Must one's dreams die when the use of one's legs is taken away? "Boy in Motion: Rick Hansen's Story" is the story of a child
who adapted to being paraplegic and did everything he could to continue his love of baseball and fishing. Illustrated with
a great watercolor based style, "Boy in Motion" is an inspiring story to give to any wheel-chair bound child, and an excellent
pick for community library children's collections.

A complete multi-sensory/multimedia activities program using original music and lyrics to help make learning fun for all students,
especially for children who don't learn in traditional ways. Included are: a 300-page teacher's manual with step-by-step lesson
plans and activities; a 129-page illustrated musical story called "Chooper Park"; and three audio cassettes - all protected
in a vinyl case. Two of the cassettes are correlated with the lesson-plan activities and the third presents all six chapters
of the musical story. Great for children with musical intelligence!

This has become one of my favorite children's books. It touches so many different levels and topics. I read it to a second
grade class and we discussed everything from diner lingo, to a grand train station such as our Union Station in KC, to polio
and immunizations, to the president, to growing up and being whatever you dream to be. They loved it and I think you will
too.

Reading this book opened up a whole new world of thought for me. What is true love... our own selfish desire or the ability
to let go?
Mr. Hyndman weaves an excellent true story of a young man's journey through the incredible hardship of paralysis, and the ultimate act of love by his mother. Well written and certainly a story worth sharing.

I found the second edition of this book (year 2000) for free on the web at ... Some may prefer a bound copy of the book rather
than the printing a copy off the web. But I noticed that the used copies available here are the first edition, not the more
recent edition. The book is simply and clearly written and is a good orientation for parents wondering if their child has
a learning disorder and what to do next. Topics include what things to look for in determining whether there is a learning
disorder, how to communicate and work with the school, what kind of tests are used, how to interpret test results, and how
to promote your child's self-esteem. Each chapter recommends additional resources and books for more information. There
are also tips on making learning fun for kids. Hope this helps.

"Bright....and Behind" is a wonderful book to read WITH your learning disabled child. This book lets the child know that
he/she is not alone in their struggle with a learning disability, that there ARE other children out there just like them.
Children know that there are loving parents and teachers, but they need to be reassured that other kids understand what
they are going through. The personal point of view this book takes helps both the child and the adult realize that perserverance
can get them through. "Bright....and Behind" is also informative for the parents of learning disabled children because it
gives them the chance to understand that even a caring, patient, loving parent (even with degrees in recreation and guidance
and counseling) it can be extremely hard to deal with. In conclusion, this book is a extremely useful tool in deciphering
the troubles of a learning disability.

Clara has had trouble finding a true friend and when she finally does her friendship is severely tested when her friend Nettie
undergoes a stroke. Any child who has suffered through a friend's devastating illness will recognize Clara's frustration,
her valiant attempt to keep on hoping against the odds, and her final acceptance of the need to go on from where she finds
herself after Nettie's recovery rather than holding on to how things were in the past. A heartfelt story, beautifully crafted.

Being one of the first students to analyze and experience the BPFT was quite amazing. Not only because it was a chance to
be a part of something new but mostly because I could see that this test will revolutionize physicial fitness testing. This
is a collection of tests that can be used for able and disabled students with standards for both. The brilliancy of this
work is that it fully allows you to customize a physical fitness test battery for nearly any student.

I recently purchased this book because I have Asperger's. I found the book to be very insightful and well written. Even
though I do not have any brothers or sisters, it was nice to realize that I am not the only one who has these problems. My
mother also enjoyed reading the book and too could identify with the characters in the book. For people who have Aspergers
or who are growing up with a brother/sister with Aspergers I strongly recommend this book! For people in the medical field
this book is ideal. It will give you a better insight on how siblings relate to one another when one or the other has Aspergers.
This is a great book and I hope that its writers will consider publishing more books on this subjest. Please, BUY THIS BOOK!

Daniel's story is both moving and inspiring on a multitude of levels for all those who are considered different --- irrelevant of which form that difference might manifest itself.
He is a truly remarkable man with an even more remarkable support network.
The style of the book is intimate and honest in both style and content.
It is not often that I genuinely feel intense emotions when reading and I admit that a few times I literally had to put the book down and walk away from it for a while.
Thank you Daniel for being you.
