Super Read!

This book was excellent! The author writes about one of her own waiting experiences, but generalizes her learning so that the reader can easily apply it to their own experience. While you may not be ready to move through all the waiting stages as you read the book, it is helpful to know what the stages should be...then you can set future goals for yourself and recognize your growth.

A Great Collection of Articles

Review Date: 2003-11-22
The articles collected in this volume concern the history and ethnography of Ternate, Tidore, Bacan, Buru, Seram, the Kei and Tanimbar Islands apart from Halmahera itself.
All are written by experts on the area yet most are enjoyable and interesting to anyone with an interest in history and peoples of Maluku.

Series for adults now rewritten for teens
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2004-12-26
I have always enjoyed the adult series of Left Behind books. The kids books are just as good. The kids interact with the characters from the adult series, experience the same events, etc. However, since the main characters are teens, these books can appeal to younger readers. So far, the stories haven't had the ups and downs that the adult series has had. The adult series has books that are a lot more boring than others. The kids series seems to be good in every book. These are not for really young kids, but would be appropriate for young teens. I enjoy them and I am an adult.

Heaven : It's Not The End Of The World

Wonderful little book

This book offers a concise, highly-readable description of what heaven might be like. Solidly grounded in biblical teachings, and filled with scriptural references, Lawrence argues that traditional Christian views of an otherworldly, ethereal heaven are not true to the Bible. Instead, he provides pictures of what a "new earth" might look like. I would recommend this book for any person interested in taking a closer look at Christian teachings about what happens when we die, anyone dealing with the loss of the loved one, or anyone open to imagining the beauty of the world to come.

Not Your Ordinary Quality Improvement Book
Helpful Votes: 27 out of 29 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-31
After more than fifteen years in health care as a medical social worker, I've seen my share of QI ideas. Believe me, this is the best book I've ever seen on this subject. It is everything you as a health care professional would need to get serious about using quality improvement to make real changes in practice--and in principle. If you work in end-of-life care and are tired of seeing patients with unrelieved pain, want to move beyond the living will to comprehensive advance care planning, are willing to recognize the role of spirituality in bereavement--just for example--the information you need is here. This is not your ordinary quality improvement book. It talks about real action and practical ways to change entrenched systems. The quotes at the beginning of the chapters are from Will Rogers and Yoda and Anonymous: "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." The authors, Dr. Joanne Lynn, Janice Lynch Schuster, and Andrea Kabcenell, have a penchant for clear writing and well-organized outlines. The book is sponsored by the Center to Improve Care of the Dying and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. If you are ready to start improving end-of-life care tomorrow, read the book today.

In the End--The Beginning: The Life of Hope

Excellent Reading and Inspirational
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-01
I have read several of Moltmann's books and have found all of them to be inspirational, ones that should be read by any clergy or person interested in theology. This one is no exception. Moltmann again writes in an easy to understand style, one that is based on personal background and from the heart and mind. His viewpoints on making sense out of the happenings in today's world as part of God's plan, not necessarily man's, gives one hope and preparation for that new beginning. His writings have been the basis and support of many sermons I have written and will continue to help me understand our relationship, not only with the Trinity, but also with man. Moltmann is able to take historical perspective in relation to the writings in the Bible and other religious works and make it come alive. He is one of my most favorite theological writers and will continue to be in the forseeable future. A definite read for all serious students of religion.

Intercession in Depth
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-09
"Intercessors, God's End-Time Vanguard," by Susan Gaddis is more than a simple how-to-pray manual. It is a detailed and comprehensive study of the ministry and calling of intercession that every believer is given the responsibility to participate in.
The book begins by laying a foundation for the intercessor; knowing her place in God and knowing how to operate in her rights and authority as a believer. This discussion is followed by a unit on intercession as warfare. Practical application and strategy are given. The book closes with suggestions that will help the intercessor avoid burn out and other pitfalls.
Written clearly and logically, Gaddis has taken great care to back up all that she teaches with scripture. Personnal examples are given throughout making it evident that the author has 'practiced what she preaches.' All believers could benefit from a thorough study of this work. To that end each chapter closes with application questions suitable for individual as well as group study. Overall a fine treatment of the topic, I highly recommend "Intercessors, God's End-Time Vanguard."

Last night I had to arm wrestle my best friend for my personal, autographed copy of Cec Murphey's book "Invading the Privacy of God." She only had to open to page one to look up at me wide-eyed and say, "I have to have this book! I won't be able to put it down!"

If you want to know about God...if you want a more personal glimpse into His personality and you desire a more intimate relationship with Him...THIS is the book you must begin with! Cecil Murphey has done a powerful job of telling us more about our Awesome God...and has respectfully invaded His privacy!

The Magnificent Saadat Hasan Manto
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-04-06
Saadat Hasan Manto is generally considered the greatest short story writer of the Urdu language, centered on the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent. Kingdom's End and Other Stories is a collection of many of his best work which is marked by incredible writing talent, unsentimental realism, and a D.H. Lawrentian approach to sensuality. However, the reader should be aware that most of the short stories in this collection revolve around the events of Partition, a horrific episode of history. Manto's characters are flawed, often capable of the most grotesque acts, and utterly believable. Khalid Hasan has done a wonderful job in his translations and I recommend this book to anyone looking for intelligent, brilliantly written fiction. It's out of print, but definitely worth a search through online and local bookstores.

Last Chance: A Survial Guide for End - times Evangelism

Review Date: 2003-10-15
I did not just want another adult to share what they thought so I had one of the students in my Student Ministry read the book and this is what she shared:
"Last Chance" is a great book, and I know it has changed the way I think of most biblical things. Such as, when the rapture will take place, prophecy, and ways to share your love for Christ to others who are unfortunate enough not to know Jesus at all. This book talked about things that really mattered to teens, like sharing the word with your friends and other non believers. They gave this analogy "Gospel". Gospel stands for God created us to be with Him. Our sins separate us from God. Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. Everyone who trusts in him alone has eternal life. Life that's eternal means we will be with Jesus forever. It gave me a way to evangelize to my friends or anyone, because "Gospel" tells you everything it takes to be a Christian.

I personally am not one who likes to read, but reading this book was really an awesome experience. I now have more confidence to talk to my friends about Christ, and I know how to begin a God talk without coming on to strong with it. I was always looking forward to reading "Last Chance" because I would always learn something new every time I would open up to read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone to read. I truly believe that anyone would get something big or maybe even something life changing out of it. I know it changed my life in a big way. Thank you so much Gregg Stier for writing such a terrific book. Kristen Taylor 8th Grade in Mesa, AZ
