I am a new mom of a 9 month old baby. I've been trying to lose my last 5 pounds and found this book to work. I thought it
would be difficult finding time to snack every hour but planning out my food the night before helps and I now have a routine.
I recommend this book to those who wants to lose 10 to 15 lbs.

I invented the term "couch potato." Yet I still managed to lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks using the South Beach diet! I never got
hungry on this "low BAD carb" - "low BAD fat" diet. Also, this book is really informative if you are diabetic or at high
risk for diabetes . It has changed the way I eat. This diet is easy to stick with!

This collaboration by food writer, Page, cardiovascular specialist, Schroeder, M.D., and dietician Dickson, is simple: keep
saturated fat to 25 grams per day and all fat to 75 or less.
The first half of the book describes the plan, and the reasoning behind it and offers quizzes and tables evaluating foods and lifestyle habits.
The system depends on what the authors call 'Fat Tracking,' becoming aware of fats and saturated fats in all the foods we eat. Numerous lists offer alternatives to high-fat foods (i.e., whole grain bread instead of croissant, Canadian bacon instead of regular, angelfood cake instead of donut. They explain the vital differences between oils and how to read labels in supermarkets, choose cuts of meat, and find high-fiber foods.
The second half consists of recipes from breakfast through dessert, with tips for preparation, variations and storage and nutrition information. Recipes include unusual dishes like Eggplant Caviar, Melon and Cucumber Soup, Corn and Polenta Souffle With Cilantro Cream; fat-reduced favorites like Lasagne, various pizzas, and Pork Roast With Prunes; and variations on traditional themes like Grilled Halibut with Tomato Salsa, London Broil Teriyaki, and Walnut Brownies, made with apple sauce and cocoa.

This is an easy read and excellent explaination of how to shop the healthy way. The book explains food additives, chemical
contaminants, pesticides in our food, understanding food labesl, pathogens, processed foods, comparison shopping and organically
grown foods.
It also gives ideas for making nutritious school lunches so that your kids will eat healthy meals when away from home.
If you're trying to eat healthy and want to start buying organic foods, this is an excellent book to buy to begin your journey.

I bought this because I'm finally getting close to my weight loss goal. Yes, I used Protein Power Life Plan for my weight
loss and this book is geared towards low carbers, although I think almost anyone can use it.
It's a pretty simple book. There is an explanation of how you transition from a loosing phase to a maintaining phase, there are examples (taken from their practice) of how others have transitioned and there are meal plans and recipes. Most importantly tho, is that there is a section that allows 365 days of recording your meals, activities, etc.
Well written, easy to understand and great tool. A must for anyone trying to maintain a low carb lifestyle!!

This is the best weight management book on the market.
The book gets right to the most important parts of losing and maintaining a healthy weight without wasting the reader's time. It also does not make the topic more complicated than it needs to be.
Key theme: Calories are still king and small substitutions in your diet will add up over time. Miracle cures and one dimensional programs (low carb, low fat, etc.) only work if calories are reduced.
The book has a lot more to say but it really respects the reader's time by presenting just the facts in a way that is straight forward and up to date. The authors present what proven science says about the topic instead of yet another cleverly designed theory created only to sell the next "Ahaa!!" miracle cure.
The book clears up a lot of confusion associated with the current diet debates (low fat or low carb).
What I liked best:
1. "to the point" format .... most books waste my time with too much verbiage and blah blah. You can read the whole thing in 1 hour.
2. hits all the essentials .... you really do have a solid grounding and plan to follow when you're done with the book.
3. up to date info that is based on research conclusions from major studies - not fads or wild extrapolation from one data point.
Since reading, I've lost about 10 pounds following the suggestions from the book and I've bought extra copies for interested friends and family.
I highly recommend it.

This book is very well written and provided me with a wealth of knowledge on issues relevant to me. As someone who frequently
diets, the information in this book made me more aware of my own acions, and how I can better manage the journey toward achieving
my ideal weight.
I can appreciate how the author provides realistic suggestions toward weight loss, instead of advice like that I've gotten from other books which, although it may sound good in theory, would be difficult to put into practice.
Besides providing lots of information, I found that this book was also easy to follow and kept me interested. So far, I've shared my copy with two of my girlfriends, who'v also appreciated it as much as I did!

If I chose to write a book about losing weight it would be like this one. Robert Seale is my type of guy. Like I tell my
clients, "if I had to tell you the secrets to losing weight, I could write it all down on one little Post It Note". Robert
tells you exactly what you need to know, without all the fluff, and without any magical formulas.
I recommend this book to all of my clients. It's all here in less than 100 pages. Get it, and you'll understand what it takes to lose weight. Don't fall for fancy advertising and pretty faces, just buy this book, and get the job done.
