Excellent source for week-by-week information for a new mother. I read this book during my pregnancy and found it to be the most informative book as to what happens to mother and child during those 9 months.

A major source of childhood obesity comes from a child mimicking their parents. "Fit Family: The Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Years" is a different answer to the problem of childhood obesity. Fit parents produce fit children, a child who sees his parents exercise is very much likely to do the same himself. With many fun physical family activities outlined within, ranging from hikes and rides on travels to yoga, it understands the limitations that families may face in cooperation. An approach that is very sound, "Fit Family" is a must for any parents who want to keep their family happy and healthy.

a GREAT little book that will make your heart smile

I got this book when my daughter was just a week old and fell in love with it. I read it during those late night feedings and found myself smiling, when little would make me smile! (after the first 5 days of zero sleep) The book is not full of advice, just things that are funny and relate only to the first month or two after childbirth. It's written in short little segments that are perfect for short reading spurts. If you liked the segment on Oprah on "real motherhood," then you will like this book. If you have never had a bad day as a Mom, your baby doesn't cry, your breasts never hurt, you got plenty of sleep and your world is perfect - then you won't like this book.

I now buy this book for all of my girlfriends who have babies and everyone always says "That book was perfect." It's full of all the things that no one tells you, but yet you shouldn't read it until after the baby arrives...otherwise you might not go through it!

A fantastic, funny and candid book about motherhood

My brother had shared the great news with me that his wife was pregnant. Knowing that my sister-in-law was an avid reader I searched for something special and found The Fourth Trimester - the perfect book for new moms. My sister-in-law read it in one sitting, laughing and sometimes cringing at the ordeals mothers face. My wife and I read it too, thoroughly enjoying it and getting a honest and entertaining glimpse into the world of raising children - one we'll be facing in the next couple of years.

Great book! As a new mom, I could really relate! I gave it to my friend to read before her baby was born and it scared her to death! I also enjoyed "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy, or Everything Your Doctor Won't Tell You." Both these books were more informative than any doctor or midwife.

It felt like my best friend was sitting with me at 3:00AM

One night at 3:00AM I was sitting with my new baby who was WIDE awake. I took a look at the bookcase, and pulled out this book which I had received as a gift. It was funny, reasurring and made me feel like I wasn't alone. The first few weeks are very tough on a new mom, and this book articulated it truthfully, with humor, and without the guilt.
I will make sure all my friends have it just in case they need to open it up in the middle of the night too!

i received this book as a gift while in the hospital after the c-section birth of my son. my husband and i both read it, and agreed: what [junk]!

apparently new motherhood was the closest that this pc liberal feminist from new york ever got to the real world, and it scared her so badly that she had to write a book reassuring other new moms (or reassuring herself?) that they would hate it, too.

i gather from her writing (and from the fact that he is the *very* last person to be thanked) that her husband was not much help after the birth of her daughter. is that why there is almost a total lack of masculine pronouns in this book? is she ticked off at all men for her husband's lacking?

yeah the pictures are old, but the description are exactly what everyones baby goes through, and it reminds us of our son's first year of life, the stuff we didn't write down, and then forgot in a haze of sleep deprivation - the pictures are from the 70's-80's, true, but thats really ok, looks like my clothes from when I was a child!

I read Gorge Speaks for a school project. I thought that this book was a very fun book to read! I liked this book because it was funny, it really got your attention and I just thought it had a good ending. I think a lot of people would read this book if they had a chance to and the time. I think mostly that a lot of kids would read it. Probably ages 4-9I really like this book and I highly recommend it and I hope you like it!

In very clear language the Gift of Baptism helps parents and thoses who are working with parents who are preparing to have their child baptized, this easy to read book helps parents understand the importance of and the meaning behind the Sacrement of Baptism.

Folowing a user friendly format the reader is introduced to the key theological concepts of baptism, walking the reader through the history of the sacrement offering practical helps for parents and Godparents as they approach this important stage of their child's life.

I recomend this book as a must for all thoses who take my baptism and Godparent classes, or for anyone who wants to understand thier faith a little more.

I have been trying to find a diet to help me gain weight and prepare my body for pregnancy. I would even reccommend it to those merely just trying to eat healthy. It has so much helpful information concerning proper nutrients, calories and appropriate food items to eat. Near the end there are menus to help you through preparing for pregnancy and throughout your pregnancy. There is nothing for me to figure out, calculate or guess. It is all laid out. The hardest thing to do after reading this EXCELLENT book is shoppng for the food and then actually making it. It really could not be easier!!
