Infants Books

This book was a gift for me when I was pregnant with my first child who is now eight years old. I've used many of the remedies in the past and continue to use them now. I prefer herbal remedies to the over the counter medicinal treatments, so I was delighted when I received this book. I now have other family members with infants and toddlers who call me for remedies. I refuse to part with my book, but wish to buy the book as a gift for others. This book is easy to follow.

This book is a great companion to pregnancy and even has suggestions for improving fertility. I used this and her other book, Easing Labor Pain, to prepare a herbal/homeopathic/aromatherapy kit for labor and delivery. I highly recommend this and her other book. They are both very thorough and non-judgemental in tone, so that you can use alternative therapies as a complement to western medicine without feeling like you have to make a choice between the two.
I reviewed some of her suggestions with my Nurse Midwife, she was familiar with them, and gave me the okay to use them during labor and delivery.

This was one of my texts during NNP school, and I continue to consult it often. The layout and content make information easy to find and utilize. The first chapter is a great review of neonatal pharmacology coursework, to help prepare for board exams. An extra bonus is/are the CEUs available in the back of the book, 30 CEUs for only $75 (with taking a test and sending in the paperwork.) This single text can provide 2/3rds of my certification maintenance CEUs, plus taking the test improved my familiarity with the information. I am much more confident in prescribing and in creating medication- related policies and procedures. Obviously, I'm a big fan and cannot wait until the next edition is available.

I would recommend this book to all pediatricians, neonatologists, and Respiratory therapists. It covers the basics of respiratory physiology and touches on the pathophysiology and essentials of management of most neonatal respiratory conditions. I wish that this went into a little more detail, but this is a niggling criticism

Tronick's research from the empirical studies of infant neurobehavior, cross-cultural parenting styles, mother-infant interaction to the still-face studies have shaped a generation of reserach on infancy. In this wonderful compendium he brings it all together with his integrative models of mutual regulation and meaning making and now his dynamic systems perspective on the expansion of dyadic states of consciousness. The book is revealing, almost page by page of new ideas and insights, and is filled with implications for new research and reconceputalizing psychotherapeutic process. It is no less than a tour de force.

I may, undoubtedly, be a little biased since I have learnt Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Neuromuscular disease from Dr De Vivo and now practice side by side with him, but I consider this book irreplaceable. This comprehensive treaty contains unrivalled clinical descriptions, like one finds in M. Brooke's A Clinician's View of Neuromuscular Disease (out of print for quite some time now), and up-to-date molecular genetic discussions on pathogenesis and diagnosis. The book contains abundant beautiful color illustrations and numerous clinical cases, ranging from common to rare. In simple terms, there is not much else to say about this work because it is very well written by the best experts around the world and there is no other publication like it -past or current- in terms of usefulness, depth and elegance of production. References to internet-based databases allow one to pay attention to the latest DNA information.

My husband and I received this book from friends right after the birth of our first child. Each page has just a short bit of wisdom about being new parents and a whimsical illustration to accompany each piece of advice. It is especially good for sleep-deprived people who really don't have time to read. It was a fun and special gift.

Everyone knows that human breast milk is best for growing babies. It contains over 100 "ingredients" that can't be replicated in a lab. This book shares with the conscientious nursing mom information about foods to enhance your breast milk's nutritional value and ways to reduce toxins by avoiding non-stick cookware and certain plastics. It has sound research-based information and great recipes.

The Middle of the Night book is the most comprehensive guide to parenting that I have found. It is a valuable tool, not just for young parents, but for new parents of any age. The information is so practical and easy to read... I have given this book to every friend that I have who I hear is expecting.
