Robert Barnett's new Tonics (cookbook) is a fasinating guide to foods and herbs we eat all the time. The what, whys and hows of nutrition are touched on, using simple recipes and practical advise. A must have for anyone who ever gets a cold, and dosen't want to run to the doctor. Well written and easy to follow, this book can be your guide to healthy eating and clarify some of the mystery of food itself. I highly recommend this book

This is absolutely wonderful cookbook. Unlike many "healthy" recipe books, this one does not sacrifice taste. There are is an abundance of spicy, sweet, or wonderfully savory recipes in this huge book. The variety is one of my favorite aspects of this book. There are Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian, and traditional English recipes to name a few. Most of the recipes do not require you to buy expensive specialty products or food substitutes. Ingredients are listed by both size and measurement (30ml/2 Tbs), so you may use whichever you prefer. Each recipe contains nutritional information such as calories, fat content, and cholesterol content. When the directions may be complicated, there are pictures showing you how to perform the process. I have tried very few recipes from this book that my husband and I have not thoroughly enjoyed. The only draw back to the book is that the section on sweets is almost entirely devoted to fruit dishes. While these treats are tasty, some cakes or cookies would be nice.

This is a huge cookbook with wonderful step-by-step directions for each recipe. Every single recipe has multiple color photos for the steps of the recipe, and a large color photo of the finished product. There are so many healthy and delicious options, and the Nutrition facts for each recipe are clearly printed. So many recipes from all over the world will keep you busy for a long time...it's well worth the money.

Incredible recipes, easy instructions on cooking Indian and great pictures.
Instruction for making curry powder, chapatis, etc. Cooking Indian is now our favourite pasttime!

Coenzyme Q10 (often abbreviated as CoQ10) is essential for human life. It catalyzes the formation and utilization of energy in every human cell. Fortunately, our bodies manufacture CoQ10. Unfortunately, some people do not manufacture enough CoQ10 to keep them healthy, especially as they grow older. Research has shown that deficiency of CoQ10 is the major cause of cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and other heart diseases and these diseases can often be cured by CoQ10 supplementation. In fact, many heart transplant candidates have no longer needed a heart transplant after supplementation with CoQ10. Now it has been found that CoQ10 can also prevent -- and, sometimes, even cure -- a number of other diseases including some cases of cancer. Please learn all you can about this essential component of health.

Another excellent book on CoQ10 is The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon by Dr. Stephen Sinatra, a board-certified cardiologist, which is also available from Amazon.

Most vegetarian advocates are prone to selective citation of the scientific literature, quoting those studies that support their ethical beliefs, but omitting mention of the science that is contradictory. Sabate's Vegetarian Nutrition does not do this, and is a fair review of the literature. Each area of concern is addressed with a complete review. Does eating meat cause disease or do other factors in the vegetarian lifestyle than abstention from meat confer health protection? Are vegetarians and vegans at greater risk for nutritional deficiencies? Sabate explores these and other questions with thoroughness and integrity.
