I ordered this book because of the reviews. I thought it was going to tell me which homeopathic medicines to take for different illnesses/infections, but it did not. So, this book was not for me. This book is about the history of Homeopathy, Autism, and stories on the successes of other people using Homeopathy medicine. I could care less about the history...I just want to know what I need to take! This book refers you to a homeopathic doctor, but that is what I'm trying to avoid (since they are so costly).

I don't usually use all caps but this was the best book ever on introducing the reader to homeopathy! It's easy to read, and helps those that may not be aware of homeopathy's healing powers that it really does work despite some of the misconceptions out there. If you are new to homeopathy than you MUST READ this book.

I don't usually write reviews because it takes alot to impress me. This books fits that criteria. It is a wonderful book dealing with a mom at her wits end with a child diagnosed with autism. It was recommended to me by a lady studying homeopathy and I am so glad that I took her advise. If there is one book that I would recommend the lay person to understand the when, where, how, what, and why of homeopathy it would be this book. Because I am a mom and I don't have a lot of time to read books with a lot of high minded words written by a person who thinks way to much of themself than they should, I loved this book. She is compassionate and caring and uses words and thoughts that are easy to understand for a person who feels that there has got to be something better out there. When you read this book you can tell that she wrote it out of love and a desire to help others who may have found themselves in a similar situation to hers. I like the book "Homeopathy made simple" for how to treat different ailments and the specific remedies to use, but "The Impossible Cure" is outstanding when compared to other books that I have read dealing with Homeopathy.

If you are truly ready to change, but need some vital direction, then read this book. It will have deep effects.
This book is a strong reminder to commit to yourself spiritually. The open, honest, and perceptive narrative, followed by easily applied exercises (many dealing with chakras and energy), helped give insights that had a real impact. I could sense shifts occurring that have already allowed me to view myself, others, and the purpose of life, differently. You can "feel" the truth of what she is saying. It helped develop an inner wisdom that, in turn, brought me closer to an inner peace.
Content included:
Clear description of properties of chakras and how to see and work with their energy.
Explanation and exercises to enable one to "know" your intuitive ability.
A clearer understanding of our journey through the physical plane.
The exercises are ones you can take with you wherever you are.
She manages to do all this, while reminding us that she too, experiences the work we are all here to do.
Everyone will get what they need from this book.
Laura Alden Kamm has been given a gift that she is kindly using to help others along their path.

A clear, informative, fascinating read. Laura Kamm is a medical intuitive with a difference, not only can she perceive the energetic configurations of health and wellness, but she can also act as a catalyst to healing.
Beautifully written and very encouraging for those who wish to develop their intuitive faculties.
There are some unique exercises in the book that help develop greater awareness. Laura Kamm also looks at major illnesses and their energy signature, she suggests what kind of emotional or psychological attitude might have created them. A worthwhile read for everyone in the healing and consciousness arena.

This book has helped to change my life! It has not left my bedside table since the day I bought it! I don't think it will ever be filed away onto the bookshelf! It has taught me so much about myself and my own ability to really help myself and to know myself. I have gotten so much out of the exercises which, by the way, are all conveniently located at the back of the book, that I have advised everyone I know to get a copy. I have some friends, who once they read it and work with the exercises, have bought many copies to give away as gifts. It could be such a wonderful world if everyone would follow these guidelines and really get to know themselves and help others to do the same. I think it should be mandatory reading for everyone! Enjoy it! Namaste!

INTUITIVE WELLNESS: USING YOUR BODY'S INNER WISDOM TO HEAL began with the author's recovery from a near-death experience twenty years ago, leaving her with the ability to telepathically scan the structure of a person's body to see inner disturbances. INTUITIVE WELLNESS uses this foundation of experience plus her ability to train others in the skill, providing chapters which offer easy exercises to help readers learn about their own unique energy systems. An excellent survey expands the 'how to' world of healing and is a recommended pick for any new age collection strong in psychic knowledge or health.

A valuable tool

Though I would not have expected it with my rigorous and traditional Reiki background, I was inexplicably drawn to this book one day out of the blue. Currently, I am in a period of self-study and examination before I move on to the mastery level/ shinpiden teachings in Usui Reiki Ryoho. This book has valuable tools for the practical side of a Reiki practice, including an inventory of qualities demonstrated by healing facilitators and teachers, tools and tips for teaching classes in Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki, sample consent and client info forms, templates for passing on attunements and wonderful meditations, and lots of personal stories dotting the writing.

Although I may never study this or any related branch of Reiki/energy work, this book is still greatly enriching my experience as I alk the path. The tools are great for anyone, no matter the path. I have been thankful to be exposed to a lot of newer western Reiki techniques in my training, all the while maintaining a deep connection to traditional practices and historical applications of Reiki. This book builds upon the modernized New Age-y methods with many more tools to add to this category. Any teacher or practitioner, whether your methodology may be Usui Reiki Ryoho, SSR, aromatherapy, crystal therapy, or anything else, may enjoy this book for what it contributes.

Diane Shewmaker has a lot of heart in this book. I am sure that you will feel the blessings of healing as you work through it.

Diane shares not only the ancient art of Reiki but also a wealth of experiences and techniques that are readily available not only to Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki and SKHM Reiki, but across all borders of the Reiki lineages. Diane teaches you that there are no limitations as Reiki is constantly evolving through every individuals' own experiences; in turn, creating All Love.

One day, I looked up and saw this book sitting on my home bookshelf. Don't ask me how it got there, but the timing was perfect: I discovered that just a few days hence, the author would be teaching at a local bookstore, and I already had the text in hand. It was just one more step on an amazing journey I couldn't have even begun to have predicted.

Shewmaker has infused this book with such love and compassion that it is not uncommon to feel the healing energy moving through your body just as you sit and read. She walks healers through every step of SSR (Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki), from the origins of its three facets, through all of the symbols and the initiation process, and even into the more mundane matters of healing as a business.

This book is a valuable tool on so many levels, whether you're completely new to energy healing or a seasoned master. I, too, am looking forward to the release of the teacher's manual!

Can't wait for the teacher's edition!

As a SSR Master Teacher, I've been using this manual for my own Sekhem/Seichim/Reiki practice. The atunements in the back of the book are especially powerful and filled with love. For anyone interested in energy work, I would consider this required reading. Even if you have never been exposed to Reiki before and are interested in learning more about it from one of the best teachers out there (she attuned the woman who attuned me), this is a great book for novices as well as seasoned professionals.

This book was worth the price for the "sniffles and snuffles" recipe alone! A single drop of that remedy and my chronically ear-infected, sinus infected child 18 month old easily without any cough syrup (which upsets his stomach violently).

This book is an excellent reference for those wishing to use essential oils on children. It breaks the oils for use down by age and each recipe gives allowable substitutions, so you can tailor it for the child with whom you are working.

I use both of Ms. Wormwood books extensively. She generously shares her knowledge and her craft.

I took an aromatherapy weekend seminar as an introductory to this fascinating subject. Was I surprised as to how interesting and versitile aromatherapy is. As a mother of 4 young children,I have always used natural medicine as a first priority and this has saved us many trips to the doctor and many doses of unwarranted antibiotics. I did not realize the potential that essential oils possess until I took the seminar. I bought this book after I took the seminar and have used it lots especially the oil blends for respiratory problems. I also have used her other book called The Fragrant Pharmacy and this book is LOADED with information. This lady knows her oils and is one of the best there is.You won't regret buying it!

Unlike Worwoods other book The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment, the oils she suggests in this one are difficult to come by. I have used many of her suggestions for other modalities and have found them helpful.

I Love this book, I use it for all memebers of my family.
Its not just for kids, each blend can be used on anyone.
I love the science of EOs, however this book doesnt offer that info on it, but does offer the BEST BLENDS I have ever used.
I know what each oil does, and even when I am sure of what oils I am going to use I find myself opening this book and each oil I have thought on my own to use because I know how great it is for a certain condition, is the oils she has mentioned to use.
Plus the ease of finding what you are need to a blend for is great. The A to Z type of format is wonderful.
As I mentioned I am aware of each oils chemical makeup and find this book to give the best oil for each conditoin.
This is a MUST HAVE. You will be so PLEASED.
Plus make sure to blend up the room disfect spray. I love this spray and use to so often.
BUY this BOOK you will always find yourself going to it.

This is an excellent reference book. It's very informative without being difficult to read. It covers 8 different therapies: Ayurveda, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Traditional Home & Folk Medicine, Herbalism, Aromatherapy, Homeopathy, Flower Remedies, Vitamines & Minerals. It is well organized, even color codes different sections, and has great pictures / illustrations. If I had to elliminate all but one book in my library on health remedies and treatment, this would be the one I would keep.

This book is so easy to use and understand. It presents each item individually and also has a section that covers most problems that people face from upset stomachs to headaches to Cancer. Obviosly some remedies seem far fetched but the vitamin section makes good sense and gives you much more information then the vitamin bottles at the store!

The photography is clear and the people don't all look like super models or over actors!
All the major alternate diciplines are here and the sections are inviting and easy to follow.

This book will easily open your mind to metaphysics, quantum physics, and the VALIDITY of alternative healing therapies (and practitioners to seek after if you're chronically ill and hopeless like I was). I don't know how to convince you, but if you are sick and looking for miracles there are people mentioned in this book who can actually cure most ailments by unimaginable means. I have contacted these healers myself and am being healed as I write. This book leads you to a wonderful shortcut to the medical treatments of the future that probably won't be accepted by society for, I am told, about 50 to 100 years from now. If you're diseased or chronically ill - or know someone who is - take a chance on your own serendipitous fate of coming across this book.

Compelling story of an alternative therapy success

I found this book insightful and inspirational. Randy's writing style was right on the mark. This is a very personal story and journey.

So many books written about alternative therapies today are heavy-handed and decidedly one-sided against modern medicine.

Randy takes a lighter tact. He tells the story of how he and his wife were slowly "pushed" into alternative methods due to allopathic medicines' inability to find the upstream cause of his wife's condition and the continuing pattern of "handoffs" from one allopathic practitioner to another.

I find them both courageous. It's hard to put your life in someone's hands when that someone isn't a doctor. We're taught from young that doctors are the final frontier when something ails the body.

But Randy and his wife weren't looking for PhDs and wall plaques, they were looking for answers to a condition that took much of his wife's vitality and nearly killed her on several occasions.

One of the best books I've read - I couldn't put it down.

nothing else like it ever written!

I am a medical physician. I have purchased and perused scores of well-written books put out by experienced practitioners for other health professionals. Many of them have proved quite useful. None however has given me the sense of what it is like to be the bewildered patient who has just seen a dozen primary care and specialist physicians for a steadily worsening condition, and now does not know where to turn. This book does. I work in an Emergency Department. I see a number of people there, frequently at odd hours, who arrive searching for answers we are hard-pressed to give them there. I think they come to us because they simply don't know where else to turn. Unlike the nicely worked-out treatment guidelines we learn in medical school, there is no clear protocol for those who "fail" our allopathic therapies. And, this is at a time when so many need so much more than what we are presently trained to offer. Diagnosis Unknown explores the actual experience of what it is like to be young, previously healthy, suddenly ill and steadily declining, and with not even a medical diagnosis (let alone medical therapy) in sight. Imagine having already seen every available medical specialist relevant to your condition, and steadily getting worse. Where would you then turn? Massage? Radionics? Acupuncture? Electrodermal screening? This book takes the reader through all of these, and quite a bit more. It is such a handy experiential guide that I have been recommending it to patients and colleagues alike.

This book gives an incredible insight into both conventional and alternative medicine. Although the subject is very serivous the author turns it into a humourous mystery novel.

I have recommended this book to over 20 people and without exception they report back that they couldn't put it down. Most people say they read it in one sitting or in 2 to 3 days.

This book reads like a detective novel.

When I started to read this book I had no idea I would be awake at 2:00am unable to put it down. It is written with the sense of suspense that a who-done-it has. I am a health care professional and although I have a great deal of respect for "modern" medicine, I have all too often witnessed patients made worse by our interventions. I so enjoyed the self disclosure that the author brings to his writing. The reader can readily identify with the search and sympathize with Linda in her desperate illness. The book has given me a great reading list and opened my eyes to methods of diagnosis and treatment that I would never have known about. I also appreciate the direct voice that the author uses - very clear - not on a soap box - simply sharing their adventure. It would be easy, considering their experience, to use this book to vent their collective spleens at the medical community. The battles between the AMA, et al. and alternative medicine were reported factualy without added fuel, allowing for the reader to absorb the information and make up his or her own mind. I recommend this book very highly for anyone who desires to take charge of their health and would like to share how a delightful and charming couple managed to take charge of theirs.

Good Information but in an Odd Format
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-11-10
I am new-ish to homeopathy but not a complete neophyte. I have been using one main book as my reference for a few months now and haven't taken any medicine, save homeopathic remedies, in about 3 months. This includes antihistamines, decongestants AND Naproxen!

I like this book but find it tricky to use. It is hard to pinpoint exactly why the layout is so cryptic but I think it's just generally not an easy reference book. The information is there, just not in a speedy format.

Remedies are organized by type but *inside* those headings are the detailed charts for specific issues, like colds etc.. I guess, if you prescribe to the theory that one of these seven remedies will work for almost everything, it makes sense but I have found that I usually have symptoms that warrant another remedy so it doesn't really work for me.

Another thing that adds to the confusion is; 1) after the chart on symptoms there are more write ups and comparisons underneath as well as the main remedy's attributes. Some might find this a more detailed/comprehensive approach but I feel like I have to look 4 places to get the whole picture instead on just 1 or 2. I would have preferred the charts to be larger and more detailed over having to flip back and forth so much, and 2) There is another chart in the back with quick tips but this one has even fewer remedies listed, sometimes only one or two. I just keep feeling like I have to look here, there and everywhere to get the whole picture of the symptoms/remedies.

It would be nice, also if Kali Bich. were mentioned in the "colds" area, instead of just in the back under "sinusitis", as many head colds lead to sinus issues.

I am giving this a 4, despite my confusion with the book's layout, because it still has a lot of good information and I can tell that the author took a lot of time in considering the layout. I think, potentially due to the small layout of the book, it was just too hard to carry off and is not a huge quirk, just tricky to get used to.

I hope this helps...

An Elegant and Practical Form of Medicine
Helpful Votes: 17 out of 17 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-23
When I first saw the title, "Easy Homeopathy," it sounded like an oxymoron. After all, homeopathy is not easy: and I've been using it for 25 years!

But I was in for a very pleasant surprise. The book is certainly designed for the beginner, but there is plenty of meat for the more seasoned homeopath.

The book is arranged into three parts:
1. Getting started in homeopathy
2. The seven remedies that should be in every medicine cabinet
3. A short alphabetical list of common ailments with suggestions for which homeopathic remedies to use

The first part is not only good reading for the beginner, but is also good preparation for anyone visiting a homeopath for the first time. Some of the questions that you may be asked - "At what time of the day are your symptoms worse? Are there any foods that you hate? What is you favorite type of weather?" - often seem a bit odd, so it is good to know why the homeopath will ask.

Dr. Shalts explains the seven principles of homeopathy:
1. The Law of Similars
2. Provings
3. Individualized Treatments
4. The Single Remedy
5. The Minimal Dose
6. Potencies
7. Hering's Principles of Cure

There are plenty of anecdotes to keep the material fresh and interesting.

In Part 2 he lays out his seven remedies with amusing memory aids:
1. Aconite: He calls this the Homeopathic Emergency Services Unit
2. Arnica: This one is the Homeopathic Surgeon
3. Belladonna: The Homeopathic Pediatrician
4. Chamomilla: This one is called the Homeopathic Babysitter
5. Gelsemium: The Homeopathic Neurologist
6. Ignatia: This is the Homeopathic Therapist
7. Nux Vomica: The Homeopathic Gastroenterologist

This section is very well done, with charts to highlight similarities and differences between remedies.

Part 3 has the list of conditions, and in addition to advice about which remedies to use, Dr. Shalts also suggests other helpful products and, most importantly, when to seek professional help. Some books on homeopathy look a bit like cookery books, but this one enables you to start thinking like a homeopath.

This is an excellent book for the beginner, but there is also much for the more seasoned user. Although it is advertised as a first aid book, there is actually far more inside. Even if you already know something about natural medicine, you will likely find a lot to interest you in this well written, attractive and inexpensive book.

Highly recommended.

"Easy Homeopathy" delivers what other homeopathic books only promise. It explains exactly what to do to quickly eliminate acute problems. Finally I can use homeopathic remedies myself! I've been looking for such a book for so many years! All these "Comprehensive" and "Complete" guides expect me to become a homeopath. But all I want is to be able to use homeopathic remedies right away. The book teaches in detail all the important characteristics of 7 main remedies useful for many conditions. And then it offers over 80 alternatives. The information is organized in numerous tables. Reading "Easy Homeopathy" is fun. Dr. Shalts offers many real -life examples. I also appreciated a "cheat sheet" provided at the end of the book. It directs you to most commonly indicated remedies for many acute conditions. Good job!

If you're interested in using alternative healing this book is a must. Excellent descriptions of the signs on a person's face, backed up with facial picture examples, that indicate which Cell Salt is needed. And another very positive reason for using Cell Salts is that the changes in our faces that come with age, such as wrinkles, will disappear when our body is well!

This book is very helpful book in observing imbalances in the body before the onset of a serious disease. It could also be helpful in realizing chronic imbalances that were left untreated for a long period of time.

I would highly recommend this book for everyone -- especially parents.

Facial Diagnosis Of Cell Salts Deficiencies: A User's Guide.

This is a wonderful book, (I guess this is what I think). What I mean is now when I look at anyone's face or I, myself in the mirror, I can see just how deficient all of us are. Hmmm, did I need to know this?
Well, actually the answer is yes, and so should everyone else know this information. The pictures are the most revealing and the written guide is easy to follow.
I recommend this book to all who care about themselves, family and friends.

I was never seriously ill during most of my life, but a stubborn case of no-external-trigger urticaria (hives) has been plaguing me for nearly a year. I've visited one regular doctor, one osteopath, two emergency room docs, three allergists, and three acupuncturists. They were all unable to cure the hives, but the allergists finally brought my symptoms under control with a powerful hellbroth of prescription drugs:

1 Prednisone (steroid, immunosuppressant) 20mg pill in the morning
1 Tagamet (Cimetidine, H2 antihistamine) 300mg pill in the morning
1 Allegra (Fexofenadine, H1 antihistamine) 180mg pill in the morning
1 Zyrtec (Cetirizine HCl, H1 antihistamine) 10mg pill in the afternoon
1 Atarax (Hydroxyzine HCl, H1 antihistamine) 25mg pill at bedtime
3 Doxepin (antidepressant, sedative) 10mg pills at bedtime
1 Tagamet 300mg pill at bedtime
1 Prednisone 20mg pill at bedtime

Plus, I had to carry an emergency epinephrine (adrenaline) syringe everywhere, just in case my precariously-balanced immune system tipped into anaphylactic shock.

One of the allergists provided me with a light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel newsflash: "These cases usually burn themselves out in three to five years."

But if you take Prednisone for a long time, you tend to gain a lot of weight, and your immune response is slowly crippled. The allergists tried to cut down the Prednisone gradually, but my hives always returned with a vengeance. [A minor bout with urticaria is much like being flayed alive... and after experiencing several full-blown major attacks, I wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy.] I was clinically depressed, and marginally suicidal.

My doctors thought I was doing great, considering.

Since the AMA and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioners couldn't really help, I turned to homeopaths as a last resort. Even though I had always viewed homeopathy as a marginal--if not totally quack--science, I was at the end of my rope and desperate enough to try anything.

After a few homeopathic treatments, my drug regimen is now down to:

1 Prednisone 2.5mg pill (1/16 of my previous daily intake) in the afternoon
1 Benadryl 25mg pill (over-the-counter antihistamine) at bedtime

These doctors are determined to wean me off drugs completely, God bless 'em. Needless to say, I now highly recommend homeopaths. And they recommended that I read Homeopathy: Beyond Flat Earth Medicine, for an overview.

I wish I'd read it a year ago.

My homeopathist recommended reading this book before my first visit. My experience was so successful that I ordered several more books to lend to family, friends, and acquaintances who show an interest in homeopathy. This book really prepares you to get the most out of the homeopathic interview and cooperate with the healing process.

Have you ever noticed how your mood is instantly elevated when you inhale the scent of a rose deeply and with purpose. The world seems like a better place instantly. Rose oil has a frequency of around 320 MHz. Flowers are beautiful on their own and can lift your mood with their fragrance or with their petals blowing in the breeze in nature.

So, what other secrets do flowers conceal? Apparently, they can help us to change our emotional state. The scent of roses is said to dispel anger, or so I have read! In this book, flowers are celebrated as natural healers which can help us return to a healthful state.

Our emotions can at times manifest themselves as a health issue and greatly affect our bodies. Dr. Edward Bach (1897-1936) believed that physical illness was a manifestation of emotional imbalance. He believed we can heal and balance the body with nontoxic methods.

Some of the remedies include:

ASPEN - For fear or anxiety IMPATIENS - For impatience, irritability and nervousness. MUSTARD - Severe depression WILLOW - For neutralizing resentment and bitterness VERVIAN - For tension and hyperactivity or overachieving STAR OF BETHLEHEM - For mental shock

There are also remedies you can take for sensitivity, disappointment, muscular cramps, skin rashes, recurrent ailments, critical attitudes and bad dreams.

Look into other health remedies like Arnica for injuries, Pulsatilla for nasal problems, Cantharis for cystitis, Chamomile tea for a restful sleep and Gelsemium for flu symptoms. Look for a homeopathic brand called: Oscillococcinum for symptoms of the flu in the winter. The theory is that a infinitesimal amount of a plant substance can stimulate the body's healing defenses.

The closer you can match your symptom to the remedy, the more effective it will be for you. I suggest reading other homeopathy books along with this one. I also recommend "Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie and Alan Higley" from abundant-health4u.com as they have the best products I have found so far.

This book is a wonderful introduction to both the philosophy and the practice of the Bach Flower Remedies. It provides a lot of information without overwhelming the reader. The book is arranged in three sections. The first is Dr. Bach's essay entitled "Heal Thyself" which is about how each one of us has the power and is capable of healing ourself, the second section gives a short, useful description of each essence. The third section is a wonderful list of numerous emotional states and the appropriate essence to use for each one.

If you're at all interested in learning how to treat yourself using these remedies, this is the book for you. I've had this book for approximately 6 months and it is well worn already!

Dr. Edward Bach, a skilled homeopathic physician, developed his own theory about the cause of disease. Dr. Bach believed that physical diseases begin as an imbalance in the patient's emotional well-being. By attending to emotions and weeding out harmful emotions from the patient's psyche, a healing trend can be initiated that assists the patient in avoiding future physical diseases. Treating emotional states addresses diseases while they are still at the energy level. Dr. Bach believed that the flower essences could even be helpful once disease had progressed to a physical manifestation. The flower essences do not replace other treatments such as homeopathy, but they can assist other treatments by soothing the patient's mental condition and initiating preliminary steps towards healing the imbalance that led to the disease in the first place.

This book is filled with wonderful information that the beginner can use to learn to use the flower essences to heal themselves and others. It is the basic text and everyone who is interested in flower essences should have this text regardless of what other texts they own as well. Bach thoroughly explains his theory on the source of disease and then each flower essence is examined, one by one, showing the emotional profile of the patient who would most benefit from each remedy.

The system is very simple and can be learned easily by the layman but it is very effective -- only 38 remedies cover the entirety of negative human emotions! Dr. Bach insisted that the flower essences be kept simple because he believed that their simplicity was a key factor of their effectiveness. Treating one's self and others with flower essences is simple to learn but it is also an art that one will spend the rest of their lifetime developing and perfecting.

Contains Dr. Bach's priceless gem!
