This book is an incredible guide for anyone who is embarcing on one of the most difficult tasks on earth - eating right! Whether you want to loose weight or just learn how to eat better, this book is a fantastic guideline for helping you obtain your health goals without feeling as though you can never eat out again. I never leave home without my Convenience Food Facts book. I can eat in any restaurant or shop in any grocery store and know that a healthy dinning experience is just a few pages away!

Receipes are easy to follow and delicious. Exchange values are listed, as well as the calories, fats, carbohydrates, protein, cholesterol, sodium and potassium. Thus this book is handy for those on low cholesterol and/or low salt diets.

We bought our first copy when I cooked for my mother, a diabetic who also had to watch her salt intake. We enjoyed the variety of dishes so much, we still use the book ten years after she died. Now that my brother has developed diabetes, I'm ordering another copy for him. Mine is too worn to pass on and I really don't want to give it up.

I recently started a macrobiotics diet, hoping to find help with some chronic health problems. I started on my own, from instructions in a basic book on macrobiotics. Quickly developed problems with upsetting hypoglycemic episodes that shook my confidence in my ability to proceed on my own.

After reading Aveline Kushi's book on diabetes and hypoglycemia, I learned that my diet was out of balance for the particular needs of someone with hypoglycemia. After making the recommended changes, I have stopped having blood sugar problems and feel that I can stay on the macrobiotics diet and continue to enjoy the healing benefits of it.

I'm grateful for the help in this simple, readable but important book.

My eight-year-old cousin who has been diagnosed 6 months ago, really took to this CD-ROM.
He played it several times and kept asking more questions every time about blood glucose,
insulin, pancreas, carbs.. - it really got him interested in the details of his own condition.
A big factor, I believe, was that this learning game showed him that he is not alone with
diabetes and there are many other kids who deal with the same issues every day.
Very impressive piece of interactive software. Apparently people who created it have
done research both in the diabetes care and in learning methods and knowledge acquisition.
Most importantly, they cared that kids with diabetes learn to be in control of their
condition and feel like equals to others. In brief, it's a great way to learn about diabetes,
even for peple who do not have the condition (like myself).

I was a student of Dr. Urdaneta's years ago and was well aware of her concern of and dedication to the study of diabetes in Hispanic Americans. As I work in a mostly Hispanice, title one school now, I know of the devistation that diabetes brings to families. This book is amazing and the recipes are fantastic. I am ordering more for Christmas gifts to fellow teachers this year. This book is as much of a class act as Dr. Urdaneta.

This book came in great condition. I love the recipes and the fact that you are only cooking for two...which means two meals for us single people. They are tasty and easy to create!! Worth purchasing.

Incredibly well written book with chapters from the world's authorities in diabetes. Concise, and to the point. Should be read by anyone caring for patients with diabetes.
