Yes, it's true (although sometimes hard for parents to face) -- CHILDREN BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SAY. You can help compensate for some of the things you've said and later wished you hadn't by making good use of the fun and truly usable exercises in this book! Children love stories, and this book is packed with interesting folk tales that illustrate the positive and help children understand the incredible depth and breadth of human emotions.

I was amazed at how engaging and fun all of the exercises in this book are, even for older children. This priceless addition to your book shelf can even provide you with tools for improving your own self-esteem. After all, it's never too late for a happy childhood. Get started today with this awesome book!

A delightful book that is well written. I have read some of the storys in it to my four year old and he has enjoyed them. I've also tried some of the simpler games, like "If I was a colour, I'd be..." with him. I feel that this book has given me what I was looking for to develop my relationship with my child (there's also further recommended reading). It has been written so that it can be dipped into and a story read from or activity carried out to suit the circumstances or age of the child (use your own discretion). A final word, this book (the activities, visualisations and stories) can also be done by parents too!

The Midwest Book Review (April 2007) writes: Now in a newly and substantially revised and expanded third edition, "The Comfort of Home: A Complete Guide For Caregivers" continues to earn its reputation as the 'bible' for providing home caregivers to aged, ill or handicapped loved ones with a thoroughly 'user friendly' illustrated guide that covers everything necessary from daily living tasks to preparations for hospice care, to making funeral arrangements. This is a complete and superbly organized, 216-page, comprehensive 'how to manual that will help the caregiver to develop their skills, expertise, and confidence, which will in turn enhance their peace of mind with respect to the quality of life for the person they are caring for. I was really impressed with the comprehensive material in this 3rd edition of "The Comfort of Home." As a Social Worker in a previous life, this would have been the book that I would have given to individuals who were considering becoming a primary caregiver. Nothing has been left out in this very well-written guide that a person needs to consider when undertaking this process.

"The Comfort of Home" is set up so that it can be read from beginning to end, or as a reference guide that a person can look up specifics. Oftentimes, taking on the task of a caregiver seems completely overwhelming. Meyer helps break the tasks down into manageable steps that include tips, questions that need to be asked and additional resources to follow up with. The author begins the book by helping the reader decide if home care is an option for them to consider. Her approach is honest and guilt-free for the person making this decision. Following this process, a person needs to decide what level of care is needed and whether this can be provided at home. I really thought that the section on paying for care through Medicare, Medicare part D, Medigap and the many other types of benefits was easy to follow.

As a proponent of long-term planning, I especially liked the section for setting up a care plan. Following these suggestions will make it easy to have someone step in as a temporary caregiver to give the primary caregiver a break, reporting to medical staff and in helping the caregiver not to make mistakes. Being a caregiver can be exhausting and keeping records on the patient, especially with important medication schedules. There are so many chapters that cover every aspect of a person's life such as exercise, diet, nutrition, special challenges and daily activities. Each area is thoughtfully addressed and ends with other available resources in dealing with that area.

The author does an excellent job throughout "The Comfort of Home" in reminding the caregiver to take care of themselves. She even includes a whole section on how to avoid burnout and ends with dealing with funeral arrangements and the grieving process. I would highly recommend this guide to anyone who is considering becoming a caregiver.

A Day at Sherri's Luz-N-Hugs Daycare book is WONDERFUL! My daughter received this book when she was 9 years old; she is now 11 years old and still loves reading it every night! She also has the Fire Drill Practice at Luv-N-Hugs Daycare that she has brought to her daycare at school and all the kids wanted a book of their own. Kids really like the creative pictures and the fun activities. It is great for the older kids as well as the younger ones. I highly recommend this book as well as the Fire Drill one.

This is a fabulous book for preschoolers and younger. It is a typical day in a daycare with a loving daycare provider named Sherri. She is a teacher, mother, housekeeper, artist, cook, caretaker and much more. If a child is new to daycare this is a good way to break them in before they start. It is a very nice sized book with colorful artistic pages. There are good lessons in the story also. If they are in daycare it is a good present to give to your provider to read to the children. They never get tired of listening to it. My kids are 7,3, and 1 and all still love it. Wonderful gift for anyone with children ( and that includes grandparents also). Thanks for taking my review. You wont be sorry for buying it.

This is such a great book. Its basically not a read-once-and -done book. Rather it is a read once and take with you to the beach and read again or simply refer back to. The book definitely put me in a relaxed mindset. A very pleasant and enjoyable read.

Best How-To Book Ever!

My pediatrican recommended this book when my now 13-year-old was born, and it's only slight hyperbole to say that my children are alive and well because Miriam Stoppard! The book gives very practical advice on how to wrap a baby, tips to dress a baby, how to bathe a baby, how to take a temperature, etc. My mother-in-law was in awe of my skills and never guessed that I was so proficient because I'd been reading the book before she came over! The book also has growth charts in the back where you can record your children's height and weight progress and compare it against several norms. I'm reviewing this book now because I'm on-line to order the upteenth copy for another friend who is expecting.

I love this author. She is very down-to-earth. I buy this book and her Pregnancy & Birth book for everyone in my family who gets pregnant.

For first time moms it really lays out everything you will need to be completely ready once the baby arrives.

It breaks everything down so you are prepared and keeps you informed of things you will need well into the first year.

I recommend this book.

A fresh view of the saddening aspect of childhood disease

When a child is first exposed to the tragedy of death, it is commonly of a parent or grandparent - not a sibling. "Day by Day: Children Tell Their Journeys of Faith and Determination Living with a Sick Sister or Brother" is a collection of reflections from siblings of terminally ill children. Their diverse perspectives are just as enlightening and inspiring as the views of the afflicted themselves, and includes the author's own observations concerning the families of the tragic children. "Day By Day" is a fresh view of the saddening aspect of childhood disease, highly recommendation for those seeking something to smile for in this cruel world.

This book is incredible. Finally, the siblings of chronically ill children are recognized as wise and helpful teachers. Author Christine Frisbee has listened very closely, and presents a variety of inspirational personal stories. She reveals the depth of understanding and healing that can blossom from family hardship, including her own. There is so much we can learn from the clarity, tenderness and honesty of children. Christine captures those insights like a butterfly, and then releases it to the reader.

A great idea that helps parents share in their child's day!

Parents rely on daycare for their children for many reasons. Unfortunately, when children are in daycare, they are usually too young to share all the little things that happened throughout their day. Now there's a wonderful way for parents to feel more "connected" to the children they leave in their daycare's hands. There's no reason that parents should miss out on all the happenings of their child's day.

"A Day In The Life..." is a keepsake journal that allows daycare providers to record messages about a child's day, and gives parents those would-be "missed" memories and milestones that they would ordinarily not have. This soft-covered, easy-to-carry, spiral-bound journal lists five sections per day, where daycare providers can fill in notes for parents such as "Activities & Achievements," "Yummy for your Tummy," and "Notes & Reminders to Parents." It's 103 pages of memories that daycare children can now share with thei parents!

My ParenTime recommends the journal, "A Day In The Life..." by Shannon Hammond -- what a great idea! It helps parents keep informed about their child's daycare activities; and answers many questions parents have about their child's life while away from home.

ADD / ADHD... They're Ephriam's Children!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2005-06-14
3 of my children have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. I have felt that there was no hope except medication and struggle. At last I see them for who they are... Strong and sensitive Children of covenant who have been sent here at this time to be able to stand firm in a day of turmoil.

I Love this book!! It opened my eyes to the Strengths and gifts that have been given to my Children. What seemed to be combative, distractable and completely frustrating behavior now not only makes sense, butcan further be developed into strength of charachter and focused into positive aciton, and will become great assets in the lives of my Children.

My wild, impulsive, stubborn, noisy, Know-it-all drama King has become Energetic, spontaneous, perservering, tenderhearted social, and Sensitive.

My compulsive, distracted, slow to adapt, full of fear, antisocial, angry, bossy and argumentative boy has become an unshakable, aware, steady, cautious, reserved, passionate boy who stands by his convictions and is devloping leadership abilities.

My Introverted, disorganized, impetuous, extreme, unpredictable, overly sensitive, too hard on himself loner has become Reserved, unconventional, quick, passionate, caring, conscientious, and independant.

My Children have not changed as of yet, (I'm, just half way through the book), but my perception of them has. Though I know that there is a lot of work and struggle ahead, the suggestions given to turn these character traits into strengths are easy to understand, and easy to impliment.

Thanks to this book, I have hope that my Ephraim's Children will Stand strong in these last days as Covenant keepers who are anxiously engaged in good works and God's work.

Thank you!

Finally, some help!

Parenting the Ephraim's Child is the answer to my prayers! The book not only explains my child's baffling behavior, but offers real, effective methods to work with my child's temperament. After reading this book I see my child in a different, more positive light, and now can see the strengths of my intense child. I recommend this book to anyone who feels that their child is somehow more challenging, but don't know why. They probably have an Ephraim's Child, and this book is a MUST for parents of one of these super-intense, incredible children. I am telling everyone I know about this book!
