This book takes the guess work out of detoxing and the recipes are straighforward (and taste great, too!). We used a lot of the recipes after we had finished detoxing. Carol Vorderman is straight talking and personable. The book is easy to read, easy to follow and this is a book you'll go back to again and again.

This has got to be the best diet on earth. The recipes are simple and all dietary aspects and restrictions are explained well. I lost 14 pounds in a relatively easy few weeks. I have recommended this to every woman I know who wants to drop a dress size or two. As a benefit (or maybe this should be the main purpose) I felt healthy for the first time in years. If you buy only one diet book ever, make it this one.

What I love about this book is its simplicity. I keep it in my waiting room for patients to read. Each chapter is a habit to change all on its own and can make a difference to how you feel.

What Cyndi does not expect you to do is change your eating habits overnight. In each chapter Cyndi gives you a reason to change a particular habit e.g. drinking water or eating chocolate (yes, eating chocolate). Each habit in and of itself is easy to incorporate into a busy lifestyle and once it has become a habit, well, then you don't have to think about it and you can move onto the next habit to change.

This is a lifestyle book and I have enough patients that have been grateful for the change that I can't help but recommend the book. Increased energy and vitality is more than enough reason to read this book and start making some changes.

Wow! What an awesome book!
Cyndi O'Meara and 'Changing Habits Changing Lives'has indeed been the saviour I was looking for.
Cyndi's simple yet so effective ideas of how to change one bad habit at a time is very powerful. I love the idea that this is not a diet book, but rather a book that explains the basic understanding of food, it's origins and how getting back to basics with food is a healthier alternative to all the so called diet products on the market.
Cyndi's explanations just make so much sense and are so simple that it makes you wonder why food became so complex in the first place!

Outstanding health and nutrition book, easy to read and understand. I followed Dr. Kummerow's suggestions and not only feel so much better, but have actually lost weight while eating all the great foods I thought were forbidden. I wish I'd known all this years ago, but it's never too late to change your diet to maximize your health.

This is a great book. Very well written and easy to understand and really enlightening about the US food production process as well as how to eat healthier and really live a long and fruitful life. There are plenty of great tables to reference as well concerning vitamins and minerals in certain types of food. It's also great to know that eggs aren't bad like once thought and that cholesterol isn't as big a concern. Before this I didn't even know how trans fats were bad, but now after reading it I feel MUCH more informed on the subject and now know what foods to avoid and what to eat more of for a good balanced diet.

Along with all that good information, the book also spans over decades of research and the Author clearly knows exactly what he's talking about. He's 93!!! and still working and exercising! Amazing.

I highly recommend this book to anyone concerned about nutrition and health as well as anyone who just wanted to be informed on the current path to banning trans fats and why certain things are bad for you.

This is a beautifully, compassionately written little book on learning to honor your body, respect your needs, and take care of yourself. Berry teaches self-nurturance in one of the best ways that it can be fully experienced: on a moment-to-moment, daily basis. She encourages readers to take good care of their bodies through regular physicals, nutrition, exercise, massage, hot baths, and more. Included are delightfully sensual and joyous ideas for self-nurturance, and many little quizzes to see where you are in the process of self-nurturance. Extremely valuable for those who have become disconnected from their bodies, as well as for women who have experienced childhood trauma. A wonderful gift for a close friend or a sister. Most of all--for yourself! Highly recommended.

This book is the best book on food combining that I have read to date. Jan Dries makes food combining easy and understandable for anyone who is fortunate enough to read this book. I was able to see and follow the process of digestion with diagrams that were as simple as any I have seen in a book of this kind. It was succinct and to the point not a drawn out treatise on the subject. Would recommend this book highly to anyone interested in food combining or curious about the subject.

I was able to read and understand the process of digestion and adsorption in uncomplicated everyday language. Jan Dries makes food combining easy and fun!

Health through food

While attending a natural therapeutics school in Albuquerque, our herbology instructor brought this book to class on the same day we had to choose a project to do for a 30' herbal talk. Our group of four chose to do a cooking class based on this book. We were all impressed by relevance of food, herbs and health presented by the book. We were also impressed by the photography, which was accomplished by someone who knew what they were doing. And the recipes were relatively simple, which was a real plus for overly-burdened students.
The real payoff, however, came on the day of our presentation. Each group member prepared a different recipe and then discussed the preparation and how the herbs related to health. We also discussed the book, its simplicity and its wealth of information and then served our food to the class.
Each of our dishes, which included a nettle casserole, was an instant hit. The rest of the class were so impressed with the results of our preparations that everyone in the class except one ordered the book for their personal libraries.
Simple recipes, great tasting food, and health. What more could someone ask for in one book?

Here's a beautiful book for your kitchen baker's rack with lots of recipes. Written in an easy to read format, including large, colorful photos of foods, this guide to healthy eating does everything for you but cook the food! This book provides the motivation to try new foods and recipes. It goes even further than just listing foods by categories to tell of their benefits for the body; it lists ailments and the specific foods to eat to combat them along with page numbers of the recommended recipes!

Here are the chapters: 1) Guide to Healing Foods 2) Foods for Common Ailments 3) Healing Recipes 4) Diet in Practice 5) A Guide to the Immune System 6) Superfoods for the Immune System 7) Coping with Common Ailments and 8) Immune Foods in Practice.

Here's a great quote from the foreword that is key: "...diets based on fresh or minimally processed foods, above all wholegrain starchy foods combined with legumes/pulses such as beans, and a variety of vegetables and fruits, rich in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, essential fats, and fiber, and which are correspondingly low in highly processed foods, total fat, saturated fat, sugar, salt, and also alcohol, protect the health of all systems of the body. And yes, this includes the nervous system of which the brain is one part, the source of our thoughts, feelings and beliefs."...

Don't be like so many who are sadly digging their own graves with their forks and spoons! Eat wisely and mindfully. (And I am speaking to myself too.) o8E
Soar!

I have tried several recipes and they were all delicious. The single most important item I learned about is drinking the Nature's Plus Spiru-tein in the morning. I don't crave sugar and don't get the blinding hungries anymore. The "Original Bran Muffin" recipe is the best. I add walnuts and millet and flax seeds to mine.

This is the third Cooking Light cookbook I've bought and I love them all. I was looking specifically for a low-fat collection and this one got my attention because of the "quick and easy" part of the title. The recipes are easy to follow, easy to prepare and so far every one of them has looked and tasted great.

These recipes definately save fat, calories and time. The meals taste great and you don't feel like you are sacrificing on taste. Some recipes do take a little more time than the book states but they are well worth it. I also like that they break down the calories by what percent come from fat. I like the recipe tips offered in the book as well as how the book is broken down by desserts, meatless, fish, etc. This is a winner which I will send to my friends.

The correct title is actually Curing Food Allergies and Common (not "Other") Illnesses!

Wonderful theory and makes sound common sesnse. It is a health discovery - the world's first relating to the food allergy condition - that is approached like a detective story.

Its the author's 30-year search for a solution to his illness, which he linked to foods and therefore found himself being tagged a "food allergic" person.

Wonderful stuff; he says that behind MOST chronic illnesses is low body temperature - not just food intolerance (allergies).

He says that the low body temperature attracts parasitic micro-organisms WHICH ARE TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE!

These parasites lodge in the blood vessels, reducing blood flow at wherever in the body they reside. That causes the symptoms AT THE SITE WHERE THEY LODGE.

As they are temperature-sensitive, and the patient will almost certainly have low body temperature (which equates to ill health anyway), by RAISING the body temperature (through the diet that he gives), the health disorder - and indeed most chronic health conditions - can be overcome!

Excellent and highly original!
