The body is made of everything in the ground, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and legumes(beans). I demonstrate the Vita-Mix Machine, making it possible to gain the maximum nutrition from these foods and therefore, study, from experts, what whole foods can do for the body. Through my studies, there is no doubt that most all degenerative diseases can be prevented, sometimes reversed. Dr. Delgado's book is the most complete approach to living a longer disease free life.

Learn about HGH

Review Date: 1999-08-19
This book is a very informative about the science of anti-aging. Everyone over the age of 40 should read and become educated about HGH--an amazing natural breakthrough for reversing the effects of aging. We can stop many of the ravishing and debilitating effects of old age. I am 48 years old and use HGH. Day by day and spray by spray I feel more energized and vitalized. It is now obvious to me that if your hormones are out of balance your body is not able to repair and regulate itself. Hormone production is very interactive so it can effect the whole mechanism. I highly recommend the human growth hormone for everyone.

Delgado explains complex topics like HGH in simple language.

This book packs a surprising amount of information into short sections you can read in a few minutes. I skipped around a lot, searching for quick answers to things like, Should I take DHEA if I take HGH? and What is HGH anyway? It didn't seem to matter what page I was on - there's a lot of information, so you pick up some useful factoid wherever you land. I would recommend this book for people who know that they "should" be doing more to stay healthy and reverse the aging process, but wonder, What's the next step? How can I create a plan? Delgado makes it sound like you really can do something positive for yourself. Sometimes he takes a break from physical tips and deals with the emotional resistance that may surface as you break old habits and change your lifestyle to healthy. There's a folksy, human quality in this book that makes reversing the aging process sound do-able.

Very easy to understand

HGH is such a critical hormone and everyone needs to know about it. Dr. Delgado has explained this powerful hormone (and all of the other hormones) so that everyone can understand. It truly is one of the most amazing breakthroughs of our time and finally someone is getting the word out. I have had my hormones tested as Dr. Delgado suggested and because of that I found out about a thyroid condition I was unaware of (I always knew there was something wrong but could never find out what). I am taking the oral HGH spray and it has helped me greatly.

An excellent research, study, and reference guide...

I have not had the pleasure of meeting Merrily Kuhn, but I have met David Winston on a few occasions and will say that this book is a treasure. Concise, but detailed it contains explanations and information on current use, traditional use, nutritional ingredients, bio-chemical constituents, dosage and administration, preparation, toxicity, contraindications, side effects, long-term safety, pregnancy/childhood risk, special notes, and references for most herbs and nutrients in use today. It does assume a knowledge of bio-chemistry for constituents, but it is not necessary to use since every constituents is listed with its action if known. I would consider this a necessary addition to any herbal/nutritional/naturopathic study program as it has been a valuable aid in my own understanding and study for my Doctorate in Naturopathy. This book gives a simple, but solid foundation (especially with the bibliography) that can help to give scientific roots to the wonderful healing art of herbalism and deepen anyone's knowledge who wishes to further their study of herbs.

I have now read both books from Dr. Dalzell--Challenge Cancer and Give It To Me Straight. I want to thank her so very much for writing these books, they have answered so many questions I had especially the Give It To Me Straight. Thanks for providing the benefit of your learning and experience to so many of us who, like me, were so confused with all the contradictory information out there on supplements and nutrition for cancer patients. Please keep up your valuable work and website. A Grateful Fan

Impressively written by Kim Dalzell (an award-winning author and doctor with advanced degrees in clinical and holistic nutrition), Give It To Me Straight!: Questions & Answers For No-Nonsense Nutrition is a thoroughly "reader friendly" question-and-answer book that directly addresses common consumer confusion concerning soy products, which foods are or aren't helpful for reducing the risk of cancer, why some sprouts can cause food poisoning and how to best prepare them if one is going to eat them, the inherent problems of various fad diets, and much more. An excellent quick-browse supplement to any nutrition resource shelf, Give It To Me Straight! is a simply excellent fact-filled introductory guide which is especially appropriate for the non-specialist general reader.

Up-to-the-minute little gem

Review Date: 2004-03-15
Dr. Dalzell pretty much covers all of the questions of the day...right up to the concerns about mercury contamination in fish in her "A Healthy Catch?" topic. Don't let the clever topic names mislead you because the content is evidence-based and explained very clearly (and briefly....that's a good thing.) It is very informative and easy to read. You'll like that in answering each of the questions posed, the 'why' is also explained. This book is appropriate for women's health resource centers and would be a good value-added resource to include in nutrition and diet classes. It is a quick and interesting read and promises to clarify a lot of frequently asked questions.

Health Professionals Guide to Popular Dietary Supplements
Helpful Votes: 16 out of 16 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-29
Most health care professionals are very busy and no one has time to sift through all of the dietary supplement information out there. This book takes a look at 69 of the most commonly used dietary supplements in today's market and looks to see if the science is there to prove a supplement works. I feel it is a very clear and comprehensive guide, as it delves into the currently known research on each supplement.

The book never recommends a particular supplement, or denounces one. Rather it gives a scientific view of each herbal, vitamin, or mineral supplement, reviewing the scientific literature to see which claims are substantiated. Each entry is organized with a brief overview of the supplement, media and marketing claims, food sources, dosage information and bioavailability, research, safety information, a summary, and references. For each study reviewed, the book points out any study flaws such as a small number of subjects, or unblinded researchers. The book also explains the confusing arena of current supplement regulations and even includes a reference chapter with listings of websites, associations, books, and other publications useful for more information.

Since it was written with the help of an American Dietetic Association Panel of Experts, I feel it represents a balanced overview of the supplement scene. This book is a great resource for any health care professional!

A Wealth of Information for the Vitamin- Hungry

Review Date: 2000-05-06
Although this book leads you to believe it is only for the health professional, it is very user friendly for the vitamin-hungry lay person. What is really great about this resource book is that it addresses the marketing claims about many supplements that we, John Q. Public, are inundated with, from newspaper and magazine articles or just from our well-meaning relatives or friends who feel free to render a diagnosis and treatment for our lack of energy, immune systems, depression etc. Then for each listed supplement, the author reviews available research and takes some of the confusion out of dosages and whether certain supplements are safe to take with other medications or medical conditions. At last,REAL, RELIABLE INFORMATION backed by a qualified, intelligent nutritionist and the American Dietetic Association. There's a great Summary Table in the back for quick references. Try it. You'll like it.

This book is a great review of molecular biology of neurological disorders. I find the information very pertinent to my field of internal medicine as well as neurology. The information is written in an elegant, often poetic style making use of a sophisticated vocabulary. I cannot rate this book highly enough as a well referenced text for physicians in neurology as well as other medical specialities. I was particularly impressed with the chapter on atherosclerosis and stroke as it related directly to my internal medicine practice. Strongly recommended!

Integrated Medicine for Neurologic Disorders

Review Date: 2008-03-18
This is an eminently useful book for the clinician seeking an integrated understanding and approach to neurologic disorders. Each chapter gives a succinct appraisal of a condition from a biomedical perspective, and then does the hard work of delving into (and making sense of) the mountains of scientific inquiry surrounding it, with special regard to nutrient/herb supplementation. The work is given even more weight by that fact that Dr. Kurn is himself a gifted clinician, with 27 years of experience in his field. Not merely a literature review (which would be welcome enough!), each chapter topic--migraine, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, etc--holds the fruits of his practice. We're lucky to have it.

This is an extremely well referenced book and easily takes its place in the field of integrated medicine.

The authors do a superb job of identifying the how to get the most from your mind. Their suggestions are practical and effective.

I would only caution people to be very careful where you source the recommended supplements. A supplement retailer with more than 4-5 suppliers cannot keep up with the latest innovations. Snake-oil abounds. RelentlessImprovement.com is fast, professional, and offers only pharmaceutical quality fully tested supplements.
