This book written by Dia L. Michels can serve a parent in a variety of ways. It is an excellent readaloud for a younger nonreading
child who can engage in a guessing game based upon picture clues. The book can also serve as a beginning reader for the emerging
reader in your family. There are no more than 2 sentences on a page with a limited vocabulary and picture clues that will
help the reader to understand the contents. The book tells a story of a family trip around the neighborhood from the baby's
point of view. Colorful photographs enhance the text and make the book pleasing to view. A good addition to any family library.

Look What I See! Where Can I Be? Visiting China is a delightful picture book by Dia L. Michels showcases the grand culture
and sights of China from a baby's point of view. A close-up cut-out of a scene, followed by a more expansive photograph by
Michael J. N. Bowles of the full scene (such as a close up of "animal parade" roof decorations and the question "Where was
I?", followed by the full photograph of a happy family visiting the Forbidden City) mark each page turn of this enjoyable
and colorful book meant to be shared with the very young.

I lost my baby at nine weeks and everything that Bernadette went through were all the emotions I felt. I felt like I wasn't
alone. They have a nice chapter for the men as well written by Phil Keaggy, which is an added plus. We don't hear too much
about the men who have to deal with a miscarriage, so it was nice to see. The book was very touching and it really leaves
you with a sense of hope in the end.

expresses the reality of fate and strength of love together

I thought this book was astounding! In it, a mother expressed from her perspective what it was like to have a premature
baby. Through the eyes of the family, the reader feels everything they go through and learns to cope with the heartache
and triumphs presented. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest at seeing life from different perspectives.
Not only does the novel offer insight into the technology available to premature infants who stay in the NICU, it makes
the reader aware of the social dilema faced by today's neonatologists. Who should live and who should die? In whole, this
book brings together the reality of fate and the strength of love

This is a charming book with lively illustrations. Actually, I also
own the "How to be a bride..." by the same illustrator! She
is imaginative and has great use of color!

A father's trip to a ballgame. Humor is attempted through misunderstandings of typical baseball culture. A line from the
Star Spangled Banner becomes "land of the fleas, home of the brains." The youngest children go in search of a playground
after hearing "batter swings." Contains excellent color illustrations and will be of interest to the K through 3rd grade
levels.

Impression of Bowlby's ideas

Attachment is a subject I'm very much interested in. I already ordered two parts of Bowlby's trilogy 'Attachment and Loss',
but this title, 'The making and breaking of affectional bonds', was a very captive introduction to his theory. Like many books,
I read it with a pencil close by in order to be able to highlight what struck me as important and useful for future situations
(writing a story, making a powerpoint). Well... I used the pencil a lot! The way Bowlby explains how bonding processes works
and the fact that most of this theory still has the value it had when it was written with today's authors building upon it,
is very impressive. I look forward to reading the trilogy and get an even more comprehensive understanding of what attachment
is all about and how big the impact is when the process doesn't get off to a good start or is disturbed somewhere along the
line. When we better understand in what ways symptoms may show underlying problems, we will all be able to better support
loved ones and make up for what was lost.

I am an alum of Emma willard (2000) and I think this book is important for anyone (esp. with a daughter or sister) to read.
Ms. Hamner was the associate head of school while I was there and is an incredibly intelligent, not to mention friendly, woman.
Her work on this subject helped make Emma Willard a great place to be a growing adolescent/woman and I think this book is
valuable to anyone interested in gender studies and such.

a hint or two. It's great for showing them they are not alone in their confusion about babies.
