Diagnostic-Imaging Books

The hardware development in Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology seems to have slowed down. We now have equipment that is reaching maturity, or at least slowing down in terms of major breakthroughs. Note that this is the case in hardware. In software it is an entirely different picture. The basic analog signals that are comming out of the MRI sensors may have slowed down in terms of change, but the development of ever more powerful software has not. If anything, the rate of change in the software area has increased rather than decreased.

Consequently books like this one that portend to give an overview of the newest developments have to be written like this one. To keep up with the current trends, this book has each chapter written by a specialist in the particular field covered by that specialist. To anyone working in the area of MR imaging, this book defines the state of the art as it exists today and points the direction that current research is taking the field.

This is not a book for beginners, but for the advanced reader it is indispensible.

Very well planned book, with adequate coverage of most of the pathologies encountered while preparing for the MRCP examination. Substantiated by very good teaching points.

A comprehensive guide to the planning and design of all types of imaging facilities for health care: radiology, MRI, CT scan, PET scan, etc. Clearly written, abundantly illustrated, this book belongs on the reference shelf of any architect working on health care facilities.

I have not found an arthrography book that I thought was good. This book discusses everything you need to know for doing the arthrogram. The book also has lots of pictures with cross sectional anatomy. Great book!

We live in a lateralized universe. Fundamental particles; molecules - including the all important amino acids; and, of course, in our own bodies, handedness and laterality appear to be a universal principle of the manifest world.

The idea that the left hemisphere of the brain is specialized for logic, analysis and language, while the right hemisphere is holistic, artistic and mystical has been circulating for over thirty years. This notion has become so pervasive that it is commonplace to hear people describing themselves as being "right brained", or accusing someone else of being "left brained."

A simple concept that is profoundly wrong.

If anyone needs evidence of the need to transcend the simplistic right/left dichotomy, it is all in this book, which summarizes the essential cooperative functioning of the hemispheres.

Multi-authored books often tend to be patchy, but the editors have succeeded in producing a book with chapters that are all of a high standard and uniformity of style. It is difficult for any book to stay up to date, given the constant generation of new data, but the chapters provide a comprehensive overview up to the end of 2002, including the burgeoning interest in the relationship between disturbances of laterality and some psychological and psychiatric problems, including schizophrenia.

Though this book is designed for specialists, selected chapters would provide excellent jumping off points for anyone interested in the enduring mystery of handedness.

This an excellent reference book on cardiovascular CT with first class teaching points including technique and interpritation.

This is a splendid work for anyone who is interested in headaches and Migraine, the history of treatment, myths, and more. It is illustrated with a wide variety of images from drawings to photographs to films from MRI's and other imaging studies. It's fascinating, and a good book for laypersons and medical professionals alike. Quite a unique book.

This is a book that I recommend. It's very complete and at the same time it's very concise too. Lots of high quality images for the radiologists and a very good written text.

Although the title of this book sounds extremely dry, unapproachable, and cumbersome, this book is a well-organized compilation of every type of unusual looking radiograph for every part of the human body. In my job as an Army physical therapist, I commonly have to screen plain radiographs. This reference has been invaluable to myself and others that work in my clinic, especially when evaluating foot and ankle films. There are several (more than a dozen) accessory bones that may be present, and these are all very well mapped out, each with a radiographic example, explanation, and key points to consider when evaluating each specific view. Excellent reference text!!

This book is the most valuable single US text in my collection. Used every day for both measurements and technique and it seems to cover just about everything! Now we just need an on line version for PACS workstations. I have purchased three copies so far..... bsg
