What an amazing woman...Jean Carruthers, MD

After studying the fine art of BOTOX both in the states and in Canada, after treating many patients with BOTOX, I am convinced that the Canadians continue to be ahead of of the U.S. with the art of BOTOX use for cosmetic purposes (I've made more than one trip there to learn from them).

Moreover, Dr. Carruthers is the Canadian physician who first wrote about using BOTOX cosmetically (after first treating her secretary and then others with BOTOX). She has continued with her research to lead the field.

If you want to know about the flood, talk to Noah if you can. If want to know about BOTOX, read this book by Jean Carruthers, MD.

I am chief resident at a teaching hospital. This book was highly recommended to me
while I was researching a case but Dr. Wolfort's reputation sold me right away. I was
very impressed with the solid content in each chapter and the clear, extensive
illustrations throughout this book. It is invaluable and will remain a part of my medical
library. This is a must.

Well referenced and good overview...

Review Date: 2007-07-31
There's a great contrast between the popluarity of mesotherapy in South America and France and even southern Florida compared with most of the United States.

Good evidence including pathology shows how it works to spot reduce fat. This is the best text I've seen on the subject, but as a physician who practices mesotherapy, I'd highly suggest that you use the book as an overview and reference and then go to one of the training centers recommended at the back of the book for training.

There's a great lag for most new treatments: ten years to prove a therapy works and is safe and another 10 years for it to become common practice. Since mesotherapy was introduce in France in 1952, there's been and unusual delay in acceptance in the U.S that baffles me.

This book gives good photos of the side effects of the stratgey and introduces physicians to the hows and whys. Hopefully, the book will help bring mesotherapy into a more accepted postion to make it more widely available.

The book is proably more than most people would want to read unless they are physicians or nurses. But, it might be worth skimming through even if you're just contemplating the procedure. I certainly would be glad if any of my patients read it from cover to cover; I would know that they understood the risks and benefits better than most physicians.

If you want to see some actual research, you can find pathology reports posted on my website (see my profile here on Amazon).

Vital addition to your Dog library
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2001-04-13
This is a well organized book that clearly defines potential skin problems of Dogs or Cats and then plots out a potential resolution that both the layman and the veterinarian alike can use to successfully assist the afflicted pet.

Helps educate the pet owner to ultimately assist the veterinarian with the proper diagnosis by delving comprehensively into the subject of skin disease, its' causative factors and curative possibilities to assist in the proper final diagnosis, which with skin ailments, is sometimes never possible to pin down.

My only wish is that a new, revised addition would be published that would reflect some of the newer drug therapies that have become available since the books' original publication date in 1997.

It is like an intimate phone book of those difficult people we all have to deal with. I was just a matter of time before I was out at the hardware store and rigged up a wonderful mirror as described in the wonderful medical text "House of God." This book opens your eyes to your fellow human in a way not unlike crossing of the Rubicon.

A true rosebud of a book

The authors do an outstanding job of showing the different types of histology that will be seen when performing Mohs surgery. I just wish the book had been published many years ago when I was learning how to do Mohs surgery.
