The book is fantastic. It is well laid out in a logical and easy to follow fashion. The format focusses on differential diagnoses to radiological patterns - i.e. a practical clinical approach. The images are clear and all relate to clinical cases. I would go as far as to say that this is a "must-have" for any pulmonary fellow in training - there are few books which are as high yield as this one. Could not have asked for a better investment.

This is a great book for anyone interested in chest radiology or pulmonary diagnostic challenges. Dr. Miller has chosen excellent cases to illustrate a broad range of chest pathology. Moreover, the book is pitched toward to clinician. I read the book cover to cover in preparation for the pulmonary boards and enjoyed it throughout. Dr. Miller should be commended for producing such an informative and accessible chest radiology text.

This is absolutely the best book for chest radiology. The size is a little intimdating at first, but it reads quickly and is filled with incredibly useful descriptions and differential diagnoses. It is straight-forward, and makes learning Chest Radiology a lot easier. I wish they had books like this for all sections of radiology. This book is ideal for residents and fellows, or really ambitious med students.

Interventional procedures for the body imager as well as interventionalist.
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2005-09-29
This book is weighted towards the interventional radiologist however topics and procedures for body imagers/general radiologists would also benefit. Each procedure is covered in detail from indication, preparation, procedure, complications and post procedure information. Also covered is relavent pharmacology for the radiologist including managing contrast reactions. The size is small enough for a jacket pocket and the text is clear and concise.

An excellent, concise manual of common procedures

Excellent Pulse Sequence Refrence
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-05
This book is an excellent overview and reference for MRI pulse sequences. It has been recommended to me as a reference by several scientists, and anyone who works in the MRI field should consider buying this book -- even if you are not a pulse programmer, this book will give you a much better understanding of different sequences and which one may be most appropriate for your research application. It does a good job of describing sequences in a qualitative as well as mathematical manner.

One slight problem with the book is that it is oriented towards just MRI physics, and thus if one wants to sit down at an actual scanner and try to program or implement the sequence, one might not have enough specific details about hardware-related issues (such as gradient duty cycles, RF power calibration, SAR, memory allocation, etc) to actually implement a sequence. Thus, the book is best supplemented with a review of current literature, as well as manufacturer documentation or examples of previously written pulse sequences.

Great MRI Book

I tried the green book but found it didn't cover the pulse sequence development to a depth that was acceptable to me. This books covers pulses in such a way that it's invaluable if you're developing or rewriting any MR sequences.

Best chest imaging reference
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2008-07-31
Just the best reference book on chest imaging. Lots of useful boxes, great emphasis on differentials, good pictures in all modalities. I'd like to see more histology pics on the edition. I'm a fan of Nestor Muller's books, but this one is superior to his recent release (Expert Radiology Series). For a resident I'd recommend Webb and Higgins' book. Hansell's text is quite easy to read but it's too long for a thoracic imaging rotation. I recommend it for thoracic imaging fellows and someone who wants a more in-depth text.

The best single-volume chest radiology book.

Review Date: 2002-07-05
If you've seen the second edition, this edition is a big improvement, with much better coverage of CT and MR. It's an excellent book both for radiology residents and practicing radiologists, who are looking for a single-volume text which is both readable, and sufficiently comprehensive to use as a reference. Top-notch.

I have read this book twice. Its a spectacular overview of Neuroradiology, especially since it emphasizes DDx. The fact that you constantly compare between the approx. 1200 cases in order to understand the DDx, really reinforces memorization and understanding.

I have used this book and its previous edition for several years now. It is a classic and a must have for radiologists doing CNS MRI, especially general radiologists. The illustrations are excellent, the text clear and to the point and the cross references between cases are most helpful. When reading a case, this is the first book I pick up for help (there are 7 other books in my office)and generally the only one I need. I recommend this without reservation.

I have used this book for reviewing cases in prepartion for neuroradiology and neurosurgery. It offers a wonderful discourse on differential diagnosis for various aspects of neuroradiology and various CNS disease states.
The text is rich with detail and focuses on the most important aspects required for remembering the pathology. The text is also extensively and internally referenced where additional cases can easily be looked up in order to jog one's memory of former pathology. I would highly recommend this text, as others did to me, for aspiring neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists. This text is truly multi-functional as it offers a wonderful integration of neuroradiology, pathology, clinical presentation, and epidemiology.

Best Body CT Book to own

Review Date: 2008-03-23
I have bought multiple copies of this book, for the four hospitals that my group covers. This book is well organized and beautifully illustrated. The tables of differentials are very helpful. This book is more comprehensive than theFundamentals of Body Ct (3rd Edition), although both are commendable.
The other books are more costly and encyclopedic.

I have read all of the classic radiology textbooks ever written. This is the best, most concise textbook covering chest, abdomen, and pelvis CT that you will read. I take it with me wherever I go. Absolutely indispensable. I would pay $2,000 for this book, which proves why it is no longer available. The book manufacturers, who certainly are not practicing radiologists, make decisions about books for the rest of us.

As an ultrasonographer and a reproductive geneticist I have found this to be an indispensable tool. The explicit listing of the relevant protocols, key facts, and differential diagnosis are extremely helpful in a clinical setting. The illustrations are educational and I have found it particularly helpful that there are at least several different views/images of each condition discussed. Highly recommended for anyone who does obstetrical ultrasound or prenatal diagnosis. This book and the one by Callen Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology are a must!

I was seeking for the holy grail for a long time, and I found it !
This book is really good. Each topic has the same outline and it provides only the information you need. No clinical trials, no research article. In fact, it is only what you need to know when you are doing an ultrasound examination, when you have to make a decision for your patient and when you have to answer her questions.
As the author said...this book is the biggest slide show ever made !
I highly recommend this book
