Dermatology Books

I think this is a good review and overview of the procedures described by the various authors. In my opinion the decriptions could have been somewht more detailed into the technical aspects of executing the differing ideas and concepts and procedures.

I liked the content of the book . I have restrictions about the topics of Infertility that besides objective are abridged.

Although this book is quite expensive, I think it's prettyhelpful. It has some useful tips that have helped me. However, it's alittle boring and excessive in some places...

Quickly - it is not what you expect to get. You can run it only if disc in the drive. No installation on computer. Every time you need to look at the book, you need either to drop it in the drive or to open Windows Explorer and go through drive and start application. It does not work with Apple/Macintosh if your Mak is new (2-3 years old). It needs old Mak OS to work. It does not work with 10.5 or 10.6 even manual is saying ; "version 9 or older"). When you call to tech support you cannot get to company but general support from Elsevier who is saying we cannot change this layout. No ability to connect to editor or give any suggestions. I still gave 3 stars for a content and ability to get info on Internet.

It is a very good collection of photographs of various skin diseases based on morphology but it lacks an index for diseases by name. It makes it very difficult if you want to see differential diagnosis by disease. I would certainly help if at the end an index is given by names of diseases as well.

This is a very good book, when the histological findings are not diagnostic of any particular condition. By, doing photocompatibility and silent features, good differentials can be achieved for further diagnostic procedure.

I am employed in Correctional Medicine where I see primarily people of color. This atlas offers large photos and large print text which are helpful in explaining various skin lesions. I use this text several times daily and it has been a true resource for patient and staff education. The downside is that there are too few skin conditions described for a volume of this size and price. It also would be helpful to have more documentation of treatments for each skin lesion or condition. I recommend this atlas as a pictorial resource, but not as a reference text. I look forward to using other books in the "Skin of Color Series".

This book maybe for wards but not for boards. It is too simple.

I just received the book from Amazon. Actually I wanted to order a DERMATOLOGY book with pictures. This book looks nicely organized, and well written. BUT there are no pictures. I think it would be an excellent dermatology pocket book if accompanied by pictures.

This book has 95 pages including the index so it is about 1 $US a page which is expensive even by the standard of medical textbooks. However it packs a lot into the 95 pages and does it using excellent diagrams and tables. The photographs are too small to be useful and many lack arrows to indicate the features they are meant to show, which makes life difficult for the dermatoscopic neophyte. It does fit easily into a coat pocket and will be useful for residents learning about dermoscopy in the clinic but there are better textbooks out there.
