Diabetes Books

I do not have a functioning thyroid gland due to radio active iodine obliterating my gland - a proceedure i needed to have - to destroy the pre-cancerous nodules which started growing. I was told back then - 30 years ago - that i needed to take synthroid for the rest of my life. however, taking that little pill daily has not always paved a smooth road for me, as often i have health issues with my thyroid and my TSH numbers are often way out of whack - anyway, having to deal with hypothyroidism for most of my adult life, i see a doctor regularly and i also appreciate reading good, informative books about the thyroid. i found this book to be just that and have added it to my library and would recommend it to others.

Just after turning 50, I had a sudden, unexplained weight loss that turned out to be Type II diabetes.

This book is one of the best I've read as an initial overview of the disease and how to cope with it. Its clear and concise, providing adequate--but not too much--information in plain language.

If you've recently been diagnosed with diabetes, I strongly recommend this book as a beginning point in your education. Its 10 bucks well spent!

No practitioner of Chinese Medicine, particularly of Chinese Herbal Medicine, can afford to be without this book. It is methodically laid out with an extensive introduction to Diabetes from the perspectives of both Chinese Medicine and Industrial Medicine (a.k.a. "Western Medicine" for no discernibly rational reason).

From then on each chapter deals with the treatment of Diabetes, firstly from the general standpoint of Chinese Differential Diagnosis, and then by other diseases that often accompany Diabetes such as hypertension, gangrene, retinopaty, etc., etc. Each of these chapters follows the same format: an introduction to the disease via Industrial Medicine mechanisms and differentiation; an introduction to the mechanisms and differentiation by Chinese Medicine; treatment of the disease by Chinese Differential Diagnosis using both Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (extensive modifications of both herbal and point selection formulae are cited); case examples and additional comments.

The text is as authorative and responsible as one has come to expect from the superb and ethical work of Bob Flaws.

The layout is, as always from Dr Flaws, no frills, no designer tints, no pictures inserted for amateurs and beginners; this book is for serious practitioners doing a serious job of treating disease. Impossible to recommend too strongly.

This book was perfect for our teen with diabetes. It was very thorough & easy to understand. My teen liked the stories about other teenagers & actually read it herself!

This book is very infomative for people interested in diabetes and for health professionals. It contains detalied information on every aspect of diabetes, there specialized chapters for nutrition, nervous system and other aspects in diabetes.

I think health professionals should consider buying it.

This is the best book on Diabetes Type 2 I've read to date. It's well-written while remaining informative. Rosenthal succeeds in teaching us about anatomy, psychology, and medicine in easy-to-read and comprehensive, yet truly interesting text.

The historical background of Diabetes Type 2 is fascinating and answers many questions. She covers everything we *really* need to know and understand about the disease. This book is a must for all women who either have diabetes or suspect that something is wrong with their health. It's not just for diabetics, it's for women!! Bravo!

This book puts Type II Diabetes in perspective. Easy to understand, answers the questions you need to know and does it in lay-terms.

This book is great. It covers all aspects of pumps and continuous glucose monitors - a must-have for anyone considering either (or both) therapies. Not too long but contains all the info and written in a very easy to understand way - great for everyone!
