Not only did I read this book, I took Dr. Miller's class in college. By following his program, I lost 30 pounds in just under 4 months. This is the best diet program I have ever found, and it can work for anyone. Take the first step and get started with Dr. Miller's program.

Providing fat and cholesterol values for thousands of foods (brand-name, generic and natural), this book is remarkably complete in its listings. For readers who need to know such things, it will immediately become a constant companion. At the price, it's a great value.

Finally! A nutrition book I can understand! Bravo to the author for putting this information in such an easy-to-use format! I've searched and searched for the simple facts about good nutrition, but never could get through the long and boring books that are out there. This book isn't going in my garage sale this year! As a matter of fact, everyone I know is getting it for Christmas!

The author considers food and food supplements as the most effective form of medicine. This extensive work investigates the safe use of supplements to combat disease, avoid deficiencies and promote good health. The book contains information and advice on a wide range of topics like hormones, detoxification, allergies, cholesterol, plus the latest research into the nutritional causes of illness and special advice for groups like children, the elderly, vegetarians and sports people.

Section I: Supplements A - Z provides a short description, availability and suggested dosages. This section also deals with related subjects, including amongst the supplements entries for inter alia free radicals, toxins, blood sugar, neurons, neurotransmitters, nitrogen balance and many more. Section II: Nutritional Causes Of Illness looks at diseases from A - Z, under the headings Some Causative Factors and Promising Nutritional Research for each entry.

Appendices I - V consist of the rules of healthy eating (the food groups), recommendations on which supplements to take, official figures (daily requirements), the end to the common cold and a list of useful addresses. The book concludes with an index. The Nutritional Health Bible is a valuable guide and reference work; the information is presented in an accessible and logical manner.

Refreshingly straight-forward approach. No hype, no fad, no short-cuts. Focuses on keeping the weight off permanently. From a real person, not some celebrity that loses the weight, puts it back on, loses it again etc. I like the inclusion of her journal that lets you follow along from start to finish and the changes she went through in the process.

I love this book and have used it faithfully since it came out. The format is unique--more like a daily guide for eating healthier "one day at a time." Claessens gives one recipe each day along with positive messages to make healthy lifestyle changes. She also makes an effort to match seasonal foods to the time of the year. The recipes are tasy and for the most part use readily-available ingredients (try the lasagna-like polenta dish, waldorf salad made with pears and the creme brulee). The index in the back of the book is a must to find favorite recipes again. It took me a while to figure out that a complete list of chicken recipes is under "main dishes" (only a few of the entrees are listed under "chicken"). My book was damaged recently, so I'm buying another asap.

For most people, being diagnosed with candidiasis is like receiving a "sentence" of impending doom to eat bland, flavorless, monotonous foods in order to rid our bodies of the overgrowth of the naturally-occuring bacteria called candida albicans, which many doctors believe is the root cause of many debilitating diseases. For many years, it seems, one would need to endure 6 weeks to 6 months of this monotonous diet in order to regain proper balance between these "bad" bacterias and the "good" bacterias in our intestines - and eventually regain our health and stamina. There has always been a need for recipes to enhance the variety and enjoyment of eating that so many of us desire in order to inspire us to stay on any new diet. Xandria Williams not ONLY provides us with a potpourri of these recipes, but gives a very concise and accurate description of the "Yeast Syndrome", what causes it, what the known symptoms are, and what to do to prevent it in the future. Her writing includes many clinical descriptions, however, she makes all of it VERY easy to understand. The lists of foods to avoid, as well as alternatives to those foods was a huge help for me. Many books just list foods to avoid......with no "alternatives" that would closely replace those foods in our daily diet. I recommend this book to anyone who needs to know more about coping with candidiasis and loves to cook.
