THE Top Notch Medical Reference Book for Scleroderma
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2001-03-15
As webmaster of Scleroderma from A to Z (sclero.org), a 550+ page site that is available in 11 languages, I find myself turning to this book for solid medical information nearly every single day.

This is a full-fledged medical book, suited for doctors, researchers, and for patients who are at ease with complicated medical jargon...or who are willing to wade through it to understand more about the disease and its possible complications.

You will definitely find more information in this book than anywhere on the Internet. It is an absolute must for rheumatology libraries, and for all doctors who have patients that are unable to travel to a scleroderma treatment center.

I am continually shocked by the numbers of patients I hear from who have suffered scleroderma symptoms for years -- and even decades -- before being properly diagnosed. If more doctors read this book, and kept scleroderma in mind as a possible diagnosis, this could prevent untold misery and waylaid diagnosis for many people.

Please get this book -- and study it well! -- if you care for any scleroderma patients. This is a very complex, devastating, and all-too-often deadly disease which will bring to bear all of your medical expertise.

This book also covers a wide array of scleroderma-like illnesses. It explains rare complications and the nearly the very latest information available on the front of scleroderma research.

Drs. Clements and Furst are known as scleroderma experts worldwide, and are dedicated scleroderma researchers and clinicians. There is simply no better medical book about scleroderma available in the world today.

There is probably no other textbook on testosterone that can bring together so much information in such an authoratative way as this one. The book explores every facet of the universe of hypogonadism while providing information in a highly readable and interesting format. Very highly recommended!

Good Book

As a dermatology resident I would recommend this book. It covers dermatologic surgery in detail. The early chapters are thorough and cover aspects of preop assessment, instruments, sutures, antibiotics etc. The mid chapters cover the flaps in detail for a dermatologist. There are then good chapters on cosmetic procedures. While laser surgery is changing all the time the principles are explained here, dermabraision has not changed. The chapters on sclerotherapy are good.

Overall I would recommend this book for a resident with an interest in surgery or cosmetics. If you are not interested in doing a fellowship or specializing then this may be a bit much but your department should own one.

Definitively the maximum! only for the authors' quality (many countries), photos and inclusion of information already turn it indispensable. It is the reference in pediatric dermatology.

This is an extraordinary publication. This topic is not well appreciated by most clinicians. This outstanding work is a "must-have" for any internist, family physician, endocrinologist or surgeon who treats patients with thyroid disease. Congratulations to the author for addressing a topic that has not been well vetted by medical schools or residency training programs.

I found this newly released book excellent for addressing the need of para-professionals; estheticians to add to their knowledge base and gain an expanded core of information regarding many of the procedures they perform without "formal" training. I would suggest all medispas and skin care treatment facilites to have a copy of this book in there library. It expands to include surgical procedures as well and areas of concern with regard to after care for these patients. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the care of the largest organ in the human body-SKIN!!!
Special thanks to the Author-Dr. Arroyave

Thus really is an amazing overview and very concise, well written text. It is quite small but do not let that fool you. I thought every chapter added to my understanding and fund of knowledge. It is quite well written, no fluff, distilled into a very good portable book.
