Great book that is written clearly and simply and gives amazing facts as to why people are caught in the food trap. No nonsense approach that can be incorporated into anyone's life. Don't think you have to only drink juices - there is so much more benefit you can get from this goldmine of a book!

This book led to me losing over 50 lbs in weight. It is full of common sense information put forward in an informative way. Of course I trained a lot as well to help me lose the weight but it was Jasons motivation and ideals which really got my mind in theright way of thinking.

You will not take all of it on board but probably the majority.

This book will open your eyes as to what is really going on in the drug food and drink industry. Jason Vale is one hell of an author. He really walks his talk. I for one have noticed changes in my own life. This is a definite must read for anyone that cares what they put in their body. The truth will set you free.

Juice power is a very well laid out book. Lots of great recipes for juicing and healthy drinks. Excellent ingredients and simple recipes. I liked the simple format and easy to read condensed information. Drink the Pina-Colada and sit back with a Positive Prayers CD and you may even hear the ocean waves. Thanks for putting together such a helpful book!

This book will certainly help you do all of this. I have spent a great many years juicing, so am well aware of the benefits. I like how this book uses creativity to make healthy juices exciting and tasty. Anyone who has ever picked up a juice book will adore this one!

But Juice Power for the thirsty soul is not just a juice book; it is jam packed with lively smoothie and shake recipes as well. All of the recipes are easy to make and could easily accomodate a raw foodist by substituting nuts and seeds to replace the soy. We tried all of the recipes in the book and our favorite ones are Ginger Get Well, Tropical Dream, and the Daily Grape Drink. For the sugar aspect of the recipes (maple syrup, honey, etc.) we substituted wild raw agave nectar. Juice Power for the thirsty soul is a real gem. This book has many practical insights. Eating is not just a physical problem but emotional and spiritual. So many programs out there overemphasize the physical and are incapable in addressing other components that cause us to overeat. Actually, no book is the answer but God himself is the answer. We can look to him to satisfy our needs so we don't eat over them. God has used this book as a tool in my life. I love the journaling and praying suggestions and use them almost everyday. Another key has been getting trigger foods out of my house completely. Too much temptation otherwise. I have a total of 175 pounds to lose (I have lost 34 of those pounds since March 2001) and I am confident that the Lord will bring me to goal. I had so much shame before because of the way I was. Now I have hope for a better today and tomorrow. I know there will be challenges along the way, but with these practical tools in my hand, I will will be able to conquer those challenges and learn from them by the grace of God. ...

The Step Forward Diet is an amazing book for ANYONE who wants to finally get rid of the not just the weight but the symptoms attached with being overweight (i.e. the guilt, the shame, the blame). And what's incredible about The Step Forward Diet is it's step-by-step plan for allowing GOD to be the source of strength and power to achieve your desired result. This is NOT your typical weight loss book. The 12 steps outlined in Julie Morris' book are applicable to every area of our lives where God's intervention is needed. Read this book and then allow God to do His job. YOU WILL BE BLESSED!

Dr. Alman's techniques have changed my life. I am no longer living with one foot (or two) in the past. I discovered feelings I didn't know I had. Great things are happening in my life because Dr. Alman has taught me how I can make them happen. What amazes me is how quickly and completely these changes have been effected since beginning to use the techniques detailed in this book. I am now aware of how poorly I'd been treating myself and have gained acceptance of myself. I have no desire for a "quick fix" solution to my weight problem and no desire to resist eating healthily and exercising. The pounds are simply melting away. I know that I am making it happen, but it seems effortless! This book makes the process of shedding emotional weight a breeze to follow. Thanks Dr. Alman!

I was reading the book and nodding my head! How does Dr. Alman know what I'm thinking and feeling?

The book is an easy read filled with great self-hypnosis suggestions that work! I'm amazed how much more in-control I feel -- less stressed. When I'm less stressed out I can look at all the emotional baggage I am/was carrying around. Why carry the past into the present? (The Oceana quiz results are amazingly accurate!)

I truly believe that extra weight is not about food; it's about the heart and the mind. Dr. Alman is very intuitive and skilled at walking the reader down the path to self discovery, relaxation, and elimination of emotional baggage. The breathing techniques work wonders (even in traffic!).

The changes are not just in my weight, but in my entire life and everyday outlook!

Kristen's Easy Raw Vegan Holiday's is a must have. She offers great information about raw foods and tips on how to make it through the Holiday's. Her recipes are amazing and are very easy to make. They don't require a lot of equipment; most can be prepared with a food processor or blender. She has an amazing way of making everything taste terrific that you could easily pass her recipes off without telling anyone they're raw. Her Pumpkin Pie is amazing. I also love her Harvest Soup and Bell Pepper Spinach salad with Rosemary Ranch Dressing. Oh, and did I mention the Rudolph Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Spice Delight cookies and Creamy Dreamy Eggless Nog? The book is worth purchasing for these recipes alone.

Also, check out her other books. They offer such an awesome variety of dishes that are fun to try and easy to prepare that sometimes I forget their raw! What I love most about Kristen's recipes are the use of spices, her variety of soups, dressings and the different ways to dress up veggies. Most of her recipes don't require a dehydrator and she uses more seeds than nuts (or a combination of both). I have quite a few raw cook books and find they use more nuts, require a lot of dehydrating and the recipes take far longer to prepare. I really believe you will love her books as much as I do. Enjoy!

Kristens recipe books are amazing. I have made so many dishes and they always come out great. I have made many cheesecakes and her lasagna and they are always the rave even with non-raw people. I also like the way she sets up her recipes step by step as well as in the intro to raw foods she also ahs a scale to show how much a tablespoon is...like 3 teaspoons and so forth. We love everything we have made so far!

Kristen Suzanne's Raw Vegan Holiday's is loaded with the most fabulous recipes. Her pumpkin pie is out of this world. I am eating the last piece as I am writing this review. Oh excuse me for a minute while I wipe my fingers. YUM!!! I say last piece because my husband and I were eating this last night and watching an old movie. It is a recipe you do not want to share but know that people are going to find out anyway. So I might as well be the HERO. Her recipes are to die for and easy to make. My kids love everything I have made so far. I made the "BOO" Halloween Hummus for the kids at school and they loved it. Then her Oktoberfest Raw German Chocolate Brownines went to my husbands work. The empty plate came back with a note saying, whats for tomorrow? Because it is all so nutritious I don't care if my family eats her stuff all day long. When you go to the store to get the ingredients just take the book with you. You get inspired. Plus the book is beautiful. Its a good feeling to buy a recipe book and love it all.

What a wonderful, practical guide to weight loss. This is not a diet!! It's a guide to change your eating pattern to become a better "you". The book includes formulas to help determine your body fat, mass, and calorie intake. It helps you understand why your body seems to be working against you in those fad diets, and gives you the information needed to over come the battle. It's easy to read, understand, and implement. If you or a loved one has been battling with a weight problem, this would be a great book to buy.

Upon reading "Losing Successfully", I approached it with an open mind, as it was to be different than any other weight loss program that I have tried before. To my surprise, it was exactly that, different. This is not a weight loss program, but a weight management program. Meaning, that this program does not focus on the weight loss itself, but rather the process in which you reach your weight loss goal. This a truly uplifting book to anyone who has tried to lose weight, and just haven't turned down the right road. This program is encouraging, because it does not tell you that there are certain foods that you can't have, but rather a moderation of the not so nutritious foods that you eat, and just an increase of the foods that you already know are good for you.
This book lets you decide what you're feeling and encourages you to write those feelings down, so that you may reflect on your feelings and get to the root of what makes you eat the things, in abundance, that you know aren't the best choices. It ("Losing Successfully") does not tell you what to do, rather it tells you how to do it. Keeping in mind that weight management has to be a way of life, and not a fad to fad trend, I think you'll find this book as uplifting as I did. Remember, "slow and steady wins the race"!! In today's society, obesity is becoming more and more of a problem for young and old alike.I believe that Mr. Platt's book, Losing Succesfully, is going to be a huge success because it covers anything and everything you need to know on how to lose weight. It furnishes the tools, and all we have to do is use them. It's kind of like talking to an old friend who's helping you step by step through the process of losing the excess weight. With so many book's on the market these day's, it is really overwhelming when you do go and try to choose one, which is why I am glad this is the book I chose for myself, and I feel quite certain a lot of other people will feel the same way given the chance to read it. I truly believe it will be a WINNER....

Weight lose starts with modivation, determination, and knowledge about that subject. People try to adapt to different diets and diet pills and fail. Instead of creating a diet plan that is just for them. Losing Successfully focuses on: History of weight lose; Good and Bad eatting habits; Eatting Disorders; Food portion sizes; Setting realistic goals; and Importance of Excersize, to name a few. As you read Losing Successfully you learn to make better choices in the selection of foods you eat. While not giving up the foods you love. Before you know it your losing weight on your terms and not on a diet roller coaster.

Bob Skilnik's book not only gives the lowdown on low carb, but it gives drink recipes that even I, a non-bartender, can follow. Now when I have a party, I can impress my friends with drinks that range from the old standbys to ones they've never heard of--all of which taste great! And for those friends watching their carbs, they're grateful to boot.

The Low Carb Bartender is a book that pulls no punches and gives it to us straight--or on the rocks.

Bob Skilniks' book includes all the info you'll ever need for drinking low-carb. After being on a low carb diet for over a year there is finally a book that specifically tells you the carb count in the all the beers, alcohols, wines, liqueurs, etc. from A-Z.

The book also includes recipes for lc simple syrup, irish cream, etc. as well as many mixed drink recipes.

A lot of time and research went into this book and it's definitely worth its low price. I am so pleased with the book that I ordered four more for Christmas gifts.

I am not a gourmet chef, and I appreciate the simplicity of these recipes. It's nice to make healthier dishes that don't require weird ingredients, or tons of time to make. We have several favorites from the cookbook that we have all the time.

We bought the hard cover version of this wonderful book in 1989. We have worn it to a frazzle, with pages of our favorite recipes now falling out of the book. First, it scientifically lures you into a mind set of better eating habits, and then it gives you excellent recipes by which to get there. We highly recommend it!!!

This book is excellent, even if just for the recipes. I have yet to make something that I didn't like. It takes an average American diet and simply identifies ways to make it healthier. I really haven't had to change my menu or the types of food I eat. I've just made a few alterations. Now I spend less money on groceries, very little time in the kitchen, and I feel so much better about what I'm eating. Plus I'm not on a diet to starve myself or only eat one type of food. I can still enjoy almost everything I like. This book is definitely worth more than the money spent on it. It is leading me to a life of being a lot healthier.

In The New Nutrition, Felicia covers all the topics necessary to understand the complicated field of nutrition. She examines modern research that shows that correct nutrition actively promotes a healthy body and mind. She explains how our choices of vitamins, minerals, supplements and herbs advance this health and how pitfalls in the way we use them cause us to waste money and in some cases lead us to harm the health we so desire. To help us in these choices, she evaluates nutritional products and the companies that sell these products to us.

My favorite chapter is entitled Eating to Heal. In this chapter Felicia sums up the nutritional research on illnesses that, in one form or another, trouble all of us now or will trouble us in the future. She tells readers how proper nutrition and choice of vitamins, herbs and supplements can help relieve Alzheimer's Disease. arthritis, asthma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, heart disease and many other diseases that commonly afflict us. This chapter also discusses the patient symptoms I treat every day: food allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances. Her advice in this chapter alone is worth far more than the price of the book.

Not only does Felicia Busch write clearly and to the point, she also writes with great authority. She is one of America's foremost dieticians and an acknowledged expert in nutrition. She has written numerous articles in major specialty and consumer publications and appeared in over 1000 TV, radio and print interviews. I learned this when I searched for an expert to help readers follow the allergy elimination diet I use in my allergy practice and describe in Food Allergies: The Complete Guide to Understanding and Relieving Your Food Allergies. Her expertise contributes significantly to my book and is readily apparent in her book, The New Nutrition.

Modern nutrition is so complicated and the benefits so positive that people, to gain the health that they deserve, must understand the foods and preparations available to them. No medical care provider can substitute for well-informed people caring for themselves. As they attempt to gain this knowledge, The New Nutrition should be on their bookshelf and its knowledge in their minds. Its reader-friendly words are useful today and will be useful for years to come. My nurses and I find it a valuable resource that we use daily, the reader will find it similarly helpful.

I've read many books on health and nutrition, but this one covers all the bases. It makes the information interesting and applicable. One of the best features is that it includes websites and phone numbers to gather more information on the topics if you so choose. This book really does cover everything about nutrition from A - Z. I especially liked the web links where I could find more information on topics. There were rate-yourself quizzes, easy nutrition tips, and background on scientific studies. This book should be on your shelf and in your kitchen if you're interested in eating right and getting the most from foods and supplements.
