Diagnostic-Imaging Books

Comprehensive book with excellent illustrations. This is presented as an outline with almost no narrative. The authors have a unique form of indexing which takes some getting used to. Aside from this frustration it is an excellent book with good references.

This is a great indepth technical book for pulse sequence developers as well as for physicists to understand the basics of EPI

This is a pretty good little reference book for those times when you need a quick refresher. It offcourse lacks in details ,but has sufficient info for therapists using PAMs for a while.I won't recommend this for a new grad.

I purchased this book in order to establish an emergency ultrasound program for our Remote Site Medical Services company. The book does not assume any prior knowledge of ultrasound, and thus is a useful reference for our paramedics. It is heavily illustrated with actual ultrasound images for each condition. The focus is on US in trauma (our primary concern) or FAST- Focused Abdominal Survey for Trauma, but also includes various gynelogical and medical conditions which typically present to the ED. There are a couple of drawbacks: this is written as a typically dry medical textbook, and not as a handbook or study guide for a short US program, despite the blurb above. Thus, most of the illustrations are B&W, with most of the drawings that show the outline of the anatomical structures displayed in the US being just simple line drawing. I think more enlightening would have been actual cadaver anatomy photos (See NcMinn's Color Atlas of Human Anatomy) referenced, as well as MRI and CT scan images, to give the student a better grasp of how to correlate US images to actual anatomy.

ABOUT ALL, ESPECIALLY FOR MY DTECTION IN MAY PRACTICE.

I found this book to be very valuable during residency. I believe that it would be impossible to read a major text for each of the radiology subspecialties ie- Resnick for MSK, Osborn for neuro, Som/Curtin for head and neck, and so on. Thus, this text provided a source that was readable from cover to cover during residency while providing more detail than a more basic (but still excellent) intro text like Brant and Helms.

Getting ready to do the |FRCR Part II. Looking for MCQ books. There are many on the bookshelves. Some are very difficult and some too easy. Some are old and do not cover the latest advancements. This book is quite new and is based on Grainger and Allison's radiology textbook which in itself is almost a gold standard for radiologists. If you read the mcq book you really get the extract of most of the relevant information in the 3 volume Grainger and Allison's book. Buy it before it goes out of stock. A must before the exams.

This is a handy reference. It almost fits in my lab coat pocket, but not quite. It goes into differential diagnoses as well as specifics on certain tests. It has many tables that make review easier and is great for teaching.

Short, easy definitions, and a lot of cases. Good for a quick owerview of head and neck radiology

This is only the first volume of a nine volume set. It is the overview of some 50 years of research. Reprints of what the editors have considered to be the most influential of 200 papers on the subject. The original source documents. Invaluable to students of science and history.

All the key papers are here. For example, you can read Rudolf Mossbauer's own words on his research, for which he won the Nobel in record time - just a few years after his papers were published.

Worthy of belonging in a good scientific library.
