Diagnostic-Imaging Books

i know how many USA students are study this book. And I will study of medical science and radiology. please i want this book review.

The book is literally 83 pages and is full of useless information that as a technologist you already know. It's got a section of physics that you will never use. It is a waste of money.

I recently started my Pain fellowship and decided to buy a few books to get my learning off on the right foot. This was one of them. I have been completely disappointed with the quality of this text for a number of reasons:
1. There are many editorial mistakes
2. information (images and descriptions) is repeated in multiple sections indicating that rather than writing original content for each chapter or procedure, the same old information was rehashed as filler.
3. Although there are many pictures in this text, the radiographic images are often blurry and not up to par with other atlases.
4. descriptions are often hard to follow and not substantiated with enough new figures or images.

I recently bought the Fenton atlas. Although it is a bit more expensive, I highly recommend the investment over this Raj book which could certainly be skipped altogether!


Addendum March, 2006 - Now that I have completed fellowship I have to amend my prior comments. I do think this atlas has a role in the sense that it is useful as a reference to go back and review procedures that you do not do frequently, but may need to brush up on for a case the next day. As previously mentioned, it is not great for the beginner to learn the techniques and theory as pictures and content isn't the best, but it does have a very large list of procedures described, which is more extensive than other procedural atlases that I've read. So if you already know how to do a procedure and just need a review of landmarks and images, this has a more comprehensive list of procedures described (Headache, facial pain, spine, peripheral, sympathetic, implants) than say Fenton for example.

I thought this book was very first grade level. There were more pictures than explanations. some of the pictures repeated themselves. Some were incorrect. Some were so dark I couldnt see them. There were mistakes in position lableing. For the price I paid , I was very disappointed. I sent it back for a refund. I wouldnt recommend this book to anyone.

This book was unbelievably disappointing. First of all many of the images are blurry. Images of normal animals just have a caption of normal animal--it does not point out any anatomical structures. When there is an abnormal animal, very rarely is the problem pointed out. It is just described in the caption. Secondly-the layout of this book is more like a journal than a text. There are areas where the author uses the first person, and just talks about cases he's seen. It doesn't seem like much research went into this book. There are no references anywhere. The author randomly talks about cases he's seen. Back to images--a lot of space is taken up by photos of vet student holding animals and other irrelevant matter. I was excited when I read the publishers description that animals such as bison, caiman and snakes would be covered. The bison chapter just shows a photo of one in a squeeze chute and a radiograph of a magnet. The caiman chapter has only one case. The snake chapter just shows a 2-headed snake, a king snake with a spinal abnormality and some jaws. The chapters on birds and rabbits have a lot more images, but again nothing is pointed out, they are of poor quality and seem very random. I rarely return books-but this one I just had to. I was disgusted to see it on my desk.
