Not only do I get the pleasure of sharing this artistically creative book with my little girl, who shares a special bond with it because we read it togrther; also I throughly enjoy it myself. The illustrations are outstanding, and the text is fun, to the point, creative, and you never tire of it. My little girl is 4 years old and we will probably enjoy this book for many years. If you have a child whom you want to share the word of God with, this book is a must.

This book is full of great tips, I really enjoyed reading it. If you are pregnant, don't wait to have your baby, before buying this book, there are a bunch of tips about pregnancy in it.

This is the perfect book for someone who is interested in caring for they their child in the most natural ways possible. It contains clear and easy to understand explanations on herbs, essential oils, and aromatherapy. It also is full of great recipes and advice to help you get started. This book is full of great resources, too. It's a must for people interested in this subject but unsure as to where to begin.

I got this for our granddaughter who is almost 3yrs of age and will become a big sister this summer. She was a preemie herself and spent a month in the NICU. She likes learning about her early days and has really enjoyed this book. I also think it will be really helpful for her to have read it so many times if this new baby happens to arrive early also.

My daughter, 5 yrs. old, loves this story. She was born at 32 weeks, and she loves reading about the NICU experience, and knowing and understanding how things happened after her birth. At least 2 years after we purchased this book, her sister was also born early at 31/32 weeks. Being one of her favorite stories for so long, she was also well prepaired for the early arrival of her sister. This is a must have storybook for once-upon-a-time preemies, as well as those with preemie siblings. I was so happy to discover it, as there are very few children's stories about prematurity!

From the publisher of the "How to Survive" series, this cool little book covers pretty much everything you'll encounter in the first year of parenthood. Because it uses real quotes and tips from real parents, sometimes the advice directly conflicts, even in back-to-back paragraphs--but that's how it works in the real world, too, when your friends and family all give you wildly varying advice for any given problem (what you realize eventually is that however you decide to address that particular issue, there are lots of parents out there who made the same decision). So this book works as a basic resource for finding lots of options and possibilities. Well-edited and always interesting. I definitely recommend this book as an accessible, entertaining resource for new parents.

Oh, Baby is a great resource book for parents needing advice on their newborn's first year. It contains tips from experienced parents about birth delivery, coming home and handling daily challenges with a new baby in the home. It's all about taking care of the newborn's needs as well as the parents. The many suggestions that this book provides will help any parent who is concerned about surviving the challenges of parenthood.

The opinions and experiences represented here will be useful to new parents. You'll find plenty of advice - ranging from the true confessions of moms who had a really difficult first year at home with their babies, to the excellent diaper rash suggestions. As a psychotherapist who often works with new parents I appreciate this book's approach because it rightfully normalizes much that is often kept hush-hush. Give this as a new-baby gift; I know I will.

Our Baby's Album: The First Five Years (Organizer Series)
I live in Australia and bought it for my twins locally in 2006 as it was such a fantastic comprehensive history of the the first 5 years of a child's life. It has so many great sections on everything and I am sure every child will look forward to knowing so much about their early life- what their first food was, what names mum and dad picked out for them, who came to their birthday parties and what presents did they get etc. STACKS of pages dedicated for photos, especially when they were born and every month leading up to their first year.
So I have bought it in 2008 through Amazon for our third baby so they all have matching albums and because nothing else compares to this album. Had it shipped over to Australia I love it that much!

This is really a bible for a Pediatric Neurologist as me. Almost all aspects in the field of pediatric neurology are broaldy and deeply discussed, especially adding many important new chapters in this new edition, such as Tourette syndrome and ketogenic diet. All the material is well updated. There are many small errors which perhaps may be misinterpretated by beginners. However, it won't shake its role as a bible. Of course, non-neurologist pediatricians, non-pediatrician neurologists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, and all neuroscientists concerning children or developing nervous system will feel satisfactory on referring this great book.

This book is the replacement for "Prayers for New Mothers" by Angela Thomas Guffey which is now out of print. "Prayers for Mothers of Newborns" was published after Angela Thomas divorced and it's the same book except that all prayers mentioning her former husband have been removed or amended. Personally, I like the former version better, but I've given both versions as gifts to my friends.
The book has wonderfully sweet prayers that follow your experience with your newborn through the first few months, beginning with the day you bring your baby home from the hospital. Great to direct your tired and weary spirit to the Giver of all good gifts just a few minutes at a time. Each prayer ends with a verse to think upon also.

Angela Thomas, mother of four, knows firsthand the joys and challenges of a new baby in the house, and through her PRAYERS FOR MOTHERS OF NEWBORNS (previously published as PRAYERS FOR NEW MOTHERS) she becomes a trusted companion for the rollercoaster ride of becoming a new mom.
The first-person narrative prayers are organized into five sections: "The First Days," "Joyfulness, Tears, and Rest," "Fears and Anticipations," "All to Jesus (I Surrender)," and "Blessings," generally following a new mom through the first months of parenthood. Ten to twenty different short devotional prayers appropriate to the section follow, plus a scripture verse for each reading. Baby showers, breast-feeding challenges, sleep-deprivation, the chaos of undone housework, holidays, the baby's first smile, unshed pregnancy pounds, teething --- all are taken to God in prayer.
There are prayers of awe and amazement, as when Thomas gazes at her newborn daughter and exclaims to God, "Although I tried, I could not imagine the magnificent work You were doing in the secret place of my womb ... I feel keenly aware that my life will never be the same ... How did I ever live without her?"
She prays out of concern when her newborn becomes jaundiced, and a home healthcare nurse turns their house into a makeshift pediatric unit. "So very early, I must learn to trust You to care for Anna Grace. I do. She belongs to You...." Thomas prays out of frustration when nothing she does calms her crying baby: "She's come undone. I've come unglued. I don't know what else to do ... God ... Give calm and assurance to her little spirit. Let her rest peacefully."
In "Aftershocks" Thomas laments the afterbirth pains she feels, taking it to God: "Lord ... I'm frazzled. I'm crying. I desperately need Your comfort and healing." In another reading, she struggles with postpartum depression: "I am overwhelmed ... Night sweats and chills ... A numb heart paralyzes all of me ... Wipe these tears away, and give my husband patience ... Restore bright days and my hope for the future." New mothers will be comforted knowing that they are not alone in their "blue" days.
Thomas also prays for her friends who are moms --- the new mother whose husband recently has filed for divorce, the friend whose baby has Down Syndrome, the woman who adopts. And, in becoming a mother, Thomas gains a new appreciation for her own mother --- something that parenting tends to inspire. "Lord, her legacy is one that I long to pass on ... Continue to teach me through Mama how to love my babies well."
While honestly acknowledging the many challenges of having a newborn --- coping with sickness, sleepless nights, disruptions in routine, and total exhaustion --- Thomas's devotional prayers are mostly upbeat, sometimes even humorous ("Thank you that a belt is in my future and that baggy jeans might work pretty soon"). Most prayers end on a note of gratitude and praise.
Although new moms might pick up this book for themselves, this is clearly packaged as gift-giving material. The lavender hardcover is gender neutral, and a purple ribbon marker and decorated endpapers are a nice touch. Less attractive are the rather uninspired black-and-white photos0000000king for help in articulating the joys, exhaustion, anxieties and delight that only a newborn baby can bring.

I've read a lot of parenting books and this is one of the best. Each topic is covered in depth from several angles:
--what is known from research on the topic
--suggested strategies and reasons for using these strategies
--variations and additional suggestions made by parents
I appreciate the nuanced, balanced, kind, sane world view as well. I have a lot of respect for what is in this book, in part based on what is NOT in it. For example, disciplinary strategies are neither the overly touchy feely stuff presented in books like "Becoming The Parent You Want To Be" or a hard authoritarian line that neglects to teach kids WHY treating others with respect and doing the right thing is important. There don't seem to be any crazy sidelines (ie. the wacky diet suggestions of the "What to Expect" series). Outdated notions of gender stereotyping are also refreshingly absent. This book is truly geared toward parents who need advice in a very neutral way, rather than assuming that mommy is running the show as so many books do.
If I could only keep one of the greater than one dozen parenting books I have, this would probably be it. I return to it again and again and find solid, workable and to-the-point advice on a host of issues.

If you can only buy one book to get you through your children's preschool-age years, this is it. This book is worth buying rather than borrowing because you'll want to refer back it to over and over. It covers discipline and child development, as well as the larger realms of family and school, in a manner that is accessible, reassuring and very informative. First-person narratives are sprinkled throughout, which makes it enjoyable to read. A very wide range of issues are discussed, in a tone that respects both the parent and child.

This book is great for introducing new siblings, but it is particularly wonderful because of the great pictures.Donald Saaf is a very talented illustrator-I wanted to go out and buy his paintings!

This book was written for us!!My husband & I started reading to our daughter Hannah shortly after her birth. Of course our first children (our dogs) were very jealous of all the attention and we felt bad for them. When we found this touching story, it quickly became our favorite. Thank you, Harriet Ziefert, for reminding us that someday, not to far away, our dogs will love our baby too.
A total delight in both text and illustration.

This compact and engaging story is told from the dog's point of view. Full title is "Pushkin Meets the Bundle". Pushkin is the pup; baby is the bundle. A total delight for all dog lovers whether or not their dog is learning to cope with lack of attention due to a 'bundle'.
