My baby's doctor gave this book to her at one of her appointments, and she has loved it since she was only a few months old.
(She is one now, and she still loves this book.) I love that there are photographs of real babies, and it is a fun way to
prepare little ones for siblings too. Each page shows something different that babies need.

job with the photos. It is a must"give" gift for any new parent.

This has to be my 9 month old daughter's favorite book. She especially loves the illustrations. We love to read it to her
at bedtime. It is a sweet story about how precious children are and how we should enjoy being parents. I can't wait to get
more books by this same author.

In Babies For Beginners, author David Brizer starts at the literal beginning of conception and then takes the reader on an
hilarious but accurate, step-by-step process in how baby develops within the mother, her labor, childbirth, and development
through infancy. Brizer covers child-rearing basics, genetic, environmental , social and psychological influences, toddlerhood,
and more. The fun and informative texts is profusely illustrated on every page by the cartoon artistry of Ricardo Castaneda.
Babies For Beginners is the most reader-friendly "birds and bees" book on where babies come from (and what to do with them
once they get here) ever written.

Children's Librarians: You Need to Do Baby Laptimes & this book will help!

I am an adult Reference Librarian, but as a former Children's Librarian, I was recently assigned to work part of the time
in the Children's Department. I have conducted gads and gads of preschool storytimes, toddler times, and programs for school
age children over a period of 19 years. But after the summer program ended, we began to see a need in our area for a Baby
Lapsit program. We'd had on surge of new parents looking for things to do with Baby, and some of them trying to pass their
3- month-olds as Toddlers and attending programs for a different preschool age group.
Not having taken the plunge into programming for infants and their caregivers before, I felt the need for research. I read everything I could about this type of programming in books and on the Internet, but even working in a library, I didn't have easy access to the title BABIES IN THE LIBRARY by Jane Marino that I ran across online. So I bought the book from Amazon, and I am so thankful I did! It really jump-started my program. I have led 6 weeks of Baby Laptimes as of the time of this writing, and the book has more than paid for itself in the rewards I get from working with cooing, smiling babies and happy mommies every week.
The book tells how to get started, and it even has some sample programs, along with rhymes that are age-appropriate. I took a lot of the ideas, combined them with my own style and personality and ideas, and it has resulted in a program that is earning rave reviews! After we got started we had to stop publicizing it, because word of mouth was enough to spread the word like wildfire, and we wanted to try to keep the group smaller than the average storytime audience for the benefit of those attending.
I wish I'd started doing Laptimes a long time ago! Of course, this book wouldn't have been published yet, so maybe it was perfect timing. Lapsits are a great service to our library patrons, and make my job even more fun than it already was. I used other books that I found in my library system, but this book was the most helpful, and it now has a place of honor as a reference on my shelf by my desk.

I inherited this book from a relative whose kids had grown past it and it instantly became a favorite of my eldest. My second
child liked it so much that he wore it out, and I recently hunted down another copy to share with my third child, and yet
another to share with a friend. This simple story's pacing is excellent, reflecting the slow-paced life of a newborn, and
is just right for ages 9 mo.- 2 1/2 yrs. The illustrations are charming. I found a plus that the baby appears African-American,
and she is fed both by a bottle and by nursing. The pictures of breastfeeding are EXTREMELY modest, with the mommy all covered
up and the baby looking quite happy. I think this book might be out of print, but I'd recommend you hunt down a copy (or 2)
and snatch it up!

This continues the story of the Lett Brothers, Henry and Geoffrey and their London restaurant "Letts" as told by Will Goodrich, who rose to restaurant manager and was the confidante to Henry. He is telling the story to Edwin Lett, Geoffrey's son.
It is such a good story, Butterfly Summers starts with Henry's death and after his funeral Will goes off to a local pub to try and talk Edwin into keeping the restaurant open and he starts to tell him the story of Mary - who was to love Geoffrey, Henry and Will at different times.
The story starts in 1925 and finishes in 1939. It is a good story with some secrets. I look forward to moving onto Winter Wine the third book in this series.
