Concise, and image intense discussions are to the point yet encompass all necessary details. Excellent resident review book and excellent for the generalist in practice. Highly recommended.

I have NEVER had a more useful text in my office!! Gives a clear approach to common and often complex problems faced in outpatient and inpatient medicine. Includes topics such as thyroid nodule, hyponatremia (and other electrolyte abnormalities), elevated transaminases, fatigue, chronic diarrhea, constipation, solitary pulmonary nodule, mediastinal adenopathy, and really anything else you can think of!! I have never not been able to find what I needed quickly and easily. A must have for an busy office when you need to know what to do without all the peripheral talk!! I wish they had continue this series in Peds and OB/Gyn (there are old ones in these fields)as they were just as valuable!! An investment you won't regret. Great for residents!!

A must-have for those working with deformable models and segmentation and tracking of non-rigid dynamic objects. It consisits of three sections, Background, Segmentation & Reconstruction, & Motion Analysis and Tracking. Each section begins with a review article followed by a collection of scientific papers by different authors on the subject.

An incredible book by one of the top chest radiologists. Great addition to the Diagnostic Imaging series. Definately a must-have resource for every radiologist. Five stars.

This is a very good, understandable text that gives rehabilitation professionals an excellent introduction to the world of diagnostic imaging. The DVD that accompanies the book is the very best I have ever seen and greatly improved my understanding of reading x-ray films. This publication is a real winner!

This is by far my favorite ultrasound textbook. It breaks everything down by organ, gives a full discription of "normal anatomy" and then further breaks it down by disease process. Each disease process gets its own heading and has a 2-5 page detailed explanation. The book gives information about clinical presentations, symptoms, correlating dianostic imaging test results and, best of all, has TONS of images!!! I have never seen a book with higher quality images before. And there isn't just one for each abnormality, there are several! The explanations are neatly organized and easy to read. They even put a "What you really need to know" type box at the top so if you're lazy you can just read that. Everything is covered that one would need for the abdominal board exam, obscure small parts included. The ONLY thing this book doesn't have are quiz questions, so if you're looking for exam practice look to Lippincott's review book.

These guys made a tough subject very "readable!" The language was technical but not inhibiting, and the illustrations corresponded well. Good job, Ted.

This book is a good mix between overview physics for the clinicians and details for ultrasound researchers. It has been invaluable to me for teaching the residents the physics behind non-linear harmonic generation and contrast agents (Chapter 12 and 14) for example. It has good images and examples showing the advantages of harmonic imaging and imaging with contrast agents over standard fundamental imaging. It has also been good for research details with equations and has a comprehensive set of references -- helpful for doing research in the area. In summary it has a intuitive physics and detailed equations -- therefore works for a wide range of people.

This is another one of those must have items for anyone who works in the nuclear medicine field. I find myself constantly referring to it. The first section contains a dictionary of medicine and nuclear medicine related terms. Very useful for figuring out some of those really obscure acronyms or alien medical words. The second section is an invaluable reference library of all things radioactive and radioisotope related. Particularly useful is the section on radiopharmaceuticals. Organized by radioisotope, it lists the most common pharmaceutical forms each radioisotope is used for, and gives the form, uses and dosages for most.

Unfortunately, according to Amazon, it appears to be out of print, and my edition was published in 1990, so newer imaging agents aren't covered. Still a valuable resource for the bookshelf of every medical/health physicist, radiologist and technician.

This is arguably the most didactic textbook on image differential diagnosis in children. On the other side of the Atlantic, Swischuk and John's version is probably more encyclopedic, but definitely not clearer, than this one. In fact, these two books complement each other well. Ebel has summoned a superb group of German radiologists and teachers, and the result is this brilliant and thorough job. Not only its format is very readable but also the information is pragmatically presented in tables and sustained with outstanding photographs. In fact, the images are the strongest side of this book. Being printed and bound in Germany with excellent materials, the pictures are abundantly clear and well chosen. It has several measurements and calculation charts that I also found of invaluable assistance. In sum, it is hard to find any downsides to this excellent book and, given that diagnostic imaging is affixed to clinical pediatric diagnosis these days, its content is really on diagnostic pediatrics and thus will be essential to anyone involved in pediatric care.
