Infants Books

This is an excellent book thanks to renowned infant and toddler expert Janet Gonzalez-Mena. As always, she balances the practical information about caregiving with critical reflection on the research and a despensing of myths and urban legends about taking care of babies and Twos.

Wonderful.

Module Two of the WestEd Program for Infant and Toddler Caregivers (PITC) is much more pratical than Module I, and this slim book shows why.

Not only does it possess only a few excellent floor layouts but also it spends a considerable time detailing how each part of the classroom is SPECIFICALLY geared to infants and toddlers, NOT in a water-downed preschool format.

The citations and research is excellent.

I sent this book to my granddaughter to share with her three little girls. Recently, her seven-year-old was asked by a neighbor to be a mother's helper for her two toddlers. My great-granddaughter immediately reached for the Gymboree book as something she would use to entertain her little charges.

Play & Learn concentrates on key areas of development through age appropriate activities which enhance motor skills, problem solving, coordination, language skills and encourage individual creativity and imagination. 1001 activities for children from birth to age five provides ideas for parents to connect with their children at every stage, helps build a strong sense of self and fosters a positive attitude towards learning.

The first thing I noticed was the sturdy cover, the colorful tab-style layout, with the age clearly marked on the center tab, which makes finding the exact section you're looking for a breeze. The book is filled with gorgeous pictures of children at every stage, brilliant art work and lots and lots of color. At the beginning of each age change (0+, 3mo+, 6mo+, etc.) the authors have written an introduction page that includes a set of four milestones, displayed in color-coded boxes, giving parents a heads-up on what to expect as your little one reaches important and life-changing milestones.

Some of the activities include, recording your child's favorite book on tape, making and decorating gingerbread cookies to enjoy while reading the story, playing footsie and the time tested trick to stop restaurant melt-downs, Mr. Fork and Ms. Spoon. The book is jam-packed with simple but ingenious ideas that help parents amuse and entertain even the fussiest child. With no preparation needed, using everyday household items, or sometimes just the sound of your own voice, these activities will enrich your relationship with your children and provide years of priceless memories.

This is an excellent tool for parents and caregivers, that I highly recommend. Loaded with fun activities that make life a little bit easier for tired parents and lots of fun for curious, energetic little ones.

This book was a great find. As an educator and mother of special needs children this book is a valuable resource. I would recommend this to any professional or parent that deals with children with any mental health issue.

I'm always buying books for my nephew, but I got this one for myself. It's full of ideas that have helped me be a great babysitter. Some of the ideas are common sense, but there are plenty of things here I would never have thought to do. My nephew even had fun with the book itself--he liked the pictures of the babies. Then again, he likes eating books now more than looking at them!

My daughter loved this book!

When Danny leaves his friend Sue's birthday party, he doesn't stop celebrating. "Happy to you," he says to everyone and everything he sees. This joyful book, with exquisite illustrations, really expresses what "toddlerhood" is all about.

This collection of poems saved my sanity when I was pregnant by showing me that the emotional roller coaster I was on was perfectly normal. Ms. Schutz eloquently expresses the sadness, fears, and doubts and joyfully expresses the beauty, awe, and love women feel when they are pregnant. I cried my way through every page and felt 100 percent better after reading it.

I buy it for all of my pregnant friends when they are in their fourth or fifth month, because at that point they have experienced many of the emotions portrayed in the poems.

The poems are thoughtfully placed in order from the prenatal months through the birth of the baby, which makes it easy to read and relate to.

This collection truly expresses the "beautiful miracle of love and life."

This is an excellent resource! A great blend of information weaved into a wonderful massage for babies. This book is well written, easy to understand, thought provoking and educational. The words are well spoken and the pictures speak volumes. If you work with or spend time with babies, this is a must read.
