For Health we learned about head lice in a book of that title by Angela Royston. This was another one of those books that did double duty as a health book and a reader. While it is a little itchy it was also very informative and definitely at My 8 year old's level. I would recommend it for grades 2-3rd.

lasers for your skin
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-12-31
Who could have imagined in the early years of lasers, that one day they would be vital for skin surgery? Many people are already familiar with how lasers are used in eye surgery. But the book shows that for treating various skin ailments, lasers are also proving vital.

The book is written for a medical professional. It covers the various types of lasers used in treatment, like dye lasers, or the continuous wave models. It shows the different techniques that each can be used for.

Cosmetic surgery also gets prominent discussion here. A quite lucrative speciality. And the ability of lasers to remove skin blemishes is quite remarkable.

Useful for experimental design...and more
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2000-01-05
'In Vitro Percutaneous Absorption' is a collection of papers by various researchers. It provides an insight into the skin absorption research community.

For experimental researchers, 'In Vitro PC' is useful for design and preparation of experiments. It is also useful in revealing common sources of experimental error.

For those not performing in vitro experiments, there are two chapters that are useful for understanding the mechanisms of percutaneous absorption, and how enhansors such as DMSO and azones work (both chapters are first rate). The chapter on the LPL Theory of skin penetration offers a concise, understandable concept of percutaneous absorption. The chapter on penetration enhansors details classes of enhansor chemicals and their mechnism of action. It also addresses synergy between enhansors, and efficy.

For those actively involved in percutaneous research this book will be readily understandable. The authors assume that the reader is familiar with much of the terminology, so those not in their field of study may find some chapters difficult to read.

This is not a bad introduction to the Internet for doctors. The best part is the extensive bibliography. I found the chapter on medical informatics particulary interesting.

Laboratory Handbook of Dermatophytes

An excellent review of the principles of dermaophyte identification. Wonderfull graphic (photographs, charts) support of the technical principles constituting a procedural guide that is amoung the best available. This resource should stand the test of time as it is well grounded in the fundamentals and avoids jargon likely to be short lived. A MUST HAVE for mycology laboratories and the offices of Dermatologists.

I had read this book 3 years ago. And then Ilost it after that so I have been looking for this manual for reviewing chemical peel. Actually I meet this book on the desk of my senior. I read a part of Jessner's peel in this book. I can remember that peel from Manual of chemical peel. That book demonstrates various peelings simply, accurately, and easily. It is good book
