parent lead your healthy or unhealthy life. It is a more generall approach taking into account all facts that lay behind the obvious.

The author gives you a great insight into how few was known before he finally reveals the mysterious about that topic as a result of his decade long research on the topic.

He describes what different factors lead to Sudden Infant Death, when a child is in danger and what you can do to save your children's life. He focusses on taking all factors of life into account. Even if you do not have a child, it is a must have if you are interrested in knowing how to lead a more healthy and therefore happy life.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST!

I wish I'd had a book like this when my boys were growing up! Common good sense backed up by sound medical advice and creative ideas make for a winning combination. I give this new book as well as THE PINK AND BLUE BABY PAGES to all my young friends who are parents for the first time as well as older friends who are grandparents. Everyone loves both the books. I wish Zinberg and Waldstein would write THE PINK AND BLUE PAGES FOR GRANDPARENTS! What a winner that would be. Bravo

Touching and true to life portrait of a sibling relationship

A sweetly illustrated tale of a boy who wishes to escape from his omnipresent little brother, or so he thinks. This book reminded me of my son and daughter, who do have occasional conflicts, but who are for each other their favorite companions.

Appealing especially to former teachers!!!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2001-08-02
Recently, I resigned from my teaching position to focus on raising my baby full-time. Each activity is a normal every day activity most everyone does with or encounters with their babies: using a rattle, nursing, walking, crawling, etc. No special equipment required.

Becky Daniel has set this "manual" up in easy to use "lesson plans" with the objective, set-up, process, assessment (how did you and your baby do?) and an "encore" to advance the technique, if you like. This is such an easy book that explains why and how certain types of play are essential to baby's development. Why not know why play works, rather than poo-pooing it as though we're just "playing" ??? Enjoy this book thoroughly, I am!

Great for Grandparents and Babysitters!

I love the organization of this book and how it's divided by developmental age and also by senses (taste, touch) and motor development. The ideas are easy, which is the point. Not only is it great for new parents but is terrific for grandparents or babysitters, who might wonder what there is to do with an infant beyond basic care. I like the baby karaoke and flashlight fun ideas. It's worth the money!

I have been educating women and their partners for over 25 years on the essentials of baby care, breastfeeding and childbirth and found this book to be very user-friendly. Jamie Loehr's easy, conversational style makes this book almost as good as a visit in his office. I recommend it to all of my clients.

I purchased this book for my 12 year old granddaughter and she loved it. It has helped her a lot, not only babysitting outside her family, but also dealing with her younger brothers. I would suggest this book for all children that are interested in babysitting to earn extra money and to be come a very good and concience sitter.
