Written for those with Western and Eastern Medical Background
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-22
The book is divided up by western medicine diagnoses of skin diseases with herbal formulas and short commentary by TCM diagnosis. The dosages and individual herbs still need some adjustment for individual patients, but the formulas that are compiled are effective in my experience. I would recommend purchasing an illustrated manual of dermatological diseases to accompany this book, as well as reading CDC/state guidelines on infectious/communicable diseases. Skin diseases that are contagious and difficult to kill are often misdiagnosed.

An Advanced Look at Veterinary Dermatology
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2004-02-03
This book contains all the information a practitioner would need to practice high quality veterinary dermatology. However, it may be too advanced for many general practitioners who may want to look at more clinically minded books. This book is well referenced and the use of the references is accurate. When the experience of the authors is used it is clear to the reader. The most problamatic chapters have to do with the structure and function of skin, where the author tends to shift subjects and alternates the detail to which the subject is covered - sometimes in the same sentance!

Doctors that treat lupus should read this book.
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-28
Published in 1997, this volume is a result of a conference held in September of 1996. It is a collection of over 30 journal articles and poster papers. Because it is aimed at doctors, people comfortable reading medical journal articles will find its coverage of NP-SLE interesting; it's probably a bit on the technical side for most non-MD readers. Any doctor (primary care or specialist) that treats patients with lupus should read this book if they're not already familiar with it's contents. At least that's the opinion of this reviewer, who became acutely aware of the disturbing level of ignorance of NP-SLE among even well-regarded rheumatologists.

I humbly think this text, which can also serve as an atlas (great photos--many in color), is the finest available review of melanocytic lesions. Pricey, but a wonderful, conside book.

Review of the Dematology
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2005-06-29
I have read and reread this practical book several times. Each time I learned more. The pictures there are excellent examples of each type disease. The ICD coding also allows the insurance billings to be done easier. The treatment and explanations are also very practical. I just wish the book includes more case studies and different type of dermatological issues. As health care professionals it was not too clear(at least to me) if that type contagious or nor.
The book is excellent for medical practitioners, insurance billers, patients and even parents. One does not require a great deal of medical background to comprehend complex issues.

Principles and Practices of Electrical epilation

Review Date: 2007-07-28
As one of the most recent publications on professional epilation, it was up-to-date and well written. There are a number of chapters to do with running a business in Great Britain which are of no value to those operating elsewhere and chapters regarding general first aid and marketing which are not necessary. Otherwise, I found it a very good text, easy to read and comprehend.

lasers just for skin treatments
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-08-13
Amazing that lasers have made this deep [pun intended] impression in medicine. This book confines itself to usages on the skin. Like dealing with birthmarks [eg. port wine marks], scars and tattoos. Or in hair transplantation.

Different lasers are used for different problems. The text shows how a particular type of laser might be well suited for a given issue. The ability of some wavelengths to penetrate the upper skin layers also is an advantage in some operations. Giving a means of getting at lower layers without traditional surgery.

Although this book is quite dated the anatomical descriptions and pictures are sensational. Incredibly useful to both my study and work. It unfortunately could do with updating of the more recent flap's which have been developed. Overall a brilliant plastic's text.
