I used this book in an undergraduate course on depression. The writing is clear and it provides solid coverage of how to define and categorize depression, how it's diagnosed, current knowledge of biological issues (genetics and physiology of depression), and all the major psychological theories and approaches to treatment (behavioral, cognitive, psychodynamic, interpersonal). Social and cultural aspects of depression are covered too. There's a lot here; you could read just what interests you and skip any sections that don't, or use the book as a reference. I like the comprehensiveness and the clear writing style. Definitely a good source for learning about depression. This is written for people interested in the technical stuff, the research and theory of depression.

This book accurately describes those most at risk from stress-related depression.

In contrast to many books on depression, this text takes the view that those most susceptible to depression are people with strong personalities. Being naturally conscientious and reliable, they tend to carry on under great stress, where weaker people would simply give up. In the end the burden becomes too much and they succumb to depression rather like a rubber band which will snap if stretched too far. The work attempts to explain the cause of depression and how it can be treated - by looking after yourself, antidepressant treatments and talking therapies.

An excellent book and, unlike many on this subject, is not based on some crack-pot personal theory, but simply sensible advice that will be compatible with your medical treatments.

This one was one of the best books about the Dionne's. It wasn't at all one-sided like so many others. The pitures are excellent, and Mr. Burton's style is smooth and understandable. It allows you to form you own opinion and understand what really happpend, since it was such a complicated story, with alot of twist and turns. Enjoy!

I use to suffer from Depression and get Discouraged around
Janurary thru March. I bought this book with the idea that
it would help me sort out what was causing the depression.
It did do that and I have lent it to several of my friends
who in turn purchased the book as well. A very good read.

This book is highly motivating when it comes to the powerfulness of the NingXia Wolfberry. Dr. Young, Dr. Lawrence and Marc Schreuder, PhD. dissect this berry very well. This book has been able to help me in my endeavors as a nutritional educator to understand the exact breakdown of the wolfberry and the breakdown of other vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Then to compare them beside each other just gives a whole new light on the term "ultimate superfood". I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone looking for understanding on the breakdown of the wolfberry in comparison to other essential nutrients.

This book is wonderful. Mr. Wallace is excellent at giving readers a view of his childhood and life. The hilarious and stunning anecdotes bring growing up in a rural area to life. Congratulations!!

Not being one for self help- this book appeals as it states that it will make the self help industry redundant. It does.

Dorothy Rowe tackles seemingly massive issues with wit and humour. This is an enjoyable book to read.

Her philosophy is sound, clear commonsense that empowers the reader and basically helps you to understand who you are, and what your real motivating priorities are in life.

I came away feeling refreshed, clear and uncomplicated. The logic behind the book is so clear that I am confident it will remain with me throughout my life.

Buy this book if you don't go for self indulgent analysis and mumbo jumbo, but would just like to get yourself in order and move on!
