Diagnostic-Imaging Books

This is a comprehensive review of a subject always seen as challenging by people involved in Radiology. The authors make a good job in discussing the subject without losing the focus on clinical practice. More recent developments and technologies are included. It requires constant review with multiple readings to assimilate the contents, but it is definitely worth having this book around. A must for residents and radiologists in the MRI field.

I enjoyed this book. It was very informative and had covered all aspects of MRI imaging. I am quite new to MRI and this was a great help in my learning experience. I would recommend it to those who are new to MRI

I'm surprised there aren't more OCT texts out there. I've had this book for quite some time now. It is a great resource with good pictures of fundus images of many disease states and correlates them with FA and OCT images. Often there are pre and post treatment pictures.

It may be outdated soon with some of the newer OCT technologies coming out, but I think the basics and OCT findings presented will not be significantly different.

The focus of the book is definitely on retinal disease although there is a chapter on OCT in management of glaucoma. For retinal disease, it is pretty comprehensive, usually showing multiple examples of any given disease.

I would highly recommend this book for those with an interest in OCT.
My ownly gripe with the book is that I felt that the authors should have developed a methodology for the systematic evaluation of an OCT...similar to how medical students are taught to read a chest x-ray. Oh well.

This book is a more than adequate reference to OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and its' applications to ocular diseases. The principles of OCT is a very good reference for understanding how the technology works. The OCT findings correlated with the fundus pictures and angiogram provide an excellent view of the pathology of the cases reviewed. A good reference to have for glaucoma and retinal specialist.

Useful for pediatric residents. High yield. I would advise flipping through a copy though.

This book was very helpful for board review and preparation. I believe it does live up to its name as a baby book of "Aunt Minnie's". The diagnoses are classic and discussions succinct. The bibliography is also excellent.

One could use this book as a primary learning tool while learning pediatric radiology,but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but a radiologist or a radiology resident. It wouldn't be very helpful for a pediatrician, because the way it is set-up is radiology "boards" style.

I would recommend this book to doctors, patients and families.

This is an excellent book that shows us the great potential of 3D and 4D Ultrasound. The Pictures are of good quality and stimulate a sonographer to fine tune his or her 3D/4D skills.
Worthy Effort!

This book gives a thorought and detailed account into the latest in the imaging modalities that are used in current practice. Having read this book, it also provided good clinical background information into the modalities. A good buy for the budding technologist who is on to do specialized procedures in the later part of their career.

The book describes a wide range of recent research and applications in the area of ultrasound but also some other modalities. This is a good book for somoene who would like to explore the new advancements in this areas.

I am apreciating very much this book. It brings very new information on many different topics. Its content showld be rated with 5 starts, but the quality of edition with 3 stars. There are some bad quality figures (like the ones on pages 31, 514 and 515) and also some words that can't be readen in the text due to bad printing.

Biomedical applications of light are expanding dynamically. This handbook does a good job of organizing a mass of information on dozens of cutting-edge technologies. The articles by leading experts are aimed at professionals but do not, in most cases, require specialized knowledge to understand. The clear graphics appropriately support the text, while the chapter bibliographies are extensive.
So this handbook can be recommended to any scientist, medical doctor, engineer, or graduate student in this or related fields.
However, this book suffers from certain flaws that it shares with many other English-language books in this field. Scientists in Russia and other East European countries are very competitive in certain areas of biomedical photonics. They lead the world in the centrally important field of low-intensity laser therapy (LILT). Yet the book's discussion of biophotonics and its almost totally monoglot bibliographies do not come close to incorporating their findings.
Even the sole article on LILT states that it will not discuss whole body responses to this therapy. Why not? They are very relevant in a handbook of this sort.
What's more, this article omits any mention of Biophotonic Therapy (Photoluminescence, Quantum Hemotherapy), the treatment of the blood with a low-intensity laser via an intravenous waveguide or, in extracorporeal mode, with UV and visible light. The reader would never learn from this handbook that thousands of practitioners throughout the world use Biophotonic Therapy every day for a wide range of indications. The mechanisms of BT are well characterized, and more than 400 scientific articles and a dozen books are devoted to BT's clinical track record.
These are unfortunate omissions in an otherwise admirable handbook.

It is a very good reference for those interested in MSK radiology. However, as all medical books in the last 2 decades, it is too expensive for third world countries radiologists and should be thinked for a low priced edition to help a lot to have the original book and resist photocopying.
