We are using this book and Vol. 2 & 3 as well for quick reference.
I would recommend this book to new students for cross sectional anatomy.
Even the seasoned technician needs a quick reference book from time to time.

An excellent pocketbook review of anatomy to use in studying for Boards or CT exams!

Anatomic atlas for body imaging
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-21
Organized into chest, abdomen, pelvis and MR angiography of the lower extremity, this book is excellent in junior residents to learn multiplanar anatomy. The MR images are T1 weighted with schematics of normal anatomy and quality is excellent. CT images are provided in the axial plane are equally good. Also covered is basic MR angiography of the chest, abdomen, and lower extremities.

This book is a worthwhile investment for those considering anatomic atlases for a nominal cost. Highly recommend this book.

Very well written...everyone in this field should get it as a reference source..
Physics and clinical applications are explained..Each chapter has its own author who is (probably) specialized in that field

Classic work updated

This latest edition of the classic text on PET by the late Peter Valk and co-authors is an excellent update, with improved chapters to include PET-CT. PET-CT was just coming to the fore at the time of the first edition, and it has revolutionzed medical imaging. This is, in my opinion, the best single textbook for clinical PET and PET-CT imaging I have seen. I'm glad the publisher has broken the book into two volumes - the first stressing physics, PET pharmacology, and equipment design, and the second (this one) stressing clinical work. Both are excellent, but many radiologists will find the clinical text meets their needs, whereas nuclear medicine professionals and interested radiologists will want both.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is involved in interpretation of clinical PET or PET-CT images.

Excellent but out of date

This is a very good reference book but unfortunately PET books are out of date quickly and this book's publication date in 2003 means it mostly misses out on PET/CT. It is still a worthwhile book though but combine with newer books covering PET/CT like PET and PET/CT (Lin and Alavi) and Atlas of PET/CT (Phelps et al).

The textbook explained technical concepts in a manner that makes it "easier" to understand. I am currently a Diagnostic Medical Imaging student. I use this book multiple times as an additional reference and review for my other core classes.

This book is very detailed!!!

If you're looking for a very informative yet fun to read book then, you should have to consider to buy this one. Most specially if you're a radiologic technology student. This book provides the information you just need in a radiography curriculum, to increase your deeper understanding of radiographic imaging (the best when preparing for licensure exams). Also consider to buy its Workbook to test yourself and to see how much you really understood the content you have just learned in the accompanying textbook.

I would like to thank the authors for this excellent book for basic MRI, Really it is very simple for the complicated MRI terms, helpful for both technicians and beginners radiologists in the field of MRI.

A big drawbacks must be considered in the aftercoming editions .. the photos quality is not so good and the font size is too small.

Thanks alot

This book is a must for any MRI technologist.
Carolyn Kaut Roth explains things in "english" so you understand.
If you have ever been to her confrences you know what I am talking about. If you have never been, I suggest you go even if you are not an MRI tech, she is GREAT!

Outlines in Radiology...that is all
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2007-01-04
For a superficial text as this, it is more useful for the clinician peripheral to radiology, such as a surgeon, medical student, orthopedist, neurosurgeon, or emergency medicine specialist.

Outlined by subspecialty, relevant anatomy and pathology are presented in a list format. Rudimentary illustrations are provided. Differential diagnoses are provided for imaging findings. The book easily fits in a lab coat.

For the radiologist or resident, this book has limited value for expanding knowledge. I would only recommend this as a supplement to a real textbook - even for a medical student rotating in radiology, there are better alternatives.

This book has limited utility for the written and oral boards.

Not recommended for radiologists or residents in radiology. It is suitable for anyone else desiring some quick read in a rotation or cursory survey of the field without a large investment in time.

Excellent book for the price

Two things are noteworthy about this book: the excellent black-white illustrations and quick review over common radiology questions. The book is divided by radiology sections, and usually start off with simple anatomy pictures and labelled illustrations of the relevant modality. This is very nice, since many radiology texts do not bother to show examples and illustrations of relevant anatomy. The illustrations are also much more valuable then looking at an atlas like Netter's, since only important radiological structures are drawn. The lists of differential diagnoses are good, though they require you to already what each diagnosis is. I don't find that a problem considering the size and scope of the book.

You do not need lots of pictures to learn radiology!

This book is a great way to start getting acquainted with Radiology. It gives a good background on some technological facts and a useful coverage of specific pathologies that you need for differential diagnosis. Emphasis on background knowledge can be more helpful for learning in radiology then simply looking at radiology picture examples. This is a great book for medical students in their last 2 years of uni!

Simple and Precise

Review Date: 2003-05-23
All that matters here is simplicity and precision. As the title says, Radiographis Positioning and Related Anatomy. You got what you expected: all radiographic positioning (almost all) and related anatomy (enough for x ray procedures but you really need anatomy book by your side)
I highly recommend this book for reference but additional facts should be close at hand for further referrals. The Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy in the National University of Malaysia gives this book a definite thumbs up. I believe many universities do the same.

I have been an xray technologist since 1984. And I thought I knew everything about taking a chest xray...well, I did, back then. My department purchased this book last month and it is an eye opener! I read things in this book that I didn't know or had forgotten. The pictures are great, information priceless. If you are an 'old salt' like me or just a 'young pup' starting out, I highly recommend this book. You'll keep it with you throughout your career.

Good Reference for X - Ray techs.

Review Date: 2001-07-26
If you're an x - ray technician and continually do the same old procedures over and over again such as chest or back x - rays (like I do), you may become rusty on other procedures. If the dr. orders a jaw series or knee sunrise, your mind may draw a blank image of what he's talking about. I always have this book handy in my darkroom in case of these "emergencies". Once I look at the photograph/illustration and the FFD - it all comes back. I set the patient up and take the shot and run it through the processor; it always turns out right (so long as this text is with me).

World's Easiest Ultrasound Learning Material
Helpful Votes: 19 out of 20 total.
Review Date: 2000-09-13
If you are looking for some sort of "Ultrasound for Dummies", this is it! Forget about all difficult and thick physics and theories. If you open up this book, nice pictures of actual scanning with clinical images will be served for you. Instead of imagination how you get these images, you really can see how you have locate and move your transducer to get the images which is very important to make a diagnosis.

I had a chance to discuss with one luminary doctor about easy ultrasound learning material. This is the book which we have chosen for.

Very practical and benefitial for your study or daily practice.

Other benefit?

"It is very handy" ^^

A good addition to neurovascular atlases
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-12-14
Initially, this book appears to be confused about who exactly its readers are. It would have been safe for the authors to surmise that, anyone interested in it would have at least a high school and most probably college level education, if not more. Therefore, the explanation of 'catheter' (long hollow tube), 'percutaneously' and 'femoral artery' (groin) were a bit irritating. It is unnecessary to write an atlas in the same fashion as explaining a procedure to a lay person. The first 3 chapters are superfluous. There are many anatomy books and atlases which cover the subject far better. The text and figures in these chapters are not the reason I would recommend this book to anyone. This space would have been better used by providing simple practical tips pertaining to 3-D angiography. In fact, these would have been much appreciated by the readers who most likely are interested in, or are practicing angiography and interventions.

The atlas becomes fun to go through from chapter 4 onwards. The thoughtful provision of 2D and 3D angiography in similar projections does enhance knowledge of neurovascular anatomy. Conveniently, the key used with the images remains consistent throughout the book. However, some proof reading prior to publication would have been in order, since occasionally the key text for a number is missing. However, this is only a minor flaw and does not really detract from the atlas. The presentation of information predominantly pictorially, proved very useful in rapidly acquiring/refreshing knowledge of neurovascular anatomy.

Unfortunately, the last chapter (circle of Willis) also seemed to fail the purpose of an atlas. It was all text, without any accompanying images. It would have been been better to have had images depicting the common variations, rather than providing two and a half pages of text and stating that images of components of circle of Willis could be found throughout the book. On the positive side, a few practical tips e.g., for visualization of basal perforators and evaluation of fistulous connections, are provided in this chapter.

Considering there are not many atlases specifically dealing with 3D neuroangiography, this one is a useful addition and worth acquiring.

First 3D angiographic neuro atlas

You must notice that is not a 3D pictures book. It is what is displayed in the cover.
I wanted a 3D images book (with 3D glasses, etc), so I was a little disappointed and surprised at the same time.
We were traditionally trained to see angiographic images( 2D images), but not 3D perspective.
It is a new point of view for neurosurgeons like me who were trained in the carotid puncture angiographic era.
I understand now, that I must read it, because angiographic studies come in this format now, and we have to get used to it.

This book is an extremely helpful tool for all who would like to know more about MRI, I'm just an A-level physicist and it proved a fountain of knowledge, though it does tend to deal with the maths (I'm English) by ignoring it (though I hate maths as much as any normal person). On the whole a very informative useful read.

A very well organised and profusely illustrated text which provides information on anatomy as related to and conventional radiology and more sophisticated radiological forms of investigation like the magnetic resonance imaging. First year residents would find the book useful as it provide the basic anatomic knowledge needed in making diagnosis. This book is a must for radiologists!
