A major source of childhood obesity comes from a child mimicking their parents. "Fit Family: The Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Years" is a different answer to the problem of childhood obesity. Fit parents produce fit children, a child who sees his parents exercise is very much likely to do the same himself. With many fun physical family activities outlined within, ranging from hikes and rides on travels to yoga, it understands the limitations that families may face in cooperation. An approach that is very sound, "Fit Family" is a must for any parents who want to keep their family happy and healthy.

yeah the pictures are old, but the description are exactly what everyones baby goes through, and it reminds us of our son's first year of life, the stuff we didn't write down, and then forgot in a haze of sleep deprivation - the pictures are from the 70's-80's, true, but thats really ok, looks like my clothes from when I was a child!

Oro Selket is truly a modern day Dr. Spock. His no-nonsense approach to modern life's incongruencies and his deep respect and admiration for children makes this book a breath of fresh air among the over-psychoanalized child development books riddled with untested theories that abound in bookstores today.
This guru puts it simply: love your children, teach them well, interact with them at their level and encourage them to learn at their own pace.

In my work I support teachers in improving the quality of their infant and toddler classrooms. I am also working on my masters in Early Childhood Education. I really appreciate this book. It is so full of excellent ideas and great information every care provider should know. I love how this book stresses the importance of building relationships as the foundation of quality care. If you are teaching a class or trying to improve the level of care in your own infant or toddler classrooms, or you are a parent who wants to know what quality care looks like, this is the book for you.

Great learning tool for the baby & toddler

I bougth this item for my toddler who is in Speech Therapy for delayed talking and comprehension. I wanted to find something that could help me to teach him and to practice skills when he wasn't at speech therapy. These cards are great. Each card not only has pictures, but also gives you sentances to use the pictures in, songs, etc. It is a wonderful tool for the baby/toddler that is not in pre-school. Although it is a bit pricey, I have not found anything else which offers so many different ways for the parent to teach their child at home. I give it an A+ and well worth the money if you aren't spending it on pre-school.

This text was a requirement for my Infant Psych class this semester. This contains all the information you'll need to know from conception to the infant's first two years. It was interesting and easy to read even if you never had prior introduction to child psych. Great text for parents-to-be as well. Additionally, this book is small enough to bring on vacation or subway on the way to work.
