This book was very thorough in explaining celiac disease. It was also very easy to read and didn't contain lofty sentences. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed, you should read this to get the whole picture. It's more than just not being able to eat wheat as so many complications can occur, which this book explains in full depth.

I was diagnosed with celiac disease in the fall of 2007, and I immediately went to the library to check out the most recent book on celiac disease. This was it, and it was so excellent I decided to buy a copy to have as a constant reference. This book has the latest information on celiac disease. Dr. Peter Green is the head of the celiac disease center at Columbia University; therefore, he is an authority on the subject. The co-author, Rory Jones, has celiac disease herself. The book was written with understanding and compassion, and the disease and potential complications are explained in a clear, easy to understand manner. If you have struggled with gastro-intestinal problems for years, and the doctors can't figure out what's wrong with you, you should read this book.

This is a good book if you want to learn all about digestion, the areas of the body involved and how different foods, herbs, and minerals can heal (or destroy) the body. It was interesting to discover how many ailments that are not commonly associated with digestion actually were alleviated or reduced by change in diet and supplementation.

I recommend the author consider making the text flow better on a re-write of this text. To me the book was very reference-like. I admit it did state in the beginning that the book was not written to be read from front to back. Nevertheless, I expect books to read this way unless it's specifically labeled as a reference text.

I found this book to be very informative. It is written in easy to understand, plain language. Everything is explained well enough for a lay person to understand.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like a deeper understanding of how the digestive process works. Anyone who desires to take control of their health should read this. My doctor told me that the colon controls 90% of the other organs of the body. I had a hard time believing that until I began to do research on the digestive system. I have concluded that he was right.

As a General Surgeon in an undeveloped country (Dominican Republic) I have found this book very practical in order we may diagnosis in and acute abdominal pathology without the help of TAC. Must of the time we use clinics and ultrasound and the book gives the keys for a close aproximation to the diagnosis.
Perhaps is a popular book in USA but we have no translation of it in Spanish and I think it is excellent for helping medical students and residents to improve in their knowledge about acute abdomen.

One of the most influential medical texts ever. Cope's work gets only more relevant with increasing fragmentation of care. I would argue the book is especially useful for those NOT planning a career in surgery. The work is concise, accurate, and filled with memorable language. If you spend half an hour on the appendicitis section you should be equipped to make the diagnosis correctly. Other sections are equally good, as Dr. Silen has the sense not to fix what is not broken.

A must have for every medical doctor...surgeon or not...

I readed this book the first time 26 years ago, and it gave me a "sixth" sence as a suregon. Today I, as orthopaedical surgeon still have in my mind the essentials of the Dr. Cope's master-piece. I think it must be as a duthy ("a must be read book") in every serious medical school, to teach alumnii the surgeon's mind...even if the alumnii goes to clinical areas later on.

A no-nonsense approach to better health with out going crazy exercising. I have studied nutrition for over 26 years and this really makes a lot of sense. M.D.'s that also have a nutritional background would have a hard time arguing that this isn't beneficial and the book is endorsed by one. The book explains the details of what the briefing on PBS covered. After a few days of following I already feel better. I am anxious to have my cholesterol checked after following the formula for a month.

My husband's gastroenterologist sent him for every high-tech test which cost our insurance co. thousands of dollars to try to diagnose his abdominal discomfort. Absolutely no conclusions were reached by 3 M.D.'s and my husband's extreme pain continued for 2 year. The "purple pill" was recently prescribed by the family M.D. and the side effects became worse than the problem.

Lo and behold we heard of Brenda Watson's H.O.P.E. formula about 6 weeks ago and the change has been phenomenal. The cause of his problem is so clearly explained by Brenda and the solution has been easy to implement. Brenda Watson is a Godsend to anyone experiencing abdominal discomfort and she does a great job in this book.

Signed,
One grateful family!

This book and PBS program on HOPE helped me understand what happens inside our body with respect to digestive system what we have to take care if we need to live longer and healthy. Guys I say don't hesitate to buy this book and this might save your or your loved one's life. I mean it. I have started following some of the recommendations. I am planning to buy detox strategy book by Brenda too.

Dear Trent,

I am currently reading your digestive health book. What a fantasic book. It should be required reading for everyone involed in integrative medicine. I thought I would tell you about an interesting lab test we have her in Australia, which maybe you are familiar with. It is by a lab called 'Bioscreen' at the University of Melbourne, Australia. The test is called the 'Faecal Microbial Analysis'. I have attached a sample report and interpretive guide of the results of a young buy with autism for your interest. As you can see it goes into far more detail than labs like great smokies on the gut flora analysis.

This is an excellent overview of the subject by the University of Naples gastro-enterologist. Of the 350 pages 3 relate to diagnosis (it's not the toughest clinical call to make) and the rest amirably cover the pathology, clinical care and treatment of the condition. A welcome addition to the literature on the condition and a boon to any practitioner in the field of gastro-enterology.

I stopped reading "diet" books/articles years ago. Also, I would switch radio/television stations whenever the latest diet guru or health expert came on with his/her latest regime or recommendation. I was so bombarded with information from doctors, health experts and the government about what to eat, what not to eat, what was healthy or not healthy that I just gave up. There was just TOO MUCH INFORMATION!

Dr. John Pollard's book "The Digestive Awareness Diet: You Are HOW You Eat" has changed a lifetime of negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs about food and diet for me. His book is clear and concise and full of information that I understand and can really use everyday. My whole perspective about food and eating has changed.

I wish the information presented in "The Digestive Awareness Diet" had been available to me before this. My mother died of colon cancer when I was in my 20's....the information in this book could have helped her immensely.

I am recommending this book to everyone I know.

Like an old fashioned country doctor, Dr. Pollard offers a simple yet
elegant solution to aches and pains we may have been willing to dismiss.

We have forgotten how to listen to our bodies, which tell us everything
we would ever need to know to be healthy. Dr. Pollard shows us how to do
that in order address a multitude of health problems.

The Digestive Awareness Diet explains in layman's terms the importance
of each organ's function and, like cogs in a wheel, how the organs work
together to help us achieve and maintain optimal health. Regardless of
your lifestyle, dietary preferences or medical condition, you will learn
how simple changes can yield healthful benefits.

I liked it so much that I ordered 20 copies to have in my clinic for clients.

Take this book to your chiropractor or healthcare professional!

I knew a little bit about this stuff before, but never in detail and why it is so necessary for optimal health in the toxic world we now live in. Scott Webb is to the point, thorough and honest about our on going health issues and how colonics can benefit anyone. And how "conventional" medicine once again, misleads people into believing they should be taking a PILL to fix their SYMPTOMS, (a pill that makes conventional doctors & conventional drug companies a lot of money) rather then doing what should be done to FIX the PROBLEM.
A must read for anyone interested in long term health.

This book is excellent for those who are seeking good health. Colon cleansing is the "only" way to go.... but so few people realize that. There are the commercial colonics, administered by a colonic therapist and also the home do-it-yourself colonic board. Years ago, I started having the commercial kind with a colonic therapist but then I bought my own board and did the colonics in the privacy of my home. This book does not go into the "how to" directions for the home colonics but gives you stories of what to expect from a colonic. The stories are great and the author tells it like it is. Two good books for instructional details of beginning home colonics are "Cleanse & Purify Thyself" by Richard Anderson and "Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Managemen"t by Bernard Jensen. Both excellent After you begin your colonics, you want to know what to expect and you need encouragement to continue. This book by Scott Webb becomes your cheering section with his flair for vivid details. So far, I've read the book three times.
Write more Scott. You are an inspiration.
