This book was unremarkable compared to the 10-12 others I have read regarding the subject of asthma. All are good, but all fall short in one respect: their recommendations (or lack of reccomendations) on natural treatments for Asthma. Most Asthma books don't recommend any holistic/herbal remedies; they only recommend pharmaceutical drugs. A few Asthma books like these do recommend natural remedies, but these remedies are often unproven, and can be dangerous if mixed with other drugs/alcohol. I am really disappointed in all Asthma books in general, because they most often do not recommend the three most important ORTHOMOLECULAR Asthma remedies: Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin C. Calcium is simply there to balance magnesium and to chelate with ascorbate (vitamin C) to make calcium ascorbate. Magnesium relaxes lungs and improves air flow. Last and certainly not least, vitamin C has potent antihistamine effects via inhibiton of mast cell degranulation, and also has bronchodilator effects via inhibition of phosphodiesterase. Taking several grams
a day of vitamin C (preferably buffered calcium ascorbate), along with some magnesium may completely inhibit mild asthma, and should significantly help moderate to severe asthma, with no known drug interactions (except perhaps with Theophylline, which inhibits the same phosphodiesterase enzyme that vitamin C does). This book was a great reference for Basic Industrial Hygiene information. It was very easy to understand and to find information. If you are looking for a book, which will help you learn the concepts of Industrial Hygiene or as a good basic reference guide you have found your book.

The book covers the effect of Minamata disease upon those who suffered organic mercury poisoning as a result of eating fish form Minamata Bay in great detail. Similarly it goes into detail about how the Chisso Coperation (which was responsible for the polluting of the bay) consistently tired to first to cover up its responsibility for polluting the bay, and later its efforts to intimidate and discredit the victims of Minamata disease and their supporters. In this area the book does a very thorough job. The book however covers the cause of Minamata disease, organic mercury poisoning only periferally. I found this to be a flaw in the book. Although met as a "human history" of the effects of the organic mercury poisoning of Minamata Bay, the book still needed to cover several things. For example, how the mercury moved through the food chain, and how it finally caused severe disease and deaths in humans should have been covered. Adding this information would have greatly improved the reader's understanding of Minamata disease and made the book much more powerful. Still the book is very good and largely does what the author intended - to show both the suffering of the Minamata disease victims, as well as the extreme corperate irresponsiblity that led to so much human suffering and destruction of the environment. For those interested in a historical event which had a great effect on the environmental movement, as well as our understanding of how pollutnants can move through the foodchain the ultamately effect human health, I recommend the book.

I use this book in my science classroom and I am constantly amazed at the different concepts you can cover using only coke bottles. The instructions, diagrams, and background information are excellent. I definitely recommend this book to all science teachers and anyone else wanting to study science in an affordable, easy-to-understand way.

I had to do a seminar for work, and I didn't have many resources on my topic: carbamate pesticides. This book was very informative, providing me with the compounds in the class, with their mode of toxicity, and with their uses and misuses. I found out that one of the most toxic substances known to man, aldicarb, is a carbamate pesticide. I realize that most people out of the scientific field would not find this book interesting, but since I am a chemist, I was impressed with this book.

This excellent book details ways in which we can invite nature spirits to work with us in creating a garden. The garden can be a plot of land with vegetables and flowers, or it can be a project for growing better relationships or for growing in our own inner wisdom.

Everyone's class will be individually designed by and for that person. The average class takes 4 years.

Nature can sort out its lessons in a more structured and orderly way when you let them know the parameters for your availability.

This is an excellent self-help book, enriched by the author's sharing of her own path in opening to intuitive and spiritual awarenesses and learning to be a co-creative gardener.

I have reviewed and tried to read numerous books on the osha guidelines but this is without a doubt the best! The information was understandable and informative and the narative was interjected enough to keep me awake. I especially found the section, chapter, on what is osha recordable / what is not most helpful. This chapter alone makes the book worth purchasing. It also provided a generous amount of details on others regulations and inspections tips.

Dr. Edelstein is careful and methodical in his telling of the enormous psychological impact of water contamination. He is especially informative about the factor of "place" as it affects individuals and families whose wells are poisoned.

The Core Curriculum for Occupational and Environmental Nursing is a quality resource for all Occupational Health Nurses. It has extensive information for many facets and applications of Occupational Health. The chapters are well organized and the writing is succinct and to the point. There does not appear to contain overspeak which often can limit the effectiveness of a professional text. Ms. Salazar's extensive experience and knowledge are clearly presented in a very useful text which should be a part of every Occupational Nurse's library.
