Diagnostic-Imaging Books

Vascular anatomy has always been the bane of the junior resident. This text is organized by organ system covering vascular anatomy of the head and neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. Each chapter is preceded by text describing important anatomic relationships.

The neuroradiology images include MR and DSA images. Angiographic images are supplemented with very nice illustrations similar in style to Dr. Netter.

Also covered are anatomic variants of vascular anatomy which is very useful. This text is invaluable to the the diagnostician, in addition to the interventionalist. This book is worth a look!

The illustrations alone make this a worthwhile buy, whether you're a gastroenterologist or just extremely interested in colonoscopies. Ever since Katie Couric's live colonoscopy on TODAY, I've been intrigued by the procedure, considering it something of an art form as well as an intrusive medical procedure. But Abraham Dachman and his team of writers make a compelling argument for the use of Virtual Colonoscopy in lieu of long tubes, nano-cameras, and liquid barium. It's a brave new world.

I used this handy reference in school, and it not only helped me to get excellent grades but it also is what I consider a needed reference for the American registry exam for radiologic technologists. This book covers quite thoroughly the section on Patient Care for the american registry exam. I was also recommended a few other books from someone who previously took the american registry exam and passed.

"The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography:Key Review Questions and Answers" by Leonardi (Volume1) (Volume2) and (Volume 3). These books had all the questions and answers one needs to make sure they know before taking this test. I know because they helped me to pass.

This book has all the pearls of body CT.
A lot of tables, images and key points can be found in the book which make it a great review tool before the tests.

As a radiology resident in a very busy county hospital, I have all that I can do to keep up with the workload, much less find time for academic reading. Prior to the 1999 in-service examination, I read the ACR syllabus and Cardenosa's "Breast Imaging Companion."

The combination of these two texts served me well, as I scored in the 100th percentile on the breast imaging section. Cardenosa's book is concise, filled with both "classic" and atypical images. It is a rapid read, while maintaining a reasonably comprehensive level of dialogue.

I would reccomend it to anyone learning mammography for the first time and, furthermore, I would recommend that you keep it nearby, as you will refer to it frequently for troubleshooting in this difficult field.

well made with a fantastic amount of pictures. A great help when you have to start breast MRI from scratch.

Sure textbooks are necessary, but most people learn best by practical problem solving which is what this book provides. The basics are well covered in teh text, however the strength of this text is the DVD which gives rapid access to actual clinical studies. The MRI is presented, not as a few static images but as beating hearts - moving away from the staid static textbook we used in school and toward a dynamic view of what the clinical imager sees everyday when they do cardiac MRI. The important clinical questions are answered through the cases, in which you are given a history and then view the cardiac study and make your diagnosis. The answers are available with clear detail and tie in with teh text of the book. Finally a book that moves from overly complex theoretical physics of the proton, and this is how you "could" do it, to a practical, clinically orientated multimedia teaching approach based on how clinicians doing cardiac mri work every day.

I used this book to study for Diagnostic Imaging section of Part 2 of the national boards. It helped me greatly. Film technique, development and x-ray setup were explained deeply. I also found the following as reference:

This study guide had great review questions that helped me to test myself before taking this board. Both books are very good.

I'm a brazilian medical student and about 2 years ago I was recommended this book from a Pediatrics Professor, long after his classes were over I still insisted on buying it and didn't regret. It's contents are more than excelent as well as the format of the book itself. Loads of pictures, loads of colors. Simply Fantastic!
