This book was really good - it showed his whole life. The pictures were great and the tips accurate. It really shows the life of a player and how hard you have to try to make it big. It was a great thing for me---you should check it out.

A must have for any fan of this star defenseman!!!

The worst thing about this book is it doesn't have enough pages...I found myself wanting to read more. There are a lot of tips for young players and some bio information which is interesting. The pictures are great, espescially the younger ones. Thanks to Chris for sharing them with all of us.

The Finest Matthew Barney Book Ever

This is a must-have for Matthew Barney fans and collectors. Barney's first published drawings, printed in lush duotone plates, are surreal and evocative. The case bound volume is issued in the tradition of fine press printing with a limited edition of 1,000. The letters are printed in letterpress on Japanese paper. There are also black & white images of Barney as General MacArthur from a project filmed in the spring of 2006 at Barbara Gladstone Gallery. Book was released March 2007.
Get a copy or two before it sells out.

I am so happy to have paid only $75 for this AMAZING book of the master of mastur. When it arrived, I ripped open the cardboard Amazon shipper, hot acid juices roaring in my throat, my mind raced waiting to see the interior of a Terry book. His childhood photos for petesake! The magician of weinered snapshots! I flipped thur the glorious pages for what seemed like an eternity of....3 min. That was it...I was spent. I really recommend you buy 2 in case one explodes due to sheer creative energies colliding with marxist ideals....heavy stuff.

As a life-long jazz musician and New Orleans culture enthusiast, it was with some trepidation that I approached this book. I have often found similar accounts dissapointing and lacking in evoking the true spirit of the Harold Dejan and the band. However, within pages, I was hooked. British born (though evidently extremely insightful into New Orleans culture) author Burns clearly knows his stuff, and a combination of what is obviously dedicated passion on his part, along with accurate research finally stand to do the subject justice. This book comes highly recommended to anyone wanting a truly personal, alive and evocative account of this great jazz institution.

Author Fran Robinson wants the reader to share a personal, yet tragic story of a young woman's hard life; from the innocence of teenage crushes to the ugly and brutal truth of mental, physical and emotional abuse. And so the reader is exposed to how Nadedge becomes swallowed up in psychological counseling and her efforts to relive and overcome prejudice and feelings of worthlessness.

Ms. Robinson write heartbreaking and personal accounts of Nadedge's journey, showing a great interest in sharing these brutally honest events written in `journal type' entries so that the reader becomes, not judgmental, but grows in understanding and compassion of how things like this happen in relationships.

While at times, the author jumps from topic to topic in her paragraph-style entries, the reader nevertheless sees that this is how most people think; from a disjointed `tickling' of feelings and thoughts to strong convictions. It Didn't Happen is an informative, eye-opening read into a topic that is still considered `taboo' and more often than not is `always her fault'.

Sobering yet hopeful, depressing yet encouraging, this is a story that needs to be told, and one that women from all walks of life and circumstance must read.

This book is a must read for all hockey fans, not just Red Wings or Yzerman fans. It follows one of the NHL's greatest captain throughout his NHL career, from the beginning to his 16 years as a Red Wing to his back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in 1997 and 1998. It's not just filled with stories to put a smile on your face, though. There's amazing full-colour photos of Steve at his best and quotes from many NHL players and coaches about Steve. I think the most interesting part of the book is Steve's game-day routine . I've always wondered what a player like Steve does on game-day, now I know! Paul Harris has put together a great book that all hockey fans can enjoy. I recommend it to everyone who likes hockey. From little kids to adults, anyone can enjoy this book.

GHB is NOT DANGEROUS (Arekady know's whats up)

Review Date: 2005-06-07
GHB is under many circumstances THE SAFEST DRUG IN THE WORLD (WHEN USED PROPERLY). That definitely sucks that people get raped but when in a place where your drink is vulnerable to being contaminated you need to keep a careful eye on it if it is exposed or most definitely do not return to it after you have walked away. That is why experimenting with any substance is much more safe and fun in a good and known environment based on fully informed decisions with trusted people. It is much better to be in total control of the situation unlike at a BAR or a CLUB. I cannot believe the ignorance of some people who after a tragic experience, direct all of their anger over something that could have been prevented, towards a completely uninformed judgement. GHB SHOULD NEVER EVER BE COMBINED WITH ALCOHOL. WHEN USED BY ITSELF IT HAS MANY POSITIVE EFFECTS IF USED UNDER 3 SPECIFIC GUIDELINES.
1. You must know how much GHB you are taking.
2. You must know how much GHB you are capable of taking
3. Do NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.

GHB does not do any damage to the body when used in a sane matter. It is completely metabolized into water and carbon dioxide leaving absolutely no toxic metabolites. In Conclusion, GHB, UNDER MANY CIRCUMSTANCES IS A SAFE DRUG TO USE FOR MANY PURPOSES. I could go on with more reasons but I wont. Like any psychoactive substance there are negative effects associated with them, mainly phsycological addiction in this case, but they do serve a purpose, believe it or not. I should not have had to write this in the first place, but it was for suredly necessary to set the record straight for all you ignorant folks out there who just had to read a little bit before opening your huge mouths.

Reject fear with Love

The fear mongers are full of fear. Don't be afraid to take personal responsibility and don't be afraid to use your brain. One day GHB will be legal again when the world is run by loving people, who want to break down the barriers of fear, anger and hate. Cars, guns and Tylenol are more dangerous than GHB. The hateful corporates, zionists, and other religious fundalmentalists want to control your lives. It is that simple. Unconditional love is the answer, and GHB can certainly be a positive aid.

You can Overdose on Water also, I love our country of validating Big Brother's need to take care of us all.

GHB is as addictive as the addictive patterns and behavior's as the individual using it. Our government latches on to any justification for Control and justifying it's existence, yes we all pay a price for stupid people and the biggest price is that those who are capable of using this drug responsibly are penalized by idiots. Also to address the Rape issue..

YOU CAN BE RAPED WITHOUT GHB, JUST SO YOU KNOW, IN CASE YOU COULDN'T FIGURE THAT OUT.

The book is ok

My perspective on the reviewers and the book. Can GHB be used in rape - yes. Does it cause people to rape other people - no. Can any CNS depressant be used for that purpose? Yes. Are they? Yes. Are they used much more frequently than GHB? Yes. Which is used most frequently for such egregious purposes? Alcohol. Is there anything novel about GHB in this capacity? No.

Here is my analogy, should we remove flashlights from the world because someone can hit people with them? No. Flashlights have their appropriate uses. Flashlights don't make people hit other people with flashlights.

Is the drug a miracle cure for everything? No. Is it a mood enhancer? That has never been established so the title is misleading. Does the drug have potential benefit for other conditions? Yes. Should those conditions be evaluated before others say it works for that condition? Yes. Just because it `worked' for someone doesn't mean that it could hurt someone else with the same condition. The drug has been shown to be very beneficial and safe for people with narcolepsy.

There is some decent review of the science history of GHB in this book but the conclusions are speculative. My conclusions, if you want to get "drunk" - go have some good tequila. If you want to sleep better, work on your sleep hygiene. If you want to rape someone, go to hell and stay there. If you have narcolepsy, GHB is an option for your symptoms.

Another point of view regarding Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB)

What I can tell you is this. Not only is GHB a mood enhancer, it also helps others who have trouble sleeping get a full nights rest, due to it putting you into a deep REM stage of sleep, REM (Rapid Eye Movement - deepest stage of sleep, AKA a dream stage), but if you are also athletic, it causes the pituitary gland in the brain to secrete HGH (Human Growth Hormone), which has a variety of benefits, including but not limited to, a younger appearance, fat loss, and if you happen to have thinning hair, or hair loss, it will thicken it's growth.

However, because of mean spirited people in this world, they end up ruining it for everyone else. People, I happen to have sleeping problems, and now that GHB has been removed from health food stores (which, at one time you could purchase it under many different names, such as Blue Nitro, Renewtrient, Solar Water, etc.), I, along with others, now have to do without, and suffer, because this natural, organic, zero calorie substance is now considered a 'date rape drug'. I have been to a sleep specialist, and under current laws, GHB (now only marketed as Xyrem by Orphan Medical) is a Schedule III substance (only available with a prescription) is now only approved for people who happen to suffer from Cataplexy. People with Narcolepsy are only approved drugs such as Ambien, Lunesta, or stimulants such as Provigil, which I have tried all of the mentioned and they do nothing for me.

To all of the mean spirited people who decided to use this substance as a 'date rape drug', you should be ashamed of yourselves, but I know you are not. You don't care. That's obvious. As far as I am concerned, you should be given a life sentence for what you have done.

This book is a great coffee table item...I have been a Blues fan since 1986, that's right, the Monday Night Miracle. I loved the building. I played an inline hockey game with friends before a Vipers game as a promotion for the rink we played at locally. Just being behind the scenes in a "locker room" was amazing. I received this book for Christmas and read it before noon Christmas Day. I found the pictures and stories great, but it certainly lacked real information. I was very interested in the design of the building, the architechure, and stories about the tunnels and hidden walkways that this book hints at, but never dives into telling you. How about a volume two???

The Arena was built in 1929 for dairy cows, and it was in that building that the first power play in the history of the NHL happened in 1934.My grandmother could tell you about my cousin,Larry Finch, who played against mighty UCLA in 1973,for Memphis State. It was also where Penny Hardaway hit one of the most dramatic shots in Memphis State history in 1992. I cried when the place was imploded, because my friend , Kevin Holowchik, is a Blues fan and he was born there in St.Louis. You can tear the building down, but you cannot tear down the memories.

In the 1940s I can recall walking from our house on Cates, down DeBaliviere, through Forest Park and seeing that magnificant structure, The Arena. It featured a sign, "The Arena - Where the Big Events are held" along with the BAA Basketball sign for the Bombers and the AHL sign for the Flyers. Patti Smith Jackson's book, resplendith with photographs, allows those affectionados of this marvelous structure to keep memories such as this by putting her work in your hands whilst the building itself is now gone. Being over 65 I would have enjoyed more information about the earlier tennents of the building such as the Flyers of the American Hockey Association from 1928 to 1942 and then in the American Hockey League from 1944 to 1953. I can remember Neil Norman announcing the last period of the games starting at 9:45 PM on WIL in the 40s and Harry Caray doing same in the 50s. I would have liked more info on Tom Pack's wrestling matches at the Arena. I would have liked more information on the Bombers basketball team that started in the Basketball Association of America in 1946 and were one of the teams in the first season of the National Basketball Association in the 1949-50 season before folding. What I found missing in the Arena book was any mention of the Wirtz's moving some of the Chicago Blackhawks games to the Arena in 1953/54 to test the St. Louis market. It allowed a lot of us to see the greats, Gordie Howe, Maurice "Rocket" Richard, terrible Ted Lindsay. Also they had little coverage about the Bombers BAA/NBA team. Attendance was so bad that last season and I remember going to basketball doubleheaders with my Dad in the 49-50 season where he paid $1.25 for general admission and I got a ticket for a penny (on penny nights). Also after the Bombers folded after their first season, 49-50, the New York Knickerbockers wanted ex-St. Louis University star Easy Ed Macauley so badly that they offered to purchase the entire Bombers team but the NBA put the nix to that and Easy Ed went to the Boston Celtics instead. Harry broadcast the last half of the Bombers games on WIL also. But then it is really interesting how the folks responsible for the Big Events kept it all together with scotch tape and glue. This book is a MUST for anyone who loved the Arena and certainly will help the memories live on!

That building is beautiful -- LETS GO BLUES!

I loved this book, but I wish it had more details about the Arena itself. For example the book twice mentions the basement in the Arena, but nowhere does it describe this basement. I would have liked to see more details. Overall the best (and only) book dedicated to the great St. Louis Arena that is near to many hearts.
