Day-Care Books

This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone who collects and/ or wears Victorian costume and corsets. I really enjoy reading this book as all the corsets are well presented to show the correct sillouette of the period and show a variety of corsets ranging from an 1880's maternity corset to baby's corsets! Other supportive garments and corset making acoutrements from the Victorian era to the 1970's like bust bodices, roll on girdles, corset sewing machines and original corset making forms used in the Symington factory are also showcased. The author also gives a history with period photographs of the Symington family and of the corset factory here in Leicestershire. This book has proved most helpful in dating corsets in my own collection and having seen most of the corsets that are presented in this book in real life, I can honestly say that this book is the next best thing to seeing them in the museum yourself! A fascinating read with LOTS of pictures of corsets!

This book has it all! It shows the fascinating and touching interactions of preschoolers and teachers, the dilemmas and joys parents face as they watch their children grow, and the nitty-gritty details of what a child-care center needs to do to survive financially and provide high quality care. The characterization is strong, and I found that I really came to care about the particular children and teachers in the book. As a parent, I was entertained by some of the children's very familiar antics. When I was finished with the book, I passed it along to the director of my son's preschool, and she found it so interesting and informative that she's been having her staff read it. Enjoy!

I was looking for something like this for the longest time. I'm so glad to have found a book for men on this topic. I like that the author covers so many different areas of grooming and also talks about healthy eating, exercise and even meditation. I would truly recommend this to any man looking to improve his appearance. A+

This book is easy to read ,,,, a little at a time or taking the time to just wander through all the thoughtful observations about living with children. It is calmly written thoughts of how we act and react with the children around us and how they see us as adults. A reminder that we all want the best for our children and our children deserve the best. Yet there are gentle reminders that parents, grandparents, teachers and all who take care of children are imperfect human beings. When we make mistakes, and we will make them, we fix them and get back on track.
I liked it's simplicity and loving common sense.

Homespun Curriculum is a wonderful book for people who work with preschool children. There are endless activities for all ability levels. Some ideas I had seen before but others were completely new and refreshing. It is nice to have a bound book that I can go to when I need a quick activity for my young children.

This was a great look into starting a family day care. It covers a lot of information, and goes into depth about a lot of issues caregivers run into. This book is a great buy for anyone thinking of opening their own family day care!

Book arrived in great shape and in a timely manner.

This little story is a quick read. Having retired, Vivian Paley now tells the story of a school she visits and comes quickly to love. They are doing stories in the 2's class - which might involve just one word from a child. which is later lovingly acted out by the whole class.
As an early childhood educator, I read Paley to get ideas and wisdom for my own classroom. But this is a book that parents could enjoy as well, and it should certainly let others know through the warmth and wisdom of the school what good early care should be!

This book is an excellent source of information regarding common childhood illnesses, the incubation period, transmission of illness, typical treatment/s, and considerations as to whether or not the child should be excluded from daycare or preschool.
This book is a must for daycare providers, as well as parents, and pediatric nurses who perform phone triage.

I bought this book for my daughter and she loves it, we read it every night at bedtime. It teaches that things may look bad but there is always something good that comes out of it. Great pictures too!
