Hats off to Doris Cross! She's produced yet another spectacular cookbook! The recipes in this book are absolutely delicious, easy to prepare, and don't require bizarre ingredients. The taste is sensational; you think you're eating high-fat dishes when you aren't! The dishes are simple enough for everyday fare, yet elegant enough for a dinner party. Of the many cookbooks I've purchased since being diagnosed with diabetes, the ones by Doris Cross are far and away my favorites!!

Mama mia, is this good food!

Since I love Italian food and also need to eat in a balanced manner, I was delighted when I saw this cookbook in the library. It was everything I expected and more! The diabetic exchanges are clearly listed as well as the exact grams of carbo, protein, fat, sodium, and cholestrol. I tried two of the recipes, Garlic and Parmesan Chicken with Pasta, and Shrimp and Crab Stuffed Shells. The recipes were easy to follow and the taste was magnificent! I was amazed at the rich flavor and beauty of the dishes. I think this book would be helpful for anyone who follows the Zone Diet as well as diabetics.

I had gestational diabetes and needed a cookbook that would meet my dietary needs. I bought my copy from a bookstore and loved the recipes so much I bought this one for my sister-in-law since we're trying to eat healthy together. I have continued to use it after my pregnancies and love the simplicity of the dishes. They are easy to make, tasty, and have all the nutrition facts for each recipe. I especially love the Mexican-style Turkey Soup and the Cocoa Snickerdoodles!

Really great book!

This cookbook has incredible mouth-watering photos of the food which I love in a cookbook. It has easy to make recipes that actually taste great too. I liked the variety of the food in both ethnicity and flavor. It also has a good mix of comfort food and gourmet. It covers breakfasts to dinners, slow cook to instant - its all there. Enjoy.

This second updated edition of a diabetes fact book packs in nutrition details as did the first - with a difference. It updates common questions and answers diabetics have about best eating routines for diabetes control, provides both a review of basic nutrition facts and a survey of diabetes-specific issues, and provides not short but good-length answers to potentially confusing questions such as 'can I eat anything marked sugar-free?' An excellent survey recommended above the prior edition for its detail and further depth.

Healthy cooking that looks great and tastes wonderful.

When we found out my husband was diabetic the first thought we had was "so much for gourmet cooking". My husband since he retired has taken over much of the cooking, but it has been a chore to find delectable recipes that look and taste good. The Favorite Brand Name Diabetic Recipes cookbook has dispelled that myth. The recipes are colorfully displayed and are easy to read. The print size is not so small that you need a magnifying glass to read them. All of the nutritional information is easy to understand; nutrients per serving and dietary exchanges. I was also pleased that most of the ingredients are usually on hand saving us those trips to the store for just one item. Eating healthy has never been easier. Also lots of recipes satisfy my gourmet cook husband's need for exotic unique meals to create. This cookbook is a must for anyone wanting great recipes that are healthier eating.

Great Diabetic Dishes!

The recipes are based on natural, whole foods including fish, herbal sweeteners and legumes (beans, peas and lentils). The foods used are known to help stabilize blood sugar. Using the recipes in the book, the authors have put together a list of meals, each containing about 450 calories. While the recipes have been designed for diabetics, they would work well in anyone's diet.

This book is great for sugar-free recipes. There are a TON to choose from....I have only made one so far (apple turnovers), and I am very excited to try more.

The recipes usually use healthier things like whole-wheat flour, which I really enjoyed. I also really like that after each recipe, the author tells you the calorie count and other nutritional information about the recipe (as well as diabetic exchanges).

The recipe that I tried tasted fantastic, and as I said, I am excited to try more. The book contains a very wide variety of recipes. I am a very picky person, but I found at least 15 that I plan to try at some point.

This book was wonderful. I really appreciated the authors writing it for people who are diabetic. Coming from a diabetic family it is often hard to understand the diet restrictions and exchanges that many cookbook feature. It has been comforting to have a cookbook I could understand. The recipes have basic ingredients that are found on most shelves. Even if you are not diabetic, you will enjoy the healthy and lovely to look at meals. Thanks!

This cookbook is great for anyone who wants healthy, simple, and delicious Latin food. The book offers recipes from various regions too. The layout is smartly put together as the Spanish and English language versions are next to each other on a two page spread. I've tried several recipes and all have been very good. My mother, who is diabetic, is happy to have new ways of preparing some of her favorites. Highly recommend.

This book, along with "Prediabetes: What You Need to Know to Keep Diabetes Away" by Gretchen Becker, is an excellent resource for someone newly concerned and rightfully a little alarmed about her/his blood glucose level testing above normal.

One of the first questions one might have is "What should I eat to prevent diabetes?" In this total life plan, which includes practical advice for weight-loss and exercise--the two imperatives of prevention, Woodruff and Saudek also provide two weeks of menus and 150 superb and healthy recipes that are easy to make.

I have served many dishes to guests who just thought I had made a terrific meal. They had no idea the recipes were from a diet book. Some tasty examples are Grilled Tuscan Tenderloin, Slow-Cooked Sicilian Pot Roast, Scallops with Peanut Sauce, Salmon with Roasted Plum Tomatoes, Cherry Bavarian, Cinnamon Peach Crisp, Dilled New Potatoes and Peas, Crab Louis Dip, Double Bran Muffins, Toasted Muesli and Citrus Vinaigrette. These have all become favorites in our menu repertoire!

My husband and I have both lost several pounds in a few months with these recipes/menus. Sandra Woodruff's other cookbooks are great too. And, don't forget the exercise. We are also walking 35 to 45 minutes every day. Making time to exercise daily and eat right is a better choice than sliding blindly into what could become a debilitating and life-threatening disease. Buy both books and start taking back your life.
