I was given this book as a gift when my daughter was born. It is absolutely my favorite for little ones. I love books, we have hundreds, but this is the first one I reach for when I read a story to one of my kids when they are very young. Super sweet, adorable book. I love it and have almost memorized it.

As a music teacher, I have used materials by John Feirabend for years with my early elementary schoolers for pitch and movement exploration. I love that he is an expert on early childhood music. I also recommend the DVD/CD combination "Move It!" by John Feirabend and Peggy Lyman, for about ages 4 and up. There are 20 classical music pieces, and they move to them -- that's it! Some of the pieces are simple, and some are more complex (for older kids or the whole family). The DVD gets you started, and if you have them memorized, you can do them with the cd. Or just keep the kids entertained in the car by putting in the cd and having them do some that just have arm motions.

Simply Wonderful

Music for Very Little People is what every parent wants for their young children. Activities that are fun, easy, and teach without pain. Today's music for infants/toddlers is too cluttered which makes it hard for them to learn. Mr. Feierabend resists the trend towards glitz and gives you simple, enjoyable songs for you and your children. The cassette tape will help anyone learn the songs. My son loved these right from the start and still does. Really well done.

An important book that is a great read!

Even though I have not directly experienced adoption in my own life, I responded immediately to the depth of emotion in this book. On one level, it is a moving prose poem that tells a personal story about how a woman never really "gets over" the loss of a child through adoption. Along the way, it gives the reader an understanding of the social and public policy issues surrounding closed adoption. I kept thinking about the points raised long after I had finished it. This is a great read --- it pulls you in from the first page and leaves you feeling wiser. when you're done

Finally - A voice for a topic about which too little is said

Very fast read. Excellently written. Dr. Reyman weaves her personal story with little known but important facts about the painful long term affects of surrendering a child, at birth, to closed adoption. A must for any therapist or counselor who works with women or families touched by adoption, or surrender. I also recommend it for Ghost Mothers and Ghost Children who might be thinking about starting the search for the other. I now think about adoption and surrender with a different and more enlightened eye. Read it. It's well worth the [price]!

I used Beth's book when I take care of sick children. These children usually are home from day care because they are not feeling well. I use Beth's book as a guide for me and their parents as to the time I've given them medicine and lets the parents know how their children felt during the day. Thank you Beth, for making my job easier.

I love the book and it is easy to read!

Great baby book

Organized very well, includes all information you would want in a baby book. There is plenty of space to write what you want without it being so vague that you don't know what to write. Excellent! I loved it so much when I received it as a gift for my first daughter that I bought it for my second.

A Great Gift- I Love This Book!

I received this book as a gift for my baby, and now I give it as a baby gift to my friends and family. The format makes it easy to journal all the special moments that you want to never forget,a place to write all those wonderful thoughts that run through your mind, and to note all the exciting developements that they make in that first year, from the first bath and outing, to the first holiday and haircut- this book has a place for it all, and a place for all those pictures, too! It is kind of a "fill-in-the-blank" type journaling, to help get the memory going about the things you want to remember and the ones you might have forgotten. It starts before the baby was born, with how the parents met, married, the pregnancy, and day of birth through the first year. Including some pages for an adopted child. Examples of the fill in the blank would be something like, labor started on....at the time mom was...labor and delivery lasted....when mom and dad first saw me they...
I Loved this book, It was perfect for me, I highly recommend it!

Excellent book for newborns and up! I HIGHLY recommend it!

This has been our son's favorite book since he was 1 week old. I don't know why babies are so fascinated with other babies' faces, but this book certainly provides enough photos to keep him busy studying it--even when he was a newborn! Our son has always focused on it, looking at all the pictures of babies, their faces and body parts. He enjoyed it when he was a newborn, and it was the first book he recognized. Now he always giggles and laughs in anticipation when we pick it up. Yes, it is a great teaching tool, but an even better entertainer! What a wonderful time we have as a family reading it together

Great book for teaching children simple body parts!

I was unable to find another book quite like this one. It has pictures of real babies and close ups of eyes, nose, hand, ears, etc. Whatever pages you have opened, there are atleast 4 pictures on the same "part" (different babies and perspectives). It has been an excellent tool for teaching my 12 month old the names of his features

HATS OFF TO AVERY FOR HONEST ANATOMY!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2006-04-25
I would recommend this book for a remarkably simple reason: it is the only US medical text I know of that has the timetable for the desquamation of the male infant and childhood membrane, the balano-preputial lamina, even vaguely correct. It suggests, quite correctly, that this synechia can persist into late puberty. All other US medical books suggest that this membrane should be gone by age 5 or so, which is patently dishonest and based on Douglas Gairdner's error af anatomy of 1949 found in the BMJ.

This little bit of convenient dishonesty has meant injury to millions of US boys for over 50 years.

Hats off to Avery's for getting this important detail correct!!

Hope and Faith

This book was a blessing for our family. The poetry and prose helped us to get through a very distressing time. The authors: Lisanne D'Andrea-Winslow and her sister, Diane Bifano convey a spiritual relationship that contains a universal theme. I encourage anyone who is going through a loss to read the words of faith and hope shared by their family.

Lisanne D'Andrea- Winslow captures the nuances of the strong bond between mother and child, and her sense of futility and anger as she saw her infant slowly fade. She recounts the disbelief, the stages of letting go, the constant pull of flights of fancy, the ache, the pain, and the inevitable death. The book is a lyrical, honest and evocative account of an experience that one should never have to go through. Winslow did, and she survived to give a report from a side of life we often cast a blind eye towards.

Congratulations to Leo Landry on his first book.
He captures the essence of babies in his own unique way.
And thanks to Amazon for having this book in stock, we have found it difficult to find in local bookstores, always sold out.
Looking forward to the Snow Ghosts. I highly recommend this book to all of those who have children

This is a very sweet little book. I bought this as a gift for a friend who is a new parent. Each turn of the page features a new section/category, with titles like "Nature Baby", "Fairy Tale Babies" and "Baby Bedtime", illustrated with lots of babies in a variety of fanciful situations. I like the simple, whimsical drawings and the colorful palette. And the tiny, detailed pictures that form the borders of each page (and which change, specific to each "category") are a wonderful finishing touch. It's a very inviting and fun book to read with a small child.
