Herein, the steward of the eponymous Inaba Clinic in Tokyo, Japan holds forth on a sensitive topic with authority and dignity. Inaba is known primarily for 1996's seminal "Androgenetic Alopecia: Modern Concepts of Pathogenesis," but truer disciples consider this to be his finest work (although a 1987 article from the Yonsei Medical Journal entitled "Lipid Composition of Ear Wax in Hircismus" has its partisans). Etiology and treatment are given roughly equal coverage in this admirably thorough volume. A convenient guide to trauma centers equipped to deal with acute cases is also included. Intriguingly, this book reveals that the clichéd sneer about the French being particularly afflicted has been borne out by decades of carefully documented research. I can attest to this personally, as Mrs. Higgensworth's longtime beau prior to her becoming my betrothed hailed from that malodorous land, and the few times that I met him I almost fainted from his "eau de lui-même."

Someone had to write the history of this subject--a problem that has plagued me ever since the days of my childhood, which were mostly very lonely ones--lonely days caused by my persistent body odor. I least I THINK that was why none of the children in my school would talk to me . . .

Really fantastic book which provides very valuable information, and it fulfil every expectations for skin pathology.

I am all in all very happy with my recent purchase of this book, it has the information I was looking for, and more!

I own my own Bath and Body care business and have been wanting to venture out and further my education in the area, as I feel the only true way to really know Bath and body products is to use them all the time and know HOW to use them. This book suites me very well in that, mind you it is a simply stepping stone to my all in all venture, but no regrets as of yet. I like how it goes into detail over the actual blood born pathogens, the information on disinfecting and sterilizing, and also the information on how the whole certification and licensing process goes.

I like it so far, it is full of useful information that is well needed in the careers of Spa treatments.

Overall, this is a great book to have. I bought it just for the lymphatic drainage information; the rest I didn't care about.
It goes into a lot of detail, and has many graphics and diagrams. The one problem I had with this book is a confusing step in the lymphatic drainage instructions. I actually think they made a typo, since it made no sense how they referred to some imaginary lines as horizontal when the other things they said only made sense if they were vertical. So, it's easy to get confused with these instructions, but they are not vague because that could be confusing too.
I'm very happy with this purchase, since I would prefer instructions to be too detailed rather than too vague, and with some practice, I think it would seem a lot more simple.
The only other thing I can think of is that they mention some basic services and don't go in depth too much. They only mention very common basic ingredients with them, so if you're a licensed esthetician already, you would probably be familiar with what they wrote and it would have been a lot more beneficial if they covered a greater variety of ingredients.

As a student in Beauty Therapy this has been a wonderful help in understanding techniques of waxing as well as the biology attached to waxing. Other names for a Brazilian wax and techniques, Ohh!!!!

Professionals might find the material redundant as they will probably have much of the material in several different sources in their libraries HOWEVER this book will be a wonderful addition as it includes information on all types of hair removal under one cover! It also includes a chapter on threading and another on laser physics and laser hair removal. While some textbooks incorrectly classify laser hair removal as permanent, this book does not. Students will probably cherish this book. Complicated ideas are made simple to understand with easy to follow text accompanied by wonderful photos and graphics. I suggest that students use this book as a study guide as it is indeed comprehensive yet far lighter than the heavy textbooks you prefer not to lug. For the consumer who wants to make informed choices as to hair removal options, Milady's Hair Removal Techniques, A Comprehensive Manual by Helen R. Bickmore, will help GUIDE you which is refeshing after so many try to SELL you.

I wrote a very long review on this book for the American Journal of Dermatopathology in 2002 (Am J Dermatopathol 2002; 24:169-179). In brief, if you are interested at all in neoplasms of the hair follicle, this is the book to read. This is a great historical work that will set the groundwork for all future thought in this area of dermatopathology.

I have a bookshelf of dermpath texts but keep Bernie's silver book on my desk. His writing is pithy and lucid. I prefer the format of this new edition to that of the "gold book" (edition 1) since all information on an entity is in one place. I recommend this text for residents and practising physicians.

An amazingly concise book packed with wealth of basic and logical skills and info required to understand the critically ill patient. This book gives you the presice management steps for calls. Will give you the confidence to be a better resident.
